Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Fred you are more than welcome to move in next door and then you might realise the NHS in Wales is in a worse state than its English counterpart and is run by Labour.

Dil,
Once again, have a look at the demographics and social changes of Wales over the last 30 years and the funding social and welfare services of that period rather than shouting your mouth off.
Have a look at the overall health issues in some of the social groups.
You may find doing so is interesting.

re - Wales
Could someone give me a good reason why a young couple both unemployed ( both never work ) and with 4 kids ( 2 to 7 years old) have moved from London ( Labour borough ) to Bristol
Apart form being on a house now close to the countryside instead of a large flat.
Are there any better benefits for large families in Wales?
note : People are better off on benefits than working' is one of the most persistent myths

possibly or even probably because the cost of living in the west country (or wales) will be a lot lower than in london
also, if housing benefit is a flat amount, then that too will go much further in quality and size of property

Housing benefit is not a flat amount, it is a calculated amount based upon personal circumstances, such as income and expenses, disabilities etc but using formulae set by the government.

that wasn't quite what i meant
what i meant is, is the base the same whether you live in blaenau or in cirencester or in london or is it location-weighted?

It is not London weighted but clearly the potential benefit will be greater in London because of the higher rents. My understanding is that the council take into account assets and liabilities, plus income, expenditures and household circumstances, then feed that into a program.
I was interested to see the meeting in Versailles today to discuss the future of the EU. France (Hollande is in his final weeks as President), Germany (who knows whether Merkel will survive the upcoming election), Spain ( where Rajoy has had a major problem in forming his government) and Italy (which seems to have a new government every few months). Add to that Juncker stepping down in 2019 and Tusk's bid for a second term as President of European Council being opposed by his own country and you have a fine mess. Add in the other 23 waiting to have their say....don't hold your breath. Best option is too simply go back to the old EEC and forget all the federal nonsense. Have two euros - the Deutscheuro and the Realeuro. Let countries take their pick of which they want to be part of. Later, when Germany realises it is the only country with the Deutscheuro, it can go back to the Mark.

Maybe we do need a Referendum on whether we allow the HoL to screw up the Electorate that were given a free choice?
With so many "Representatives" being in the pay of EU... wouldn't it be fair to expect Lords/Commoners/Individuals to declare their position and not vote?
Oh dear, into the shadow of death rode the 800.

If there wasn't so many people in worthless jobs like some made up quango's,
that is there to promote or train(brainwash) people on the virtues of belonging
to the EU, and more forethought from successive governments, and the raising
of the school age, where kids can't leave school until at least 18, then we wouldn't
be so reliant on foreign workers..
Not to mention the blinkered, or intentional, cutting of training places in important subjects like nursing.

We'll leave the listening to sturgeon speeches to those gullible and naive
enough to believe her spiteful economicly deficient diatribe, along with her
threats of another indy vote.

h/t to dope across the road.
Nicola Sturgeon is touring Perthshire in the First Minister¿s chauffeur driven car. Suddenly a cow jumps out into the road. They hit it full on and the car comes to a stop. Nicola in her usual jaunty manner, says to the chauffeur : " You get out and check - you were driving." The chauffeur gets out, checks and reports that the animal is dead. " You were driving, go and tell the farmer," says Nicola, ¿I can¿t afford to be blamed for anything.¿ The chauffeur walks up the drive to the farmhouse and returns five hours later totally plastered, his hair ruffled and with a big grin on his face. " My God, what happened to you ?" asks Nicola. The chauffeur replies : " When I got there, the farmer opened his best bottle of malt whisky, the wife gave me a slap up meal and the daughter made love to me." " What on earth did you say?" asks Nicola. ¿ I knocked on the door and when it was answered, I said to them, I'm Nicola Sturgeon¿s chauffeur and I've just killed the cow."

Sturgeon is dangerous she's obviously got an unhealthy obsession with independence , I haven't heard any sort of economical reason to be out of the UK . Why can't these people see what the EU is all about , she seems to be going down the if we are in the EU they will look after everything we need a la Greece etc .
