Biofuels Corporation. (BFC)

wilbs - 07 Jul 2004 19:47

The main activity of Biofuels is the large scale production and exploitation of biodiesel and glycerine following the construction and commissioning of the initial plant.

Biodiesel is produced from vegetable oils and, as an environmentally friendly product, can make a significant contribution towards reducing green house gases and meeting Kyoto targets.

** Toscafield, the investment vehicle belonging to former banking analyst Martin Hughes, is said to be considering putting forward a significant amount of money to take a bigger interest in Biofuels Corporation (BFC.L: Quote, Profile, Research). Dealers said Mr Hughes may be working with Mehmet Dalman, the former head of global equities at Commerzbank who last year set up a hedge fund Wealth Management Group.

Some hope maybe..

jimmy b - 18 Nov 2005 10:51 - 655 of 1184

Frampton ,if your around just a thought, ,,,, Is the plant ready to start producing soon ??,we are assuming there is a problem , if Toscafield are willing to pump money in maybe the plant works and the huge debt is the issue ,,it's still bad ,but ALL may not yet be lost ...

wilbs - 18 Nov 2005 11:34 - 656 of 1184

Ive updated the pic at the top. Im no expert in this kinda thing but it dont look finished to me.

ahoj - 18 Nov 2005 11:42 - 657 of 1184

Oil price has been quite stable during last few month. The fall was in $ not in other currencies. IMO
BTW, it's good to keep Americans happy

Frampton - 18 Nov 2005 15:24 - 658 of 1184

Hi Jimmy, I've been out most of the day again, trying not to think about this share, it's out of our hands now. It would be nice if you were right, but if they are about to start producing why can't the bank tide them over for a bit longer? If Toscafield put up a large amount of money they will presumably want a large proportion of the company not leaving much for existing shareholders.
I unfortunately also hold LGB, I had written them off, but I'm more hopeful of getting something back from them than BFC at the moment.
Sorry for being all doom and gloom but I feel there is little hope here, although I'm still hoping I am wrong.

jimmy b - 18 Nov 2005 16:08 - 659 of 1184

Your not being all doom and gloom Frampton , , i'm just looking for a positive ,which as you say may not happen , i hope they make an announcement sooner , rather than later ,just so we know , although i won't hold my breath as they were never very good at that either . Lets see what next week brings.

simonpaynton - 18 Nov 2005 16:28 - 660 of 1184

This is a bit of a pig, didnt see this coming...

Frampton - 18 Nov 2005 17:00 - 661 of 1184

Simon, if only we had.
Jimmy, although knowing something sooner rather than later would put us out of our misery I think for it to have any sort of positive outcome for us, it might take a while to negotiate. (By positive, I mean that we get some of our investment back, there is no way that this can open anything other than much lower, if it ever comes back from suspension at all)
As you say, lets see what happens next week

MRS Stock talk : Biofuel shares to be avoided
18-Nov-2005
Biofuels' suspension came as "something of a shock," says Ambrian
Partners. "We await the reasons why the company has suddenly found itself without cash having raised a further 30.6m only a few months ago."
Highlights the "disastrous" hedging arrangement which was put in place by the previous management team. "At this point, maybe questions need to be asked about the role of the bankers who set up the hedging arrangements for the company in the first place."
All in all, reckons this is a sorry mess and even if the company finds the funds to continue, "the shares are probably best avoided until the bio-diesel industry in the UK has proved itself." Has sell rating.

Frampton - 19 Nov 2005 12:52 - 663 of 1184

Great advice, unfortunately we have no chance of selling and might never have!

jimmy b - 19 Nov 2005 13:08 - 664 of 1184

Frampton have a look over on the other side ,people are starting to take action ,i don't know if it's going to do any good but i thought you may like to know . Cheers Jimmy.

Frampton - 19 Nov 2005 13:34 - 665 of 1184

Thanks Jimmy, I have just had a look over there. Alot of fighting talk going on, sounds good. If alot of retail investors join in, we must have some clout, for the amount of shares held between us.

Delays for Biofuels Nov 22 2005

By Evening Gazette

The WORLD'S LARGEST biofuel plant being built on Teesside may not be completed until spring next year, concerned workers said today.

Billingham-based Biofuels Corporation is building the 250,000-tonne a year biodiesel facility at Seal Sands.

Shares in the company were suspended last week after it went into cash crisis talks with its backers.

The company, which has seen costs rise from 21m to 28m, has already put back the date for the start of production several times after turf was cut last November

In its last update it said it would be in production by the end of 2005 but employees say the company seemed unlikely to meet the deadline.

A source said: "It doesn't realistically look like being up and running by February or March at the earliest."

Biofuels Corporation declined to comment

There you go Frampton ,,, i thought that would be what the problem was ,,,now are the banks going to carry on bailing them out ???...

Frampton - 22 Nov 2005 18:01 - 667 of 1184

Thanks for that Jimmy, just checking in for the first time today (I've been trying to ignore my portfollio as much of it is tied up in BFC). That is very dissapointing news, will the banks want to keep bailing them out? The managment have really let us down with all there lies on completion dates, I don't know what to say at the moment as this makes me so angry. I haven't checked out what the thoughts are over the road, but I don't think I'll bother 'till tomorrow, I want to forget about this mess tonight!

Frampton - 22 Nov 2005 18:02 - 668 of 1184

Thanks for the christmas trees Wilbs, I've only just noticed. I need more than that to cheer me up though...

jimmy b - 22 Nov 2005 18:59 - 669 of 1184

I think a win on the lottery might be the only thing at the moment Frampton .

Frampton - 23 Nov 2005 08:41 - 670 of 1184

I think you're right there Jimmy.
If the news story is correct it is just about the worse news possible. I always kept clinging to the hope that this plant would be producing by the end of december and that had to work in its favour for any funding issues. Now that appears not be the case, who will give them money when the deadline keeps getting put back and back, will it ever work at all?
However is there any reason to believe this journalists' knowledge is any better than the one saying Toscafield would put up more money at 80p a share?
As always the company leaves shareholders in the dark yet again.
I hadn't realised when I put so much money in this share how much of a gamble it was, I think I might well have ended up better off if I'd put it all into lottery tickets instead!

To any shareholders out there, David77 on ADVFN is collecting a list of small share holders, in case collectively we might wield more power. Email him at stonebanks@ntlworld.com with your name, amount of shares held, and whether you hold certificates or they are in a nominee account, if you're interested.

ahoj - 23 Nov 2005 09:43 - 671 of 1184

Is Blair clever enough to use the opportunity. He failed to help British Energy when it was cheap.... Tax payers are now paying the full price for it.

BGY was 3.5p at the time its shareholders were begging the government to help.

Frampton - 23 Nov 2005 10:37 - 672 of 1184

Sorry, but I can't see the goverment helping us out of this hole.

jimmy b - 23 Nov 2005 10:49 - 673 of 1184

Neither can i !!!,if you think Blair gives a s...t ,think again ,
Frampton you may have a point about journalists ,they are looking for a story ,what ever it is .. However i tend to believe that the plant will be delayed and that's why they are in further talks . Do the bank bail them out (again) or as they are saying over on the other side ,try to steal it . You may think i'm an optimist but i'm not sure we have lost all, i'm 50 - 50 ..
