GTL Resources The Alternative Fuel (GTL)

driver - 23 Apr 2006 18:38

Gas to Liquid
Commencement of Operations Started 28/12/2006
The strategy of GTL Resources plc is to produce liquids such as methanol and ethanol from stranded gas, corn and other feedstocks with quality counterparties. GTL manages all aspects of a project: finance, feedstock supply, production and marketing.

In line with its strategy of seeking to develop and exploit markets for alternative fuels, GTL has, since the beginning of 2001, concentrated primarily upon developing methanol projects, principally in Australia, and, more recently, ethanol project work. The Board has recognised the strategic benefits of acquiring a cash generative asset on a shorter time scale than the typical methanol construction time of three years. In furtherance of this strategy, on 6 September 2005 GTL Resources acquired a controlling interest in Illinois River Energy (IRE) to build an ethanol plant at Rochelle, Illinois, through its wholly owned subsidiary, GTL USA, which has been established for the purpose of investing in ethanol projects in the USA. GTL USA has invested in IRE by way of a subscription for units of IRE pursuant to the Unit Purchase Agreement.

This project has the advantage that the Plant is expected to produce revenues on a shorter time scale and at a significantly lower capital cost than the methanol plant in Australia.

The Company intends to further expand within the ethanol industry in the United States or other suitable markets by selective acquisition of low cost production facilities. The Company sees itself as a potential consolidator of ethanol plants in a particularly fragmented market.

FT Tip
GTL Resources, an Aim-listed company. It raised money to build an ethanol plant in the US. Raw materials costs have risen but the price of ethanol has gone through the roof. The earnings potential should be spectacular.

New Plant

Construction started at Rochelle, Illinois site in September and production from the 50 million gallon per annum ethanol plant is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2006. Following unusually mild weather in Illinois the project has progressed well and is on schedule and on budget. Whilst the Companys main efforts centre on the successful delivery of the US ethanol project at Rochelle, the potential expansion of that site to 100 million gallons is being investigated. In addition and consistent
with GTLs stated strategy for the expansion of its interests in the ethanol industry, other ethanol opportunities have also been identified and will be analysed. Pictures Of The Site Under Construction March 27, 2006 http://www.illinoisriverenergy.com/html/construction.html

nothing wrong with this company but as we all know its about market sentiment as much as fundermentals and in the short term GTL will move lower and i base my prediction on the simple fact that a share has alot further to fall from 2.30 than it does from 2.30p. my entry point would be around 1.80 but anyone thats in for the long term don't panic, you will get your rewards in due course.

simon55

I would love it if you are right 1.80 would be a steal if I was ever able to top up at that price.

Your our first deramp

I think we may see a couple of opportunists trying to sell their old amount of shares at the new rate so we could see an initial drop at the start.

smiler o - 01 Dec 2006 08:33 - 644 of 1690

Driver, it can only progress from here :)

driver - 01 Dec 2006 08:40 - 645 of 1690

I cant buy online with Barclays at all hence the drop other punters are having the same problem, this will be blue at the end I.M.O.

StarFrog - 01 Dec 2006 09:28 - 646 of 1690

Well boys and girls we opened a little lower than some of us predicted, but from a psychological point of view, isn't it great to see GTL at the top of the gainers list with a, albeit false, rise of some 9200%.

laurie squash - 01 Dec 2006 10:36 - 647 of 1690

Still a fair ouch at the moment from 2.25p to 2.10p I am in long term but still not sure on the consolidation.
But to be fair volume is non existant yet and they are not showing up on my broker portfolio so may be a technical problem.

soul traders - 01 Dec 2006 12:30 - 648 of 1690

Afternoon everyone. The SP drop is a bit galling, especially given that there is no rational reason for it. Still, a buying opportunity and if I get some csh freed up I may have another crack of the whip.

Could be the MM's are freeing up some stock ahead of forthcoming announcements, but WDIK.

Actual monetary value of the stock traded so far is only around 160K, and about 0.32% of the total shares in issue. It doesn't strike me as being a big worry, especially when the Standard Lifes of this world are stocking up and own 8% of he co.

All IMO, etc.

G D Potts - 01 Dec 2006 12:50 - 649 of 1690

UP 9000% Super.
but really we just lost 0.15p, or 15p as it is now from the consoldiation. Not great.
Just to clarify though to work out the number of new shares you have you divide your original holding by 100? So if i had 100'000 i'd now have 1000?

soul traders - 01 Dec 2006 13:06 - 650 of 1690

Correct, GDP, you have one new share in place of every 100 you had before.

ghjones2 - 01 Dec 2006 13:07 - 651 of 1690

correct, Laurie, who is your broker?

driver - 01 Dec 2006 15:35 - 652 of 1690

GTL verses RVA

RVA Market Cap 70.00m SP 218P Producing 4.2 increasing TO 20MMgal/y

GTL Market Cap 48.00M SP 210P Producing 50MMgal/y increasing to 100MMgal/y

soul traders - 01 Dec 2006 15:44 - 653 of 1690

Dead right, Driver - I think forthcoming news in Dec/Jan should be worth a 50% rise in the SP to at least bring the mkt cap into line with RVA, but I don't know if I can persuade the market to agree with me . . . .

Still, looking cheap at the moment in comparison to the likely future value.

soul traders - 01 Dec 2006 15:45 - 654 of 1690

However, value will out in the end - once they start showing earnings they will soon see a revaluation.

driver - 01 Dec 2006 15:52 - 655 of 1690

soul
My break even is 300p I thought they were cheap then I would top up at these levels if I had some spare, thats if I could I still cant buy from Barclays online, so we are looking at a false market it should sort its self out next week.

soul traders - 01 Dec 2006 16:01 - 656 of 1690

Have you tried giving Barclays a call - they might be able to help. On the other hand, their corporate actions dept could have been astonishingly slack and failed to update the stock to reflect the changes, which might mean you'd have to wait until Mon.

driver - 01 Dec 2006 16:40 - 657 of 1690

soul
It was only a dummy trade a lot of punters have had trouble all day online as you said you would have had to phone in putting of a lot of investors.

soul traders - 01 Dec 2006 16:42 - 658 of 1690

From recent experience it can sometimes be worth phoning an order through - I managed to get a much better price on one recent purchase where I wasn't happy with the online quote.

never mind, better times are ahead :o)

G D Potts - 01 Dec 2006 17:06 - 659 of 1690

s.p. very low. great entry point. i think its around about the S.P. that i originally got in at. isnt it roughly 0.0205 p a share, fantastic price. May have to invest further.

spitfire43 - 01 Dec 2006 22:57 - 660 of 1690

Very tempted to buy at these levels, hopefully still low on Monday.

Not to worried what the shares do in the short term, these are the only shares I have in my portfolio with no stop loss or price target. In for the long term will just sit back and bide time.
