ASOS: BUY AT LOW PRICE!!!! (ASC)

wilco99 - 12 Sep 2003 15:52

ASOS have dropped quite significantly in the past week for no particular reason and I view this as the perfect opportunity to invest as I can see them bouncing right back up to the 5.50p mark in the next 2-3 weeks. STRONG BUY!!

people paying 81p now, I think there is too much upward momentum to see this falter at 80p. Yesterdays gain on announcement of results was very bullish imo.

I agree EW. I do think 80p is psychological, as you say i do not think there is any resistence to moving uo to a 1. If we can break over the 80p now i can now taste 1 before the turkey gets on the table!
Thanks for comment capa I was stating mid price, agree some already bought above 80P. hell of a share this one !!!

Hi, John. Thanks for repeating the question about BlueIndex and Cantor. Looking back, I missed your previous post because it appeared whilst I was doing one myself. Cantor are clearly too large but Blue Index do sound the ticket. I have had a chat with a Bob Condley(?) who has written until recently in Shares and very helpful indeed. Would trade small-cap such as ASC, YOO and AZM althoguh the first two probably on a 30% exposure and AZM on 20%. No minimum deposit. So they are sending through the details and I'll probably give it a whirl. Will report events on this column - fair or fowl!

Eric: You should be fine with Blue Index! John

got in at 60p on asc and now in the fantastic position of whether to sell or not?? up 34% about 2,300, what i can't understand is people still buying at 83p when they could of bought in at say 43p in AUGUST! is it really worth buying in still at this heady price? i wonder?????????????

cashcaptain: Should you buy more stock in ASOS now...depends on your trading position and approach. IMO the SP has some way to go yet....what you can count on though is that it will not do so in a straight line!

capa - 02 Nov 2004 13:20 - 658 of 5941

cashcaptain - well done. People like to buy a share when it is rising and sell when it is falling, as long as your research is correct and you are willing to back your judgement more money is made doing the reverse.

I have a sneaking suspicion that in a few months time the question will be equally as valid when the shares are in excess of a quid and the current price is looked on as being cheap.

I have been really impressed by some of those buys today. 80 odd grands worth at 84p phew !

Good question. Both johngtudor and I have build up to 50% of our holdings - as reported earlier. I am still a buyer and aiming to get a multiplier effect through CFDs. The main criterion I adopt is a judgement re capitalisation. Present cap (at 80p) is still only 54m. Turnover may be only 16m this year but fixed overheads will not be that much higher than last year. peg could still be less than 0.5 level or less than 1 if price doubles again and cap goes to 100K+. Suggest you hold through the interim statement on 29th November: see what the forecast is and how justified against the price then. Suggestions above say that the price will be 1 before Xmas. Not only hold, but accumulate.

"Not only hold, but accumulate" well put Eric

You're not going to believe this! If you asked the question 'who will not sell ASC?' you would answer 'that chap Eric who is always writing eulogies on them'. Confession - I have sold some ASC! Only 3% of my holding, mind. I really felt for my old pals on the EPO shipwreck who were left all alone after the rest of us went overboard. So I have just taken a wee stake again. Mind, there is just a faint light at the end of the tunnel. And, if it gets to the end of the tunnel then there is the little matter of return to the former prices or a 300% gain. And the shares in ASC I sold were bought with the proceeds from EPO sale and show a very healthy profit in a short space of time. Nevertheless, to demonstrate what an honest chap I am, I felt I should come clean! Mind you, I still propose to do the CFD on ASC.

Eric

capa - 02 Nov 2004 15:17 - 663 of 5941

Eric, better selling on the up than on the way down, but ASC today, CCN last week I'm beginning to fear for your sanity if not your honesty, which as a golfer should be beyond doubt.

speaking to a chap last week who declared that he would rather die than cheat at golf, he occasionally cheated at cricket and always did at football.

johngtudor - 02 Nov 2004 15:58 - 664 of 5941

Eric: You should show no emotion as a trader and maximize profits at all times! Or were you thinking that as the SP has crept up it is worth taking some of those gains? Anyway, I am glad to read that you see this BB as a sort of 'confessional'! So will you repent and place those CFD's? John

capa - 02 Nov 2004 16:38 - 665 of 5941

80p busted. Wasn't too difficult after all.

Nice 100,000 at 83p at the end to boot.

Any guesses as to where it will go tomorrow? Profit taking perhaps. I'm staying in and enjoying the ride.

EWRobson - 02 Nov 2004 18:55 - 667 of 5941

Really has been a great day for ASC. Volume the highest I have recorded over the last month with a 3:2 advantage for buyers. Two 100K purchases at the end of the day should have left the MMs short meaning another mark-up tomorrow first thing. What is most striking has been the persistance of buying throughout the day, whatever the price. I suspect we are going to see a lot more of that over the next couple of months. There just seems to have been a sea-change in trading patterns.

Not quite sure where golf comes in! I (boast! boast!) admit to being on a winning streak, picking up 45 yesterday for winning the vet's stableford - not only that, but no handicap cut as I won with 36 points (i.e. playing to your handicap for the uninitiated). I'm not sure which is worse: the chap who knows all the rules and occasionally twists them to his advantage; or the chap who has played for umpteen years, still doesn't know the rules and assumes what he likes to gain an advantage! In a way, we stock pickers are like the former! I think the whole thing is more like a hand of cards at bridge or poker when you are trying to use your knowledge of the rules and other's hands to maximise your winnings. Anyway, ASC are trumps so hold as many as possible - the occasional sacrifice is OK so long as you also make a profit on the other suit!

I am exhibiting dangerous signs of euphoria, bordering on insanity, but will sleep happy tonight, dreaming of birdies dressed attractively in dresses as seen on ....!

SEADOG - 03 Nov 2004 08:19 - 668 of 5941

johngtudor,

Could not wait, topped up at 84 this morning, and I was moaning when I initially went in at 70. Thanks again for the encouragement

EW
Been at the bottle?????????? SD

johngtudor - 03 Nov 2004 08:23 - 669 of 5941

SEADOG: I am delighted for you...clearly your early buy pushed the price up yet again. We could see much more SP movement yet! FYI I have now moved to a 60% weighting in ASOS. I go to sleep thinking about maximizing gains...no emotion like Eric, therefore no top slicing yet! Have a profitable day. John

Up again today, great stuff! Expected profit taking to kick in but so far so good... Just a qucik reminder that MPH have released a rns "agreement" with a Korean partner, Daikyung, to distribute and market the Jean-Charles de
Castelbajac ('JCC') brand in Korea until 2012.
