Hi Everyone,
To complement the new html stockwatch, we've just released a new version of the Trades page which provides a non-Java version of streaming. In addition there is a tidier layout and some more information on the page than before. For people having problems with the new version, there is still the option to choose the Java Streaming version on that page.
Please provide feedback of bugs etc.
Thanks
George

One thing - the red/blue meter does not update unless I click on the GO button.

dell314: We are working on this change.
Mo06: Yes, that's correct, the gauge doesn't update after the page is loaded.

Greek, Baler is right about Firefox speed. You could
downlaod Firefox and keep IE as well. I have them both now
but still use IE for most sites, as some things are superior imo
e.g. having the favouries dropdown with the bar at the
top of the favourites column for immediate access to sites
one uses often. Firefox does not seem to match that with
its bookmarks, or if it does I have not found it anywhere.
I find its alphabetical list is a nuisance.
But for accessing the MAM stockwatch page it is superb.

Morning George,
Still having problems with trades, see post 69 and the problem is now more frequent, I use IE.
I have seen the suggestions re Firefox but I have an old laptop that has very little space left so want to resist loading Firefox as my machine already struggles a bit.
Suggestions re trades on IE or will I have to load Firefox.
Edit..........Just tried again and trades came up immediately after lots of probs earlier, strange or what.

Been using the Non java trades page for a while. Two observations:-
1. Seems to take longer to load than the Java version, and sometimes seems "sticky" with long periods "connecting".
2. The red for the sells doesn't stand out as well as on the Java version. I see the point has already been mentioned, but I also do find the non java colours have better contrast. The non java version is more a maroon I would say. Why not keep the existing colour tones in the new format across the board?

55011 makes some valid points. I experience the same.
Some thoughts: The previous dropdown menu to access
earliest or highest volume trades etc. was imo far
superior and much quicker than the present
time-consuming process of entering what one
wants manually, which in any case is not
explained adequately on the trades page. I don't
use this as I never get what I want.

One further point.
Hitherto when the trades page timed out, a click on "trades" brought it back - as was. Now the EPIC has to be re-input each time to get the trades to show.

55011: That has already been mentioned by
a few of us, but George and his team think the
new system is an improvement. Can't see why and how!
Ah, well.

I also think the new format and system is an improvement and once the few teething troubles are sorted, it will be better than ever.

Hi greekman. If you are using IE8, you will see a world of improvement by changing your browser, and that's not just on our site. Your entire internet experience will be enhanced. I can't recommend changing away from IE strongly enough.
55011: As you saw, the colours have been mentioned before. It's a design issue so the feedback has been passed on and maybe it will be changed across the board. I do agree that it's not as vivid now, but I'm sure you understand that as this site has been built over time, it's has become a bit of a mishmash of styles so we are trying to fix this.
Regarding connection times, in our experience the new version is always faster. Are you using an old browser? We also never see it hanging on Connecting. Do you have a proxy server or firewall that could be breaking the connection? When this happens, have you also brought up the java version and seen that working ok? If not, maybe you also have the problem with Java. We are interested in debugging connection issues.
Next issue, yes, it no longer automatically enters the last EPIC code you entered last. There are several places to click that will prefill the trade epic though such as the T on stockwatch. However if you click Trades in the main menu it offers a fresh page. This reduces wait times, unnecessary connections and you having to delete a code that you didn't intend to look at. If you just want to refresh the page while you are on it, don't click Trades but press F5 to refresh. If you are a free user getting redirected via contention, you can try clicking back in your browser but that may not work.
midknight: I understand you are not happy with the new page but I'll explain why we think it is an improvement.
1) It works on the following devices that previously it would not work on: Apple mac less than v10.7.3, ipad, iphone and all android devices.
2) We spend less time doing desktop support for customers who cannot get their Java working, telling people to clear caches, cookies, uninstall, reinstall, upgrade, login, logout etc.
3) There is more information on the page than there used to be
4) There are less adverts on the page than there used to be
5) The design looks more modern overall.
You mentioned 'time-consuming process of entering what one wants manually'. You don't need to do this. Just click the filter option, leave the defaults and click GO. Then click the column header you want to sort on.
Allowing the sorting to be done on column header click brings it in line with other applications. It also makes it much easier to add ascending and descending sorting to any column should we wish to without having a long list to choose from. It also was confusing because it previously hinted you could filter on the live stream, which you could not.

Also, why hit the trades button again when it times out? if you use the back button on the browser it refreshes what youv'e just been looking at as on the stock watch page.

Thanks for the input, George. As Greek says,
on the whole the Trades page is a vast improvement
with all the new features. Will try what you say
with the epics
Have a good day and weekend.
