Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Immediately after the Commons passed the Bill – unamended – a Government source threatened: “The Lords will face an overwhelming public call to be abolished if they now try and frustrate this Bill.”

Lords now on recess. Won't start looking at Brexit Bill until 20 Feb.

What would the vote percentage need to be to get it through then , anyone know .

There is no timetabling allowed in the Lords. They can apply as many amendments as they wish and take as long as they want. Even one successful amendment will see Brexit back to the Commons and then round it goes again. It's called ping-ponging. Then it could be a year wait for the Parliament Act, a few hundred new Lords which would take quite a time or a GE

Just scaremongering Hays. The leader of Labour in the Lords has already said that Labour will not block Brexit. But newspapers have to sell news. Trump is right about the press. Read the same news reported by the Guardian and the Telegraph, or the Mirror and Mail, and you will see how differently they spin what they present to their readers. Fact is that we all want to read news that agree with our own views or prejudices and editors know that. So they please their readers.

The Libs may well block. There is a big crossbench group of around 200. I am hoping for a blockage as it will probably produce an election. Look at the result for 1931 to see what may happen.

I am fed up with the delays...there was a clear vote, the €uro-snowflakes lost, time to put it in it's coffin and nail down the lid.

Trump's team is, as usual, right in the sentiment but wrong in the detail. . The Euro is not undervalued as far as the rest of the EU is concerned, but it does give Germany a competitive advantage which it would not have had had it retained the DM. No wonder it is determined that the EU does not fall apart.
