It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...
Real Madrid are starting to remind me of Bayern Munich of the mid-seventies......very talented ……(you don't win three European champions trophies by accident)….but there are similarities in the way they play....Bayern had a fair chunk of luck at the same time but also they would be times they would just chug through a game not doing anything remarkable and then punish the opposition very swiftly...Real are the same today.....: there will come a time when they will be punished severely because teams will get aware that if you attack them suddenly they will let in goals.....they have been a superb side over this last decade and deserve to stand amongst the greats !...but I feel their time is coming to an end......
The Leeds of 1975 were unlucky in the final Dil....could have been 2-0 up before Gerd Muller struck....(what a predator he was....)...foul by Franz Beckenbauer in the penalty area on Allan Clarke not given....goal by Peter Lorimer (worth a watch if you can access old replays ! )…..not given because the German players kicked up a fuss...offside by Billy Bremner…..if the game was played today : that strike would have counted as BB was not interfering with the ongoing play......I hope Leeds don't blow their promotion chances.....still a long way to go and every game is difficult.....once there...(if of course)...they might do a Leicester....ha ha...
PS.....I have a couple of crazy bets on Spurs winning the premiership....nuts I suppose but the odds are good at the mo....don't they seem to want to give Dele Ali and Co much chance of winning the title.....they are not that far behind and are playing extremely well without two world class players !....
Wales finest (Swansea City) through to the next round of the FA Cup I see Dil, you must be very proud that the only Welsh team in the Principality are doing so well?
