How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Evening All,
I see that everybody's having fun on the next Portsmouth manager.
Bugz...Careful with some games as not all are "in play". If you take a position before KO, its a pure gamble. I've been caught out before so I always check now

this market is completely mad - either ssomeone knows what is going to happen already or the herd mentality has gone loopy lol.
As far as I can see, Pompey have approached only Sheff Utd and Rangers and have been given permission to speak to Warnock but refused permission to speak to McLeish (though that may change if they get stuffed by Milan next week). Lowe has stated they have not been approached.
Redknapp 1.43
Warnock 5.5
McLeish 32

Thanks Steve,
I'll give it a wide berth. I don't fancy getting sucked in to get hanged!
I'm just waiting for something decent to show up on some of the footy games. Not too bothered if nothing shows up as banked a really nice profit tonight on a Dow sell spreadbet that I had on from last week.

Just back in and glad to have not continued with hr trade, it all smells a bit as I can see! Or there is a killing to be had? I do not have the knowledge or experience to tell but I know there is more money to be had - frustrating! Will back off for the time being

Funny how you happened to mention Newcastle as just gone green by scalping the draw for over 20 ticks in under 3mins!

Luck indeed took the profit earlier just from the drift back in, as a norm i tend to green out when able so no nasty surprises, most rare normally it comes back to bite me!

Warnock price coming back in and Redknapp drifting again - this is really being manipulated

I know, have taken more money from this market than anything I've done before but now can't get a handle on it! Can't read it now, just settle for the money but its very tempting to go back for another bite! Having followed this thread you seem to have a good knowledge on the cricket, a market that I have tried but with limited success.

Arisito, don't wait 12hrs next time ;~). What a totally bonkers market :~) Made more on laying HR waiting for the Wigan game to start than i did on the game itself.

Used to play cricket at all but the highest level and have always been an avid fan (and stats follower) hence trading it to me is quite natural.
Also, in test cricket prices move a bit slower than other sports and it is a lot easier to price up possible future scenarios and calculate the risk/reward of any trade. As for 1 day cricket, the market tends to overshoot more than any other market imo, you often see sides at 1.2 or less after 20 overs (or 20% of the whole game)
Tonight could be very interesting as the Draw price (which is where i always start at when looking to trade a test match) could either be heavy odds on tonight or out of the market completely. Planning on making it up for the start at 5am - subject to me not turning the alarm off and rolling over as i did this morning!!!
