The New Goldfinger Stock Picks Thread. (GOLD)

goldfinger - 25 Nov 2003 00:49

Will only cover stocks bought in the present month the last thread was getting too big and weighted down by one argument on one company. seperate threads are set up for each company from the old thread.

Buys this Month.

Telecolm Plus Results due Friday and has made an excelent start as a new buy. Now through the important 350p resistance barrier.

Sci Entertainment Another company which has an update coming and is up on the buy price. Latest trading update mentioned sales well above budget.

Bema Gold A little gem of a gold miner and has surged on the back of the increasing POG, star of the Month.

Thistle Mining A speculative punt and one which leapt 41% in one day on back of new drilling results. I lopped the top of this one when increase from buy was circa 34%. Rest left in as a gamble on POG.

Caldwell Investments Nothing Spectacular here but still up on buy price. If its good enough for Jim Slater and Evil Knievil, its good enough for me.

CardPoint Latest buy and just ahead of buy price. Been tipped by the Red Hot Penny Shares and also Citywire.

Stocks On The Watch List

Wolfeson Micro, Radstone Technology, Proteome Sciences, Fulcrum Pharma, Severfield Rowen, Deltex medical, M L Labs, NAP - Porvair.

Any comments on the portfolio welcome.

cheers GF.

MMs playing silly devils with a lot of stocks this afternoon. Cardpoint number bought well up on number sold but down 4p???. Do these people not realise it is their actions that are keeping private investors out of the market.

You watch with 10 days to go before the shut down they will tank everything up, why??, Bonuses.

cheers GF.

hawick - 02 Dec 2003 23:45 - 66 of 193

Any updates on Wolfeson GF? I see they have to defend a patent suit but I like the 20 years of profit growth and think they deserve their rating. Seem to have made a promising start to life on the markets. What share price potential say you?

ntk98 - 03 Dec 2003 00:56 - 67 of 193

Thank for the analyse. I don't post much but appreciate to read your view on things. Been in CASH, and PCI (tipped by the other good half of SLATER)and am being in profit in both. Not for the first time, observing what is said on SC and here and ADVFN (FAR2).

Could you pls explain what mean by "You watch with 10 days to go before the shut down they will tank everything up, why" in post 64

Last, could you please share your view on PHS, and AEA technology (AAT) and AXON group (AXO). I kind of liking the prospect of PHS, but wonder AAT could be a strong, long termer enjoyment. PHS risen already 8%, later two were retracing, and start to bounce so would it be good time to join?

Thanks in advance

Wish I had got in at around the late 240s drat, the last update from the company shows growth going like the clappers. Please stop putting thoughts into my head Hawick. Your a devil, mind a likeable one from what I have seen so far.

Sold ScI Entertainment today for a nice profit. Ok yes updates out soon will show its well ahead of budget but the price just cant seem to get through the 120p resistance barrier. Hope Im proved wrong here but I need the dosh for future investments.

cheers GF.

CAT - 03 Dec 2003 09:09 - 69 of 193

still got yer NAE Mr. GF?
They are breaking out - next level 2.80

blois - 03 Dec 2003 11:45 - 70 of 193

Alba looks to be breaking out ( ABA ). Any thoughts on this GF ?

goldfinger - 03 Dec 2003 16:21 - 71 of 193

Yup still have NAE and it is looking strong. Alba was given a good leg up on working lunch about three months back and the only thing that puts me of buying it is that I already own amstrad shares and I look upon this as a duplication.

cheers GF.

hawick - 03 Dec 2003 16:24 - 72 of 193

Don't seem so awful yourself GF! Added Caldwell to my watchlist, good prospects i think, so will someone please sell and knock the price back a bit to let me in! Cheers!

goldfinger - 03 Dec 2003 16:30 - 73 of 193

Opened two speculative new positions today and both are momentum plays, so I wont be doing any research in depth.

Firstly I bought into Bioprogress BPRG as I think the price today on news of the placing has gone south too far and I hope to see them moving north again soon.

