Beebs,

It's designed to lull you into a false sense of security.

Paul,

The Cable is the GBP/USD cross. Being long means that you've bought the GBP/sold the USD and want it to go up. Vice versa being short.

Paulismyname - 05 Mar 2004 15:32 - 645 of 11056

Hilary, thanks

Will start to follow this thread but know very little about currency trading apart from the fact I follow the cables because it impacts on some divi equities and hedge funds priced in dollars (most of them)

MightyMicro - 05 Mar 2004 16:18 - 646 of 11056

Paul: Also, Cable -- and other crosses -- affect UK corporate profitability in ways that are hard to predict. This has all the usual knock-ons. There is a myth, perpetrated by popular financial commentators, that a strong pound "makes our goods more expensive abroad, particularly in the American market". Complete rubbish. If you deal with corporate America, you price in dollars and stick to it, and take your lumps on Cable. Otherwise the American competition gets the sale.

Beeble, Was a bad call on my TA, Really thought i found something. You learn something every day.

You too.. Good Weekend everybody in fact...

Tellon - 06 Mar 2004 16:29 - 652 of 11056

Hello All, Hope your all enjoying your weekends. Im going away wednesday for 2 weeks and thought I might catch up on some reading while im sunning on the beach. Anyone recomend any good Forex books?

hilary - 07 Mar 2004 10:25 - 653 of 11056

Tellon,

I don't think it matters whether you're trading Forex, a large cap, a small cap or a commodity ......... imo, the principle is still the same. I suspect that you might be better off with a book on either TA or trading strategy rather than a book on Forex. Just an opinion and I hope that you have a good holiday.

For another opinion, should you really be reading books about work whilst on holiday? Shouldn't you instead be eyeing the girls on the beach, or bashing the fresh powder or falling off a bar stool in a drunken stupor? Enjoy.

:o)

Ranjith - 07 Mar 2004 11:00 - 654 of 11056

Hi Zarif,
I see you have been intoduced to FOREX my maggot can you help me to understand how to trade in Forex and how to deal in this trades.

thanks
Kith

Tellon - 07 Mar 2004 16:31 - 655 of 11056

Thanks Hill, I totaly agree with your opinion on the TA. I think TA is the same no matter what market but i feel as if im lacking in some of the forex fundamentals. I have got myself a couple of primer and economic books for my hols, I think the fundamentals are very different and much more important than in shares.

Dont worry I will only be reading at those moments when im on the beach recovering from the night before. Unfortunatley The market is more than a job its something I enjoy.. Sad I know..

Looks like the high might now be in place. If this unwinds over the next few hours, the world and his wife are going to be looking for a bottom so that they can go long.

Tellon - 08 Mar 2004 15:59 - 663 of 11056

Looks like some selling has begun. Hopefully will break 1.2300 - 1.2275
