U+,

Yes I saw that news the other day.

You miss the point that a lot of people don't WANT to change!

Look at the growth of T+, considering their prices, is not exactly phenominal, is it? It is taking a long time for them to achieve a customer base, and I think you will see a competitor in the market place soon, maybe Tesco?

Please don't go down the personal abuse route when someone doesn't agree with you, debate is preferable surely?

utilitiesplus - 21 Nov 2003 13:34 - 68 of 242

Andy, this is not personal, using referal marketing we were the 3rd fastest growing company in 2002,11th best share performer 2002,these are incredible statistics.Yes the take up is slow and always will be with our method. The company has come a long way in the last 6 years and the bank balance speaks volumes,NO DEBT what so ever, aquisitions payed for in cash!! You will not see many companies that can pull this off especially in our market.

As for a competitor,it will not happen! Tesco wouldnt operate a networking system for a start and without this form of buisiness they could not compete on our level, yes they may aquire more services but on one billing platform,NO.Others have tried outside the energy market such as Virgin to get a national supplying liscense for gas and elec and they have failed..And until these companies go down the T+ route they will NEVER be able to offer ours prices!!!You as an exec should know this!!!

Therefore never mind how much people could save with us whether its 1000 p/a or 200 p/a the fact remains that if a customers brings all thier services to us they will have the best price package on the market barring NONE!!!

U+,

I am well aware of the products T+ offer, but they still aren't collecting customers at the rate they might, IMHO, and this MAY be down to consumer resistance to change, and nothing to do with tariffs and cross utility billing.

Tesco and Sainsbury's are now entering the fray, and would be trusted suppliers insofar as people trust their brand names, and yet they too aren't doing that well.

The carphone Warehouse seems to be doing very well, and theirs is a good scheme because they cross sell their mobile customers at the point of sale, and have nearly 50% of T+ customer total in a few months, and a much faster growth rate!

With regard to Tesco, they may not do cross utility billing, but there's nothing to stop them offering cross utility discounts, and referring one to the other! I'm not saying they are going to do it, just that it is a possibility.

I would be careful about claiming that T+ tariffs are guaranted to be the lowest, some of their phone tariffs aren't necessarily!

In truth it's hard to navigate the myriad of deaus being offered by so many6 suppliers, but to make a generic statement "we are the cheapest" is probably not possible, because it depends on so many factors, such as individual useage.

I agree T+ are a good company, and I did very well with them, but see some consolidation at this point, and i expect more competition to emerge!

Andy.

Results out on friday guys, should give an insight into where the business is going.

cheers GF.

Andy - 24 Nov 2003 09:14 - 72 of 242

GF,

Ok thanks, T+ is a company that I would expect to always improve on the previous ones, so the price should rise this week, IMHO.

goldfinger - 24 Nov 2003 15:34 - 73 of 242

cheers andy, up 13.5p as I post.

cheers Gf.

wansford - 24 Nov 2003 23:29 - 75 of 242

HI....My post of last week I feel has put a bit of life into this thread.
Alot of the postings on tjese sites seem to be very much along the lines arent we great or just look its gone up or down so much, but very little of hard info for one to consider to make an objective decision,so a few facts about T+ for you to make an informed investment decision,as follows.
T+,is a virtual utility company, owning no hardware as such in terms of networks, masts ,power stations or the like, being total reliant on its ability to get the best terms, from 02,T+,Opal telecom ,the power generators etc,so no nasty capital plant to renew, depreciate etc.
Its does not advertise at all,all selling costs are born by the distributors.
The distributors pay to join, and get paid when thy sign up a customer and an ongoing basis,as long as the customers stay with T+,ie the residual income.
The distributors are controlled and motivated by the senior distributors,so that the only staff directly employed are the call centre/customer service staff, plus accounting function and IT.
Now you will see that even as there is 10000 dists and 150000 customers, the lack of customers in relation to say carphone/talktalk @350.0k+ is not a big problem,if a dist does not sign up customers its not costing T+ just the dist.
In a way its a very wasteful system but as long as dist base keeps expanding then so does customers.
A sthe costs remain fixed the customer increase goes straight to bottom line,as also T+ has no debt, its a cash cow and will only get the hiccups when business declines.
To counter the argument MLM reaches saturation, even in the market place sinc e advent of carrier pre selection there is the ability to slowly increase market share which is happening.
The dream of financial independence draws people in ,but as can be seen from the figs 10.0k dist 150.0k customers a lot of people are dreaming not living the dream.
Yes there is competition from tesco.carphone uncle tom cobleigh and all but because we at T + work more on recommendation than advertising which I find has nil effect then we will keep gpoing at or near the best value end.
Yes there are companies cheaper on phone calls, mobile and occasionaly on gas and electricity but nobody bills on one bill/platform with as good across the board value, with excellent customer service as back up.
Unfortunately I did not get into shares at beginning of the year and have no intention now with p/e of 50+ and yield of 1.5
I dont know if U+ shares are options, but this is another area in which T + rewards its distributors.
Right the above is info ,not armp for the company and is put on the board to give some constructive reasons for investing only,my only interest is to explain it because as a distributor some waffle, hype and ignorance had been shown about the company.
Trust the above is of benefit to present or future investors.

Wow, i open my mouth and price drops 8 points in 2mins!!

Some very bad news for all people associated with T+ as John Joslyn one of the main factors of T+ died from a massively fatal heart attack at the age of 49,he will be very sadly missed by all involed with T+.

Mark

chock - 27 Nov 2003 14:23 - 81 of 242

Telecom plus has gained 9.3% to 371.5p over five days. On 17 September it said it expects the financial performance for the year ending 31 March 2004 will be significantly ahead of market expectations at the time. After the announcement of its interims tomorrow, 28 November, the directors intend to pay an interim dividend of 4.5p, an increase of 80% compared with the same period last year.

WOW

chock

goldfinger - 27 Nov 2003 15:46 - 82 of 242

Chock theres profit taking going on prior to results in the morning, was to be expected, seems to happen in nearlly all stocks at the moment.

Im sure we will see a quick recovery and then a march on upwards. To get in top 250 depends what other companies do aswell but Robbie Burns the Frequenttrader is very confident they will do it, and this would mean exposure to far more Trusts/institution buying. They love stocks like this that plod up northwards.

Im looking towards a very healthy 2004 on this one.

cheers gf.

goldfinger - 28 Nov 2003 08:35 - 83 of 242

Wow, cracking results even better than I expected. The rise in profits is outstanding and growth shows no sign of tailing off. Will add when the spread narrows.

chears GF.

mitch - 28 Nov 2003 09:27 - 84 of 242

I take it that the sudden drop is due to the MMs trying to panic holders into selling?

Mitch

goldfinger - 28 Nov 2003 09:32 - 85 of 242

Crikey it has dropped aswell. Mitch can only think that is the reason as the results seem to have gone down very well with the online media. Cant find fault with the results. Wonder if MMs are expecting big demand for stock as news gets out.

Anyway I think it will settle down and Im very bullish on this stock med/long term.

cheers Gf.