Secondly I opened a new position in Gaming Corporation GMC online casino operation as I have been told that Evil K has gone long today and thinks the management are top class and sees the price moving much higher. Evil K has been getting some excelent returns from his longs this year.

please dyor.

cheers GF.

nb, sold a large part of my holding in SEG for a nice profit, they dont seem to be able to get over the 120p resistance line.

Scottie - 03 Dec 2003 20:12 - 74 of 193

I think Thistle Mining is a disaster area - anyone holding these should exit quick.jmop

zscrooge - 03 Dec 2003 21:26 - 75 of 193

what about IDD goldfinger?

Andy - 03 Dec 2003 23:13 - 76 of 193

Zscrooge,

Well I guess that would depend on when you bought or sold, but the chart doesn't look too good at the moement.

goldfinger - 04 Dec 2003 00:11 - 77 of 193

Think its a game of patience with I D Data. I am hoping as ever to hear that the big Banks are now ordering the new cards. Up date, shouldnt be far off.

Thistle mining I have already made a profit on these and the others are there for free. There is supposed to be a production update anytime. Problem with this one is the relationship between the rand and the dollar. Edited, the update slipped past me it was on the 2nd. Profits turned into a loss and rand affecting the companys results. There are some positives in the report for the future but I will now sell the remaining holding.

Gaming Corporation is getting news up and down the boards tonight. Talk of several big buyers going in. Well I certainly know Evil K has just purchased 100,000.

cheers Gf.

goldfinger - 04 Dec 2003 00:20 - 78 of 193

This is an interesting snippet from Robbie Burns the frequenttrader.......

"I've been speaking to my friend today, the famous stock market historian David Schwartz. He's been telling me that generally markets go down between December the 3rd and 13th and then start to rise just before Xmas and again between Xmas and the new year".ENDS.

Well the last two days have been poor ones for me and the previous month as been fatastic. Perhaps the trend started a little earlier this year?.

cheers GF.

Following on from GFs GMC tip, it has also featured in today's Shares
mag!...

Evil Knievil buys into Gaming Corporation

Legendary short-seller Simon 'Evil Knievil' Cawkwell is understood to have
taken a stake in online gaming firm Gaming Corporation (AIM:GMC) as part of
its latest placing.

Cawkwell, perhaps best known for spread betting against stocks rather than
investing in them, has taken a sub-3% stake in Gaming as part of the
company's recent 520,000 placing, which increased the equity by 19.5%.

Other new investors include the Marlborough Special Situations fund, managed
by Giles Hargreave, and all the company's executive directors increased
their holdings.

Hargreave's Special Situation fund is the second fund with a link to the
Marlborough name to invest in Gaming, as M D Barnard, which manages
Marlborough's UK Equity Growth Fund, had a 9.37% stake before the placing.

The money was raised in order to build a small war chest to look at UK-based
companies in the sector to acquire, as well as to meet a certain level of
institutional demand.

Taking the net proceeds of the placing, and the company's cash balance as at
the end of September, it gives the company an acquisition fund of around
700,000.

The company - which owns the casino.co.uk domain name among others -
recently reported reduced pre-tax losses of 733,534 against 2.51 million
last year.

House broker Evolution Beeson Gregory has no numbers in the market place at
the moment, although it is understood that the company's operating division
is now profitable on a month-by- month basis.

One to watch.

goldfinger - 04 Dec 2003 10:04 - 80 of 193

Gaming Corporation already 15% up. Well worth a bite at the cherry.

cheers GF.

hawick - 04 Dec 2003 12:17 - 81 of 193

Long Wolfson, one of your watchlist. (WLF). Decided today's markdown too good an opportunity to miss. Twenty successive years of rising profits as a private company. Quality business worth this rating and more.

goldfinger - 04 Dec 2003 16:20 - 82 of 193

Yup, seems a wise move Hawick. I was set for going into these into these in the high 140s and then just missed it. The last RNS on growth looks very promising indeed. Humm lets see if they fall any further.

cheers gf.

goldfinger - 05 Dec 2003 00:14 - 83 of 193

Bad day for the Gold stocks but overall prices moving north. Glad to see I D Data a tad up.

cheers GF.

aimtrader - 05 Dec 2003 00:27 - 84 of 193
