A new non-java Stockwatch is ready to try out - Technical Beta Test

IanT(MoneyAM) - 29 Jan 2014 07:42

As I'm sure you are aware, we and many of you have had a long and tiresome battle with Java when trying to use our streaming services. We have therefore been working on a solution to remove this problem.

We are pleased to announce that we have a new stockwatch available for use which no longer uses Java. We are currently making this available as a technical beta version, which means we are interested in your feedback regarding performance, bugs and browser/operating system/device compatibility issues (note: design and styling will be addressed in later beta releases).

For the purpose of allowing the old and new stockwatch versions to run concurrently, the technical functionality of the new stockwatch mimics the old one for now (not style, fonts or look). Editing and managing watchlists uses the same process as the current java stockwatch but is now at the top of the page. This will allow you to switch between the versions should you have any problems. All technical features of the current stockwatch are available in the new version except for the ability to drag resize columns. In the near future and as we migrate away from the java version of stockwatch, we will add new usability features as well as design it up to make the whole stockwatch experience smoother than it has ever been.

As this new version does not require java, you should expect it to work on your android devices and ipad/iphones. For now the display has not been optimised for smaller screens, but this will come in future development.

NOTE: Due to javascript performance in Internet Explorer 8, this new stockwatch can cause high CPU load. We recommend you use a current version of a modern browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox for best results.

The new version can be found on the following link:

http://www.moneyam.com/stockwatch/beta.php

NOTE: Non java versions of streaming trades, streaming news and level 2 will be released over the coming weeks.

Please do not worry about design/style at the moment as this version has not been styled it is purely a technical beta test environment it will be styled before it is released. We have put this here purely for feedback on its technical functionality i.e does it work in your browser and on your PC/Laptop/Tablet/Mobile

Please post your technical feedback in this discussion thread

Thank you for your feedback and we hope you enjoy it

Level 2 is shot as well. Has been like it all day. GKP, AFR and QPP look as if they are in auction but GENL, SGP and JDG are fine. It's not a SETS v SETS MM issue, just random stocks.

Any chance of a refund for the day please?

Just a thought, can you make the colours on the stockwatch page for the T.price column red/blue [and stay that colour until the next trade goes through] to denote a buy or sell price. i know this is done on the trades page and isnt a 100% true reflection as the colouring is based on a higher or lower than mid price.
On many shares the buy/sell is obvious from the spread but sometimes the smaller shares trade in points of pennies and show up with the bid/ask as the same digits due to decimal placings.

At last it is working on my Dell Windows 8.1 laptop.

An issue I've noticed in the last week or so:

Delayed trades e.g. delayed 1 hour, show the current time. They used to show the time they were executed. On the trades screen they show with the correct time, the issue is only on the Stockwatch.

Its one of the finest streaming services for stock quotes since the war; but can you fix it so that the red ink and minus sign stop appearing after the quotes for stocks that I own, Many thanks, jim

Everything works well but why have you changed the colour of stocks going down? Red is a much easier colour to see than this rather dull purple.

I would support badge's comment.

Me too.

Red is red, as it were. Burgundy isn't.

Stan - 12 Dec 2014 13:37 - 677 of 734

Not me as I'm now used to it... Burgundy Isn't blue either E/L.

ExecLine - 12 Dec 2014 14:18 - 678 of 734

Burgundy is 'blued-up' red.

There just isn't enough blue to go round. No wonder we can't get a proper blue on the market if people are wasting loads of blue to blue up the reds.

As it were...

"Burgundy (French: Bourgogne, IPA: [buʁ.ɡɔɲ] ( listen)) is an administrative and historical region of east-central France. Burgundy comprises the following four departments: Côte-d'Or, Saône-et-Loire, Yonne and Nièvre. Historically, "Burgundy" has referred to numerous political entities, including kingdoms and duchies spanning territory from the Mediterranean to Benelux."

... How many more times, There ain't no blue in Burgundy -):

Hi, why have you changed the line spacing again on the Watchlist? It was so much better without the line of spaces, as originally. Thanks Nik

solid - 18 Dec 2014 08:07 - 681 of 734

very clear
