THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

A leading Shadow Cabinet moderate has issued a "sack me if you dare" challenge to Jeremy Corbyn by attacking the Labour leader's support for Stop the War and demanding the sacking of Ken Livingstone as a defence policy adviser.

Amid talk of a “revenge reshuffle” after the Syria vote revolt, shadow culture secretary Michael Dugher lashed out at the left-wing Labour leader’s anti-war views and bitterly attacked Mr Corbyn’s long-time ally, the former London mayor.

In a highly provocative interview in which he pulled no punches in his attacks on Labour’s new leadership, Mr Dugher urged Mr Corbyn to confront the Stop the War leadership when he meets them at a fundraising dinner later this week.

"I think it might be quite useful if he went along to it because he can have a word with them as their former chairman and say to them ‘stop the intimidation, stop the abuse and stop the talk of deselections and going after Labour MPs who voted in a way they didn’t approve of’," he said.

Earlier this week, the Green Party MP Caroline Lucas announced she was quitting Stop the War because of her opposition to some of its recent statements, a move that has increased pressure on Mr Corbyn to disown the group and snub its dinner.

PHEW .

cynic - 11 Dec 2015 07:48 - 66094 of 81564

french national front
the results in the recent elections in france are not hugely surprising given how recent was the paris massacre

however, france has always had a strong undercurrent of racism, whether anti-semitic or anti-black ......
it is perhaps over the channel that should be causing more concern than the clown over the pond

VICTIM - 11 Dec 2015 08:16 - 66095 of 81564

What a total scumbag Corbyn is , to think he is actually leader of the opposition is very scary .

cynic - 11 Dec 2015 08:24 - 66096 of 81564

i am sure he is sincere in his beliefs

however, he does not seem to remotely grasp that views you can hold and even publicise as a backbencher may not be compatible with the high profile and public face of a (shadow) cabinet member, let alone leader of a serious political party

MaxK - 11 Dec 2015 08:25 - 66097 of 81564

To which clown are you referring?

VICTIM - 11 Dec 2015 08:28 - 66098 of 81564

And the fact that he got voted in as leader in the first place is equally scary .

cynic - 11 Dec 2015 08:33 - 66099 of 81564

max - donald trump of course

v - it goes to show how much power the (militant) unions have over the labour party ...... for all that, there appear to be a lot of the younger generation with whom he resonates ...... though wisdom and common sense do not necessarily come with age, they frequently do as does the realisation of the necessity for pragmatism in the real world, and especially that of politics

MaxK - 11 Dec 2015 08:36 - 66100 of 81564

OK, Trumpo.

Why do you think he is attracting so much support?

VICTIM - 11 Dec 2015 08:42 - 66101 of 81564

Trump has Golf interests in Scotland , he's doing things at Turnberry next . I wonder if Sturgeon will avoid any confrontation with all this talk .

cynic - 11 Dec 2015 08:49 - 66102 of 81564

max - try talking to red-neck mid-westerners and you'll know

MaxK - 11 Dec 2015 09:03 - 66103 of 81564

I have c, nice people for the most part.

Donald Trump: “I have done so much for Scotland”

US presidential hopeful Donald Trump has claimed the UK has a “massive Muslim problem” as a petition to bar him from visiting Britain topped 400,000 signatures.

US presidential hopeful Donald Trump has claimed the UK has a “massive Muslim problem” as a petition to bar him from visiting Britain topped 400,000 signatures.

The property tycoon and reality TV star, who is seeking the Republican nomination for next year’s presidential election, sparked outrage with his call for Muslims to be barred from entering the US and his claim that parts of London were so “radicalised” that police feared for their lives.

Mr Trump also claimed yesterday that he should be thanked for investing in Scotland instead of stripped of an honorary degree and axed as a business ambassador.

Robert Gordon University (RGU) in Aberdeen this week revoked the doctorate of business adminisration he was awarded in 2010 amid outrage over his calls for Muslims to be barred from entering the US.

And First Minister Nicola Sturgeon removed his membership of the GlobalScot business network.

A poll on the parliamentary website calling for his exclusion from the UK raced past the 100,000-signature threshold to be considered for debate in parliament and looked set last night to top the current record of 446,482.

But polls taken in the US after the remarks were publicised showed a spike in support among Republican primary voters, with Mr Trump on around 35 per cent and as many as 20 points ahead of his main rivals.

Mr Trump wrote on Twitter yesterday : “The United Kingdom is trying hard to disguise their massive Muslim problem. Everybody is wise to what is happening, very sad! Be honest.”

Earlier, he attacked Nicola Sturgeon and other UK politicians for “pandering to political correctness”.

Mr Trump, whose mother was from Lewis, owns two golf courses in Scotland – Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire and Trump Turnberry in South Ayrshire.

He said: “I have done so much for Scotland, including building Trump International Golf Links, Scotland, which has received the highest accolades, and is what many believe to be one of the greatest golf courses anywhere in the world.

Additionally, I have made a significant investment in the redevelopment of the iconic Turnberry resort.

“If they – Nicola Sturgeon and RGU - were going to do this, they should have informed me prior to my major investment in this £200 million development, which will totally revitalise that vast region of Scotland.

“The UK politicians should be thanking me instead of pandering to political correctness.”

cynic - 11 Dec 2015 09:14 - 66105 of 81564

max - no doubt, like me, you meet the educated ones and not the ones who think leaving their state is going abroad, or the white supremacists and similar in the southern states

VICTIM - 11 Dec 2015 09:18 - 66106 of 81564

Well Trumps right in some ways eg politcal correctness .

cynic - 11 Dec 2015 09:24 - 66107 of 81564

i confess i have never bothered to listen to him, but if he is saying that political correctness has got way out of hand, then he's absolutely right ..... we all see unbelievable nonsense spoutings on a daily basis of what is or is not supposedly acceptable

jimmy b - 11 Dec 2015 09:32 - 66108 of 81564

I don't like Trump let's get that out of the way first ..

However why should he be banned from Britain for his view when we have the likes of anjem choudary and his band of assholes preaching hatred on our streets ,why are they not banned ?

Roll out Goebells!

---

Any day of the week I would prefer to shake hands with Corbyn than a consummate liar as many think Cameron.

Read his tour of Europe was a success story.

But arrives home to cheers and defence of postponement of Heathrow, is spite of having an enquiry stating that it should be extended.

Who appointed the enquiry and at what cost?

-=-==

Mind he is a business man and pragmatic liar.

Thank god he is incompetent as well.

cynic - 11 Dec 2015 09:49 - 66110 of 81564

i have a feeling that choudary was already a uk resident or similar when he started on his soapbox

however, i really do feel it is totally appalling that he and his ilk, and those who commit serious crimes (to be defined) cannot have their passports revoked and be repatriated whence they came, with just UK COURTS having the jurisdiction and ruling

the process we now have is preposterous, and of course fully exploited as is the current right

frankly, i really do not think that in these circumstances the fact that they may not receive fair trial or be subject to torture or any number of nasty things in their country of origin should be but a very minor factor to be taken in to account by UK COURTS ....... to use the hackneyed phrase; if you can't do the time, don't do the crime

VICTIM - 11 Dec 2015 09:51 - 66111 of 81564

So you would shake the hand of a man who pleaded with a Judge to let a convicted fraudster/scam merchant have Xmas at home , nice one . Did this Corbyn scumbag offer to go to see the victims of these crimes , that is against 70 80 90 year olds I bet not , but just shows the depths you drop to on your one man campaign of stupidity .
