It shows a fundamental lack of understanding of the relationships in the ME.

It would have been interesting to have concrete examples of Corbyn's theory that talking can solve these conflicts. To negotiate you have to know the aims and demands of the belligerents. What are those in reference to ISIL? Well they want control of everywhere from the Turkish border across Syria to the other side of Iraq. Hence; the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (the Levant being the old name for what is largely Syria now). That is a pretty difficult thing to negotiate. The closest situation would be Germany wanting control of Europe and then North Africa and Russia. Nevil Chamberlain tried the Corbyn approach and came back from chats with Mr Hitler with a piece of paper in which Hitler agreed to be a nice boy. Appeasement is the name of Corbyn's strategy.
