How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

WOODIE - 02 Dec 2005 05:49 - 6480 of 10502

morning fundy what sort of lead do you think pak will want before they declare?

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 06:58 - 6481 of 10502

Morning Woodie

didnt bother with the first session today as could see the prices moving much till they declare.

I expect Inzy will want a 100 before he declares and I guess they may even bat another hour after lunch

Also note lunch is 20 mins longer at an hour for prayers

WOODIE - 02 Dec 2005 09:48 - 6482 of 10502

hi fundy just got back in how many overs are left for today?

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 09:55 - 6483 of 10502

Play will end at approx 11.30 and weve still got to lose 20 mins for tea so another hour and a quarter - about 18-20 overs

WOODIE - 02 Dec 2005 09:55 - 6484 of 10502

cheers

bakko - 02 Dec 2005 10:28 - 6485 of 10502

Morning All,

I'm bit exposed on the draw having backed it on day 2. Already reduced some of the liability on a Pak win but fingers crossed for a decent Eng innings.

Not getting up at 5am seems to have cost me!

Fundy and Woodie.....Will be joining you tomorrow am!

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 10:39 - 6486 of 10502

bak

i may be struggling for 5am tomorrow - my dads up tonight and could be a heavy night!! then off to the races at Haydock tomorrow

To me the draw looks fractionally short at the moment - 1 more wicket tonight will change that significantly, no wickets it will be approx 2.0 each result

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 11:00 - 6487 of 10502

Draw shortening at an alarming rate - now 1.9 fav with 30 mins to go tonight

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 11:11 - 6488 of 10502

backed pakistan at 2.28 - prices look wrong to me - would have it 2.0 both at the close if no further wickets

bakko - 02 Dec 2005 11:32 - 6489 of 10502

I'm going to hang in for the draw for now as I believe the lights pretty bad and play will end any moment.

Steve....Any idea on the state of the pitch as I heard Boycs say earlier in the week that it could cut up on the final day. Then again, Eng struggles on a flat pitch!

Anyhow, enjoy your night out and haydock.

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 11:37 - 6490 of 10502

Bak

plays over for the day

They keep saying the locals think the bounce will become more uneven on day 5. There will be approx 75 overs tomorrow with a new ball due just after lunch. The ball will turn, but slowly though there was signs of reverse swing late on tonight.

As a pakn backer from here my biggest concern is if Pakn dont get a wicket in the first hour then the pakistanis may give up hope as they have already won the series

bakko - 02 Dec 2005 12:49 - 6491 of 10502

Steve....Thanks for sharing your thoughts again.

I'm still on for the draw which I could green up on a Pak win and the draw if I don't fancy getting up tomorrow.

Just a quick question since you're the cricket guru.

If the game is going nowhere fast tomorrow can both sides come to a mutual agreement to prematurely end the game and settle for the draw rather than play out the whole day?

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 12:54 - 6492 of 10502

Bak,

they can only do that 1/2 hour before the scheduled close and the light will come in more than 1/2 hour before the close so the game should go till 11.30 in the morning

bakko - 02 Dec 2005 13:00 - 6493 of 10502

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Decision time. Can either green up for a crappy amount or get up for 5am and watch out for the draw with much fatter profits??

WOODIE - 02 Dec 2005 13:10 - 6494 of 10502

does someone know fav 1.10 exe is trading at at 2.6 odds with bookies 6/5?

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 13:13 - 6495 of 10502

Woodie

early on you often see a disparity like that, invariably it will lengthen with the bookies and shorten a little on betfair. Saying that, seeing the hailstones at Exeter wouldnt want to on anything too short priced

Looks a reasonable card for trading, especially the smaller fields at Sandown

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 13:16 - 6496 of 10502

sh*t - laid in running and lost pictures

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 13:16 - 6497 of 10502

:-)

now at 1000 - i assume its beaten

Fundamentalist - 02 Dec 2005 13:17 - 6498 of 10502

Now i get my picture back when the race has finished

WOODIE - 02 Dec 2005 13:24 - 6499 of 10502

never looked like winning after the 1/2 way mark my pictures kept breaking up be careful
