Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).
Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.
cheers GF.

So if we exit the EU war is going to breakout. We will still be in NATO & Interpol. No wonder they have used a bunch Comedians to make that video

Part of what Janet Daley wrote in the Telegraph today. She also makes some interesting observations on how Cameron has made the referendum very personal.
"Anyone who pretends that he knows definitively what is, or is not, going to happen after this referendum, whichever way it goes, is either lying or deluded. Just trying to list the possibilities would take another column: a Leave vote could precipitate panic in Brussels and an immediate need for concessions to the UK or, on the contrary, it could provoke a vindictive bout of recrimination – which, as it happens, would damage the EU more than us. Or it could produce the dreaded “contagion” in which all the discontented populations of Europe rise up and clamour for the exit, thus causing the authority of the central institutions to collapse. Then again, the granting of more freedom to the UK could have the same effect.
Only one thing is certain: staying in on the terms of the present “deal” will do absolutely nothing to ameliorate the major dissatisfactions that we have with the EU. Most of the existing “concessions”, as almost everybody outside Downing Street can now see, are semantic blather and the few concrete alterations on benefits will have virtually no effect on inward migration, which would still be out of our control".

REFERENDUM
if any of you bothered to read the balanced reporting on page 7 in yesterday's telegraph as i suggested, the general conclusion that, apart from making our own decisions at least in theory, there really would be surprisingly little change in nearly everything from immigration to trading with eu
thus, apart from gut distaste for brussels and its interference, there is a more than tenable argument that uk should stay in
we then come to the great worry (so we are told) of all sorts of companies leaving uk, world economic turmoil, collapse of the eurozone and so on
unfortunately, it is impossible to determine how much of the above may indeed come to pass
it is very likely that there will indeed be some far-reaching consequences, but how serious these will be overall, and which just hadn't been foreseen, is one of the great unknowns

It's a bit beyond me why people would want to remain in the EU . we've all witnessed the last few years of mayhem and disbelief at the benefits anyone gets from outside coming in , surely it's turning into a nightmare , not to mention the leaders are un-elected ,and we are basically told what to do by a make it up as you go along Merkel . The fund manager Woodford has said that British banks are pretty solid but China and the European banks are not in too fine a state , how long before the next big bang . I don't think History can tell us anything about the situation , with such massive flows of people moving here and maybe only the start . The only answer the EU has to the problem is to let people in , and that's poor .

I read that evaluation of the ins and outs and didn't find it to be thorough or convincing either way. But I could think of a £billion a month reasons why it might be a good reason to leave. Also you cannot run a business by committee. Period.
Interesting also how Cameron always refers to Europe, not the EU. We need to be in Europe. A reformed Europe etc. We will still be in Europe when we leave the EU which has not reformed one iota.
We all knew Dave would not get anything worthwhile. He showed his hand before even starting the negotiations. Huff and puff. I'm working hard for Britain...while visibly putting on more weight. I am dining hard for Britain more like.

the further along the campaigning trail we go, the greater the obfuscation and half-truths from both sides
straight and truthful answers from anyone will be rarer than hens' teeth

Iturama what does Cameron do if the vote goes out . He's committed himself fully to staying in , what does he do resign . Why get yourself in that position , he should give reasons for and against and let the voters decide .

V,
he has to resign when we vote out and an "out" has to take over as PM. We cannot have a non believer making the necessary steps that will be required to move forward. Dave realises that he has painted himself into a corner and perhaps that's why his attacks on Boris rose to the personal level. You are right in that perhaps the PM should be above it all and allow reasonable debate on both sides. But he has simply reinforced the view he has had since the beginning and most of his cabinet has gone along with him. Hardly surprising since it takes real courage to dissent. The consequence is that is the government's position and the "Ins" have the apparatus of the government behind it, as well as the gimme politicians of various hues.

68386 - tell that to the labour party and corbyn .... doesn't really want to vote to stay in eu, and assuredly wants to get rid of trident!
btw, DC had to take a stand one way or another, and had little choice other than to back staying in eu

The old adage still holds true today of knowing the man by the company he keeps and our Dave has managed to attract a motley crew to his cause. The common thread of his new friends is socialism. Something for nothing.
Any business that ran that way would go bankrupt. Which is why so much of the EU is in total distress. Hardly surprising its citizens want to come here.
