Israeli Gaza conflict?????? (GAZA)

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2009 19:21

Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?

If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?

Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?

What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

Haystack - 28 Nov 2012 10:35 - 6392 of 6906

LOL

Who can they beg from? There are only other Gaza people in Gaza and they cannot leave. It is difficult for prisoners to beg.

Thanks for the link H/S, I'll have a look later.

Haystack - 28 Nov 2012 11:18 - 6397 of 6906

Gaza has to live on handouts from foreign agencies because Israel stops Gaza from exporting anything. That means Gaza cannot earn anthing. Gaza not lazy hut Israel are tyrants.

SPAIN, NORWAY, FRANCE, AUSTRIA, DENMARK and SWITZERLAND: All announced Wednesday they would vote yes to Palestinian motion. The Swiss government called a change in status "both constructive and pragmatic."

China, India, most of South America and Africa will vote yes and probably Russia.

Very few will vote no. There are some who will abstain but that number is getting smaller by the hour.

Hopefully the vote will be tomorrow.

Haystack - 28 Nov 2012 12:29 - 6399 of 6906

William Hague soon to announce UK's position on the vote in parliament after PMQs They won't vote yes. The most that can be hoped for would be an abstain.

Stan - 28 Nov 2012 12:58 - 6400 of 6906

Abstain? You must be joking H/S, What is the point of our Government "effectively" doing nothing by abstaining? Time wasting at our expense more like it.

Fred1new - 28 Nov 2012 13:03 - 6401 of 6906

Tinker,

Before shooting yourself in the foot again and again, suggest, if you can, to read

Mark Thomas: "Walking the Wall"

In the sometimes humorous book he points out the human costs and abuses by the Israelis administration and their "protective" wall.

It also describes living and working conditions for many of the Palestinians.

It may alter your ill-informed opinions.

Haystack - 28 Nov 2012 13:25 - 6402 of 6906

There is a debate going on now on the parliament channnel. Hague has announced the UK's intention to abstain.

At least he said that he condemned the illegal building of settlements. He is taking quite a beating from Labour and many from his own party.

Stan - 28 Nov 2012 13:31 - 6403 of 6906

No ones interested in what he says it's what he does that counts, talk is cheap.

Fred1new - 28 Nov 2012 16:17 - 6404 of 6906

Stan,

Because of the antics of the tory right-winged Euro-septics, the UK's opinion counts for less and less in Europe and the World in general.

As the many UKIP, BNP, Tory right wingers and other birds of a feather consider themselves outside Europe, it will be seen to count for less and less.

Haystack - 28 Nov 2012 16:23 - 6405 of 6906

That is clearly not the case as most of the EU countries are desperate to keep the UK in Europe. The UK's position on the EU budget is now proving quite popular with more countries adopting a similar line. There are an increasing number of countries becoming eurosceptic. I think the Conservatives have it about right.

cynic - 28 Nov 2012 17:04 - 6406 of 6906

shame the buggers didn't show their support before!

meanwhile, all the french banks are being stripped of their money as those with any, move it and themselves out of the country - damn fool gov't they now have

and the dutch aren't very happy either as they are going to get clobbered with higher taxes too

Fred1new - 28 Nov 2012 18:16 - 6407 of 6906

And I thought you were improving in your old age.
================
I didn't pick up your said "enthusiasm" for the UK or the present tory policies in France. Mind the Scots and when they knew my nationality improved on the general ratings.
-------
Suggest you read Andrew Rawnsley’s comments which seem balanced and pertinent :

====

Reading (with difficulties) some French paper’s they didn’t seem to rate the UK led by the present government very highly either.

What odds are you offering on the Cons loosing the next election?.

cynic - 28 Nov 2012 18:39 - 6408 of 6906

much too early to know ..... a week in politics is a long time, let alone 2 years ..... trying to be objective, i really cannot get enthusiastic over milliband, and of course clegg is a joke .... whether or not cameron is good at the job is a personal opinion, but certainly thatcher did a wonderful job until towards the end, but there were plenty who decried her too

UN Third Committee Votes For Palestinian Right To Self Determination

The General Assembly of the United Nations, Social, Humanitarian, & Cultural – Third Committee, voted Wednesday for a resolution acknowledging the Palestinian Right to Self Determination.

173 countries voted for the resolution while six countries (United States, Canada, Israel, Micronesia, The Marshall Islands and the Republic of Nauru) voted against, and three countries (Southern Sudan, Cameron and Honduras) abstained.

The new resolution affirms that Palestinian right to self determination, including the right to an independent state, and urges all countries, and all United Nations organizations and other related agencies, to continue to support the Palestinian people, and to help them achieve their internationally-guaranteed rights.

Haystack - 28 Nov 2012 19:11 - 6410 of 6906

That will teach them
LOL

A number of orthodox Israeli members of Knesset (MK) stated that they will be burning a Palestinian flag in front of the United Nations office in occupied Jerusalem, in protest to UN’s approval of Palestine as a non-member state

cynic - 28 Nov 2012 19:14 - 6411 of 6906

for sure that was the right, and ultimately obvious result ...... it'll be interesting to see what's in the detail, and no doubt you will tell us all ...... however, i trust you won't start promoting the idea that israel will be dismantled or anything even approaching that
