How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Personally, I didn't expect Warnock to leave Sheff U. Why join a sinking ship?

Steve...Nice bit of trading

I see both HR and AM odds have shortened considerably. I never managed to jump in on this but still on the cricket with money on the draw.

Bugz - 01 Dec 2005 10:30 - 6417 of 10502

Alright lads.

Tell you what Fundy-was bloody lucky with the Blackburn Charton game! Outrageous.

This Portsmouth scenario is messing with my head! I still cant see why HR would head back there after his leaving! Although it is looking more likely.....

Ive been on this market as much as the cricket since 5 this morning lol.

Heres a far out theory, Redknapp left Pompey against the fans wishes, he then succeeds in getting the local rivals relegated, the chairman realises he's got it wrong and to get the fans back on side offers him the job back, Redknapp comes back and keeps them up and becomes a hero (if they go down he takes the money and retires!) - either that or Mandaric/Redknap are in collusion and skinning everyone on betfair :-)

Have to remember McLeish is only at Rangers until they are out of Europe, which could be mid week but as yet, as reported to the public, none of the remaining candidates have been given permission to talk to Pompey

Redknap price too short but its there for a reason i think - am going to try not to trade it anymore and will be delighted if McLeish gets the job :-)

I'm looking at Ceefax 303 where Warnock says he's staying at SU - but you can still lay him at 80!

Fundamentalist - 01 Dec 2005 10:39 - 6420 of 10502

Bugz

would you have traded out at 2-0 - honestly?

Fundamentalist - 01 Dec 2005 10:41 - 6421 of 10502

Schiff

I expect the warnock backers are those who laid him heavily and are now freeing up their bank (as this saga could end up running as long as the spurs one)

Bugz - 01 Dec 2005 10:55 - 6422 of 10502

Fundy

Probably not-felt well safe after the second goal!! Would have been a good match to catch on tele.

Some blackburn fans would have made a killing at 2-0 down.

Scripophilist - 01 Dec 2005 11:01 - 6423 of 10502

Warnock back to 40's

Fundamentalist - 01 Dec 2005 11:04 - 6424 of 10502

The reporter who interviewed him is speaking on sky news, warnock said it was due to loyalty to SU and not to get involved in the politics at Pompey

Scripophilist - 01 Dec 2005 11:04 - 6425 of 10502

No hint of an approach for Redknapp, just yet.

Market has just been suspended

Scripophilist - 01 Dec 2005 11:07 - 6427 of 10502

To re-order the runners! LOL!

Fundamentalist - 01 Dec 2005 11:07 - 6428 of 10502

It caused panic when they did that last night - all because someone wanted Ruud Gullit added lol

Scripophilist - 01 Dec 2005 11:12 - 6429 of 10502

LOL!

Warnock is still priced at 40's despite being out of the race?!!?!?!?!?

You have to believe there are some private conversations going on here with Redknapp.

Scripophilist - 01 Dec 2005 11:12 - 6430 of 10502

This is just as much fun as the weather market was.

Fundamentalist - 01 Dec 2005 11:14 - 6431 of 10502

Scrip

its about as ludicrous as the weather market was lol

Scripophilist - 01 Dec 2005 11:16 - 6432 of 10502

LOL!, I am waiting for Father Christmas to be put into the market.

Fundamentalist - 01 Dec 2005 11:17 - 6433 of 10502

If youre bored, have a look on the forum, some of the attempts to ramp/deramp make the YOO thread look sensible lol

Scripophilist - 01 Dec 2005 11:20 - 6434 of 10502

I have taken a nibble with some of profits on Burley and Robson.

I don't think Robson is realistic, but you never know and Burley is lined up for the Rangers job I think?!?! But Odds looked too good for a punt with free money.
