Will this increase or decrease the likelihood of terrorist actions in America, Europe and the rest of the world?
If you were a member of a family murdered in this conflict, would you be seeking revenge?
Should Tzipi Livni and Ehud Olmert, be tried for war crimes if or when this conflict comes to an end?
What will the price of oil be in 4 weeks time?

cynic will form his own view of this bloody and largely mindless conflict, caring not whether it is deemed to be patronising one side or another

oh, I doubt it.
Cynic appears to have a mind of concrete - thoroughly mixed and permanently set.

And what good will it do?
At how will it enable any future peace initiatives?
If the toll of life from the "disproportionate", how many further generations will have distorted views and attempt to wreak revenge?
The response, you appearing to be suggesting, is as primitive as the action of the people firing the rockets.
Both sides probably of the same genetic base.
Stupid.

MC
do you not think it better to reply knowing what it is you are replying to?
rather than basing it upon the assumption of what was said based upon latter replies by others.
i have never squelched anyone regardless of what they may have said or posted about me. how can i talk or negotiate with such persons if i choose to ignore them? that is a personal matter so i shall not delve further. i would however ask this further open question.. as follows. if we choose to squelch a poster and inform him so, i.e. we cannot read his/her post would it not be right and proper that we in turn do not comment on or refer to his/her same posts.
after they are squelched, they do not exist anymore as far as we are concerned.
they may exist to others, but not to us. so what right do we have to make comment on a post that we have chosen to squelch and not read?
am i mistaken?

jkd

Mr Charts - your self restraint is admirable.
I, on the other hand, am happy to state the obvious and point out that Fred's a prick.

JKD,
I occasionally used the squelch button, but reserve for individuals who I think rejoice in being grossly personally offensive to me, or others. Sometimes, attempts are made to pass off such remarks as humorous. Having written that, I do enjoy some political satire.
Also, I use the squelch button for those, who I think debate or present arguments at schoolyard, or farmyard levels of thought. (This probably sounds pompous, but now as I am retired, I am allowed my own comfort zones.)
However, I dont make guesses, or respond to what somebody has, or may write, without reading it first. I think that, if I was doing so, I would be bordering on the psychotic or be omniscient.
As yet, I have not squelched MrCharts, as generally I find his contributions amusing. Also, his postings may give an insight into some of the moral positioning, of some Israelis. In my mind, the positions appear to be of a similar nature to the more extreme positioning of some Palestinians.
I hope, these extreme positions are only held by the minorities of each group and the more rational may be able to negotiate sensibly.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I think of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, is based more on ethnic differences rather than a true racial divide (depending on usage of racial). I think, possibly, if the problem was approached with regard to the cultural and economic differences, a solution may be found. There would have to be a mutual acceptance of cultural differences and the enablement of Palestinians to develop a free truly independent economy and be fully self-governing, which is not dependent of the largess of an Israeli Government
That means allowing both groups of Palestinians to develop free trading route for Gaza and the West Bank.
There would also have to be a reversal of the recent Israeli Encroachment and Settlements on Palestinian land.

Fred .... you presuppose that the lunatics on both sides are capable of common sense
