Hi Rich, sorry off thread, but have you been keeping a close eye on TAN. Very positive at the mo, and looking good for a total recovery. IMHO DYOR.

cynic - 01 Oct 2008 19:49 - 666 of 896

hope u r right as still hold 10k of the damn things .... peanut money i know, but would be very nice indeed if TAN managed to wheedle its way back into favour!

HARRYCAT - 02 Oct 2008 08:43 - 667 of 896

IEC looks like a good investment at anywhere near 10. Already in profit & looking good this morning at 1063p.

cynic - 02 Oct 2008 10:16 - 668 of 896

at 1092, no longer the out and out bargain it was a few days ago ...... though the agreed bid is at 1250, there is still an element of doubt re completion, and also the time factor (i know it is allegedly only about 4 weeks away), so a discount of about 10% is not unreasonable

cynic - 07 Oct 2008 08:21 - 669 of 896

looking useful buy level again at +/-960 considering accepted bid of 1250 already on table

HARRYCAT - 07 Oct 2008 08:47 - 670 of 896

In & out imo, as it's possible this may not go ahead at the price. Oil price expected to fall further.

robertalexander - 08 Oct 2008 17:04 - 671 of 896

looking cheap if t/o offer still good

required field - 09 Oct 2008 11:17 - 672 of 896

At long last some good news for my portfolio....(see afx) !.

HARRYCAT - 09 Oct 2008 13:16 - 673 of 896

ALMATY, Oct 9 (Reuters) -" Indian state-run oil producer ONGC will seal its deal to buy Russia's Imperial Energy 'any day now', a source close to negotiations told Reuters on Thursday.

In late August India's biggest oil producer agreed a takeover of the mid-sized, London-listed Russian oil producer for $2.6 billion.

'It's ongoing. We should expect the deal to finalise any day now,' said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

In early September India's oil minister Murli Deora said the deal was expected to be completed by the end of this week."

if you have funds, surely IEC is an ace buy today at about 910 with completion of the deal almost certainly imminent (like within a couple of days), with no indication of price being renegotaiated from the promised 1250

HARRYCAT - 10 Oct 2008 08:47 - 675 of 896

Not possible to buy on-line. No quantity being offered.

BigTed - 10 Oct 2008 09:31 - 676 of 896

Harry you really need IG mate, answer phones straight away and dealing no probs... i'm still contemplating if i can risk the funds to buy a chunk...

BigTed - 10 Oct 2008 09:31 - 677 of 896

I was trying to buy at 900p, Big T! It was only there for a minute. I could have phoned Selftrade, but by the time a trader had agreed a price, 900p would have gone up in smoke! Everything is done by the touch of a button these days. For better or worse!

cynic - 10 Oct 2008 09:38 - 679 of 896

bit of a spread at the mo at 970/995, but still quite volatile ...... surely at 950 a gift, and not so bad at this level

BigTed - 10 Oct 2008 09:45 - 680 of 896

Really questioning my strategy - cant bring myself to buy now i know they were 910 an hour ago... wrong way to look at things i know and should really be buying some with the deal (surely, now) a certainty

required field - 10 Oct 2008 09:56 - 681 of 896

For some stocks ...it takes ages for the dealers to put them through...makes trading very difficult when a good price is only there for a few minutes !.

dealerdear - 10 Oct 2008 09:58 - 682 of 896

at one point the spread was 950 - 1000

required field - 10 Oct 2008 10:01 - 683 of 896

It's not certain the takeover will go through.....!.
