Personally interested in small time investing(gambling), developing an appetite for CFDs. Also developing an interest in Charting or TA.

I use Sharescope, Moneyam, Barclays, Comdirect and IC

By heck Stan, two days on the trot. You'll be well and truly in the chair on Thursday. This could even inspire a sudden progression with the good doctor.

Beer sales in pubs have slumped to their lowest level since the 1930s, brewery representatives have said.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7102937.stm
"A pub is the proper place to enjoy a drink in a responsible and regulated atmosphere."

Stan - 20 Nov 2007 07:58 - 676 of 1427

The BBPA said tax on beer had increased by 27% since 1997 - compared to 16% for wine, 3% for spirits and 11% for cider.

Think the comment above illustrates yet again how this pretend Tory government has taxed this industry compared with the real one! As for the quoted slump comment in the first year of the smoking ban I would have been surprised if sales had not decreased, they are merely inline with other countries that have brought in such sensible laws on this subject.

With a government like this, then not a lot of point bothering with Norton Internet Security Suite for ourselves is there:
(Not that enforced staff cutbacks and bottom line watching would hve had anything to do with it...)

Alistair Darling has blamed mistakes by junior officials at HM Revenue and Customs after details of 25 million child benefit recipients were lost.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7103566.stm

"Revenue and Customs says it does not think the records - names, addresses, date of birth, national insurance numbers and bank accounts - have fallen into the wrong hands. "

Well, that's certainly reassuring, isn't it?

Remind me to vote for the 'Monster Raving Looney Party' next time round... unless someone forms the 'Monster Pie & Pint Part' (aka as MP3..... !!!)

"unless someone forms the 'Monster Pie & Pint Part' (aka as MP3..... !!!). Will put it on the agenda for Thursday night -):

'Part' should of course been 'Party' .....

I presume it's still Wellingtons at 17.00?

Stan - 20 Nov 2007 18:53 - 680 of 1427

Absolutely.

survived87 - 20 Nov 2007 19:24 - 681 of 1427

..... todays events can give a new take on the saying:
"Had a good day at work, Darling"

survived87 - 20 Nov 2007 20:50 - 682 of 1427

OK. Thursday. 17.00. Let's see if the goverment can give away the personel details of the other half of the population by then. (Wouldn't surprise me).
This'll have repercusions for years.....

Also, guess it'll now be an answer to a Computer Technology exam question i.e.
Q/.How much data can you fit on to one CD?
A/.Enough to give personal details of 12.5m people.

And a final thought on the matter from Herodotus in 480 BC (In this instance I think BC = Before CD's):
"Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."

survived87 - 21 Nov 2007 13:26 - 683 of 1427

Stan .... have you received any communication from CMC / DL to confirm venue tomorrow night?

Stan - 21 Nov 2007 13:30 - 684 of 1427

Yes.

55011 - 21 Nov 2007 14:07 - 685 of 1427

Going to a CW effort in London tonight. May be like the one that was pulled last week in Brum. If it is still like it was a few years back the venue will be interesting -Bloomberg's. I've never seen an office set up like it.

Should be OK for tomorow, If I can remember where the boozer is. You'd be surprised how many local workers hadn't got a clue last time...........

I think Stan - in view of what looks more and more like an invincible position - should approach MAM for an advance, something on account, so we can toast his brilliance. At his expence, naturally.

Stan - 21 Nov 2007 15:24 - 686 of 1427

Sadly 55 the date is only 21st Nov. and not 30th Nov...many a slip and all that -):

Stan - 22 Nov 2007 09:56 - 687 of 1427

Get your thinking caps on for our Pre-Midwinter Break Meal, can I suggest a couple of dates
13th Thur.and 12th Wed. of December for starters.

Venues and times to be discussed and hopefully Fred will be in a position to pass a fitness test by then.

We may have 2 new faces tonight from T2W by the way.

ED; Don't forget the Welly's excellent live board: http://www.thewellingtonrealale.co.uk/Pages/BeerBoard.asp

The 'Pig on the Wall Mild' was good last time. Think I'll steer clear of Coastal Rrosion @7.6 % ....

55011 - 22 Nov 2007 14:02 - 689 of 1427

Quite a respectable range there, not much of a price differential for strength, though. Time was when Mild...........

55011 - 22 Nov 2007 14:07 - 690 of 1427

Oh, just setting off. I'll bring last night's "slides" with me in case anyone is interested - the SG CW presentation that is. Some good points made from the floor, and were not to the speakers liking! Caveat Emptor as ever.

Be aware that Selftrade (Boursorama) intends to pimp its website over this weekend - hope it not like the railway engineering which sometimes drags on into Monday or ...........

Fred1new - 22 Nov 2007 14:43 - 691 of 1427

Let me try to get you boys back to work.

This maybe one for 55, but DYOH.

Worth a look MPI.

I made a mistake and did not sell at a 5% drop. It has cost me more than I should have allowed.

I thought the fundamentals justified a higher price than the market was paying for it at the time, although anybody with any sense looking at the TA would have sold.

It has a PE of about 15, projected 9, and peg of. .25 projected .34. a yield of 2.4% up to 3%.

Projection of turnover and profits support the figures.

The antipathy is whether or not the economy is going to contract and MPI function will be less needed and profitable.

I think that SP is likely to be on the upturn, but probably better to watch for a bit longer.

There has been director buying today and no recent institutional selling.

(What has interested me over the last six months (including last two mths,) that there seems to be a balance of more buying to selling by directors over the whole market. I am judging this by reported directors trading in own companies.) I hope this is not false optimism.

Work is just a but pint away....

Stan - 22 Nov 2007 22:28 - 693 of 1427

Hope everyone got home OK, managed to get a train that should have gone 3 minutes before for the second time on the trot.

Good presentation I thought, no bull and too the point...pity that the tuck/drink was a bit basic but worth the time I thought.

Chris, more good piece of news re EXPN this afternoon I see.
