Israeli Gaza conflict?????? (GAZA)

Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?

If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?

Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?

What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

Maybe they would throw a lot of stones at you if you were stealing their land. Struggle and resistance is their only chance of a reply.

I don't know how anyone can be an ally of Israel. Israel is fast becoming one of the most hated nations on earth. Funny thing is that Palestinians think BBC biased against them.

The commentator opened with something like: These people are demonstrating about a conflict thousands of miles away about something this Country has nothing to do with.. What!

In the Balfour Declaration letter one nation solemnly promised to a second nation the country of a third. More than that, the country was still part of the Empire of a fourth, namely Turkey.

The area of Iraq and Kuwait created when the Ottoman Empire broke up in WWI and was later partioned 1922. There were no displaced people or refugees or people who had land stolen. The Aborinial problem is too far back in history to undo, although more could be done for them as with native Indians.

The problem with Israel is very different. It is within living memory for a start. There are several million Palestinian refugees still living in camps since 1948 and 1967. There are people still alive who had land and property stolen by Israel as it expanded. This process still continues to this day. There are members of the Israeli government who believe, and say so, that Israel should stretch to the Jordan rivet. This would wipe out the West Bank. Israel is not and never has been interested in a two state solution. They just use it as a delaying tactic while they settle and steal more land.

Even the original Balfour agreement said this, "it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine".

Israel operates an apartheid regime worse than that of South Africa.

Major news organisations including the BBC, the New York Times and al-Jazeera have admitted that the statistics used to portray the number of deaths in Gaza during the ongoing conflict may not be accurate.

An indepth analysis of the widely-used Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) figures found that statistics emerging from the region show a "disproportionate" number of civilian casualties.

The most recent report on August 6 claims 1,843 Palestinian civilians including a reported 415 children have died as a result of Israeli fire.


The BBC analysis of the statistics found that "there were 216 members of armed groups killed, and another 725 men who were civilians. Among civilians, more than three times as many men were killed as women, while three times as many civilian men were killed as fighters."

The list of names and ages of the dead published by al-Jazeera also found men aged between 20 and 29 to be "significantly overrepresented".

The New York Times reached a similar conclusion in its analysis, stating: "The Times analysis, looking at 1,431 names, show that the population most likely to be militants, men aged 20-29, is also the most overrepresented in the death toll."

It doesn't matter much as both sides have been lying about all sorts of things. You can't expect groups at war to tell the truth. The veracity of information is itself a legitimate weapon. The first casualty of war is the truth.

Britain said last week it was reviewing all arms export licenses to Israel after fierce fighting which has resulted in heavy civilian casualties in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza.

That review concluded on Tuesday that 12 licenses would be temporarily suspended pending further investigation if the current truce breaks down and heavy fighting resumes.

"The UK government has not been able to clarify if the export license criteria are being met," Business Secretary Vince Cable said in a statement.

"In light of that uncertainty, we have taken the decision to suspend these existing export licenses in the event of a resumption of significant hostilities."

I have seen them. There were appearing during July. I traced most of them back to Israeli news services such as Ynet by checking date of publication. They are very similar to ones a couple of years ago about luxury shopping malls in Gaza. In fact there was one that had 6 shops in it. There have been lots of stories about luxury hotels. The political leader of Hamas, Kalid Meshaal, does live in a luxury hotel in Doha but that is because of the fact that Israel has tried to assassinate him several times.

The ones who I would expect to be corrupt are the leaders of Fatah. In particular, the head of security comes from humble origins but owned several hotels in other countries less than a year after being in his job. Of course it is not worth listing the Israeli government ministers, including Prime Ministers, who have been indicted for corruption and fraud.
