Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

What I don't quite understand about the EU is that every country within the Union has to agree on matters, yet it seems that Merkel can fast track the Turks into the Union without the other 27? member countrys' having a say on it.

Whatever party is in power in each Euro country , it seems the actual voters/people of these countries are treated with utter contempt by the Euro crats , making a nonsense of the actual usefulness of the EU or even it's existence .

Tennis scandal....not surprised....a lot of these fixed bets are probably from players heading towards their career end when they can't put in the performances like they used to....(not pointing the finger at anyone)....(:))...football is the same....

An average of 2000 migrants a day entering the EU against an average of 242 a day last year. National news seems to have gone very quiet on immigration, of course it wouldn't help the BSE camp if too much bad publicity were screened.

EU referendum
it is for very good reason that all of us view any politician's pronouncements with considerable cynicism
some already have entrenched positions on this very important issue, and it is not they who require persuading one way or the other
i'm not sure that the "out" brigade bring anything new to the table so let's see what DC is alleged to be bringing back from brussels
there is quite strong rumour that some considerable concessions with regard to benefits and immigration have been sorted out
one's immediate reaction is quite probably, "oh really? and if so at what price?"
it's a very sad sign of the times that no matter what success has been garnered by one means or another, we can never get ourselves to manage even a slight huzzah

''let's see what DC is alleged to be bringing back from brussels''-- I'm afraid that for many people he did not ask for enough in the first place.
As MaxK's link suggested, they (EU) will put up a (false) fight and then concede so that it looks like Cameron has won a great victory.

Each of the polls is coming up with different results. The poll yesterday was jumped on by the people wanting out. The reality is probably that it is evenly split at the moment.

With so many hospitals on red or black alert and losing approx £2b last year, with so many people having to wait up to 7 days for a doctor's appt, with so many over-crowded schools, and with so many homeless people, surely the so called 'emergency brake' that Cameron has agreed with the EU needs to be implicated now.

GEORGE , Cameron's emergency brake on immigration if we become overstretched , your right we already have it's almost too late .
If he thinks we will go for that then dream on ,he is coming back with nothing .

''he is coming back with nothing''. I disagree on that score jimmy b. The EU need us in so they will make it look as if Cameron has got one over on them, and he will come back with the watered down requests he asked for. All this in the hope the electorate will see Cameron as a strong leader, which he is not.
