Brexit: Chancellor Merkel warns UK on scope of talks with EU

German Chancellor Angela Merkel says some British people have "illusions" about discussing the UK's future ties with the EU at the same time as nailing down the UK's Brexit terms...........

EU officials estimate that the UK faces a bill of €60bn (£51bn; $65bn) because of EU budget rules. UK politicians have said the government will not pay a sum of that size.

About time to scare the Merkel ( bitch ) asking for Trillions of Euros for the danger she has created on this country on allowing the 1M refugees in Germany ( we all know by now that many were Migrants with Islamist ideas )

VICTIM - 29 Apr 2017 07:46 - 6869 of 12628

I see the EU 27 are having a meeting over our leaving , no doubt to scare the British voter into thinking how can we turn this around . Well i say 27 but we all know there will be one country making the moves .

Fred1new - 29 Apr 2017 22:30 - 6870 of 12628

Sounds like Brexiters.

Northern Ireland has now been without a government for four months and without any devolved ministers for two months.

From Wednesday, its parliament will be dissolved and it will then be impossible to return to Direct Rule for a period of at least five weeks.

Meanwhile, the EU is 'sticking it to the UK' and are about to offer NI's 'Remainers' a route to 'Remain' by joining Ireland. This will also solve 'the border problem'.

Will this 'EU revenge conspiracy' succeed and bring about the first part of the dis-unification of the UK, all as a penalty for the UK having the cheek to leave the EU?

Watch this space.

Fred1new - 30 Apr 2017 11:37 - 6872 of 12628

Wait until Cornwall petitions to become independent of the rest of the UK.

2517GEORGE - 30 Apr 2017 11:41 - 6873 of 12628

The Cornish will vote overwhelmingly to stay as part of the UK.

Fred1new - 30 Apr 2017 12:35 - 6874 of 12628

I thought there was a Cornish Liberation Front!

MaxK - 30 Apr 2017 14:13 - 6875 of 12628

There is a Cornish Liberation Front, it has two members, Sid and Doris Bonkers.

Australia and Canada urge UK to join ready made trade deals such as Nafta

By Tim Wallace
26 April 2017 • 3:29pm

Britain should look at joining trade blocs around the world as a quick way to boost free trade after Brexit, with top Australian and Canadian officials proposing the idea as an off-the-shelf way to boost the UK and world economies.

Joining Nafta - the group made up of Canada, Mexico and the US - would give British importers and exporters better access to those markets without a difficult negotiation, as long as the UK is happy to sign up to the deal that already exists. Some British MPs raised the idea last year, meaning it now has backers on both sides of the Atlantic.

Similarly, joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the deal which was due to be implemented between 12 countries including Australia and Japan until Donald Trump pulled the US out of the agreement, would cut the cost of trading with key nations across the world.

Cornwall voted 75% leave in the referendum.

Fred1new - 30 Apr 2017 19:35 - 6879 of 12628

Mark,

Have a close look at the said unemployment figures of those countries.

And have a close look at those figures and the effects of ZERO hour employment in the UK.

Check the data which the matron is delaying being publicised or is actually suppressing.

2517GEORGE - 30 Apr 2017 20:09 - 6880 of 12628

Unemployment rates for the under 25's in the likes of Greece, Spain and Portugal are significantly worse than the overall figures for those countries

MaxK - 30 Apr 2017 21:02 - 6881 of 12628

Fred.

I know all about zero hour contracts, being self employed for most of my working life, for me it's a fact of life.

However, the £7 an hour (de facto) self employed lark is a joke, a bad joke imo, and I agree with you, it's hidden unemployment, cos most cant earn enough to live.

ExecLine - 30 Apr 2017 22:13 - 6882 of 12628

Hmmm?

I suppose, that until we have negotiated ourselves out of the EU, that being still in it, we might be able to sign up to some of these 'rest of the world deals' and enjoy the best of both worlds.
