Birmingham Pie and a Pint

Fred1new - 31 Oct 2004 17:08

Any punters living in Birmingham Area interested in a Pie, Pint and jaw, one evening in a pub in Birmingham area.
Personally interested in small time investing(gambling), developing an appetite for CFDs. Also developing an interest in Charting or TA.

I use Sharescope, Moneyam, Barclays, Comdirect and IC

Quite a respectable range there, not much of a price differential for strength, though. Time was when Mild...........

Oh, just setting off. I'll bring last night's "slides" with me in case anyone is interested - the SG CW presentation that is. Some good points made from the floor, and were not to the speakers liking! Caveat Emptor as ever.

Be aware that Selftrade (Boursorama) intends to pimp its website over this weekend - hope it not like the railway engineering which sometimes drags on into Monday or ...........

Let me try to get you boys back to work.

This maybe one for 55, but DYOH.

Worth a look MPI.

I made a mistake and did not sell at a 5% drop. It has cost me more than I should have allowed.

I thought the fundamentals justified a higher price than the market was paying for it at the time, although anybody with any sense looking at the TA would have sold.

It has a PE of about 15, projected 9, and peg of. .25 projected .34. a yield of 2.4% up to 3%.

Projection of turnover and profits support the figures.

The antipathy is whether or not the economy is going to contract and MPI function will be less needed and profitable.

I think that SP is likely to be on the upturn, but probably better to watch for a bit longer.

There has been director buying today and no recent institutional selling.

(What has interested me over the last six months (including last two mths,) that there seems to be a balance of more buying to selling by directors over the whole market. I am judging this by reported directors trading in own companies.) I hope this is not false optimism.

Work is just a but pint away....

Hope everyone got home OK, managed to get a train that should have gone 3 minutes before for the second time on the trot.

Good presentation I thought, no bull and too the point...pity that the tuck/drink was a bit basic but worth the time I thought.

Chris, more good piece of news re EXPN this afternoon I see.

survived87 - 23 Nov 2007 03:20 - 694 of 1427

Glad you hear you got your train. I suppose it's one of the advantages of applying 'Just In Time' principles to train stock. With much reduced turnaround times for trains, then if it finishes its previous route/journey late then it will commence its next new journey/route late as well.

Yes, good presentation.... no spin .... but unfortunately I don't like the technique of using the 'Special Offer valid for tonight only'. I presume they bought the very basic package as regards room hire. Had dinner after I got home - but the 10 chocolate cakes kept me going thru the seminar. So unfortunately we couldn't give Fred a proper toast during the seminar.

Looks like the B'ham Pie & Pint attendence at a seminar always runs in to some 'trouble'. We've had the WS one where both the main speakers didn't turn up, then the CW one which was cancelled, then last nights with second half of it based around 'live trading' of DOW - on a day the DOW was closed (Thanksgiving Day - always fourth Thursday in November). Wonder what fate will befall the next B'ham seminar.....venue will burn down?

Yes, another good contract for EXPN announced.

and going back to what we were discussing last night then its one of the MAM lead stories today:

"Northern Rock has considerable holes in its asset base that may harm its ability to repay loans.

This includess the 23bn of taxpayers' money it has been lent by the Bank of England, according to The Guardian. "

I think the the NR business just gets worst on all accounts. Wonder if the "on the night CMC offer" could be attained anyway, as all these betting shops/brokers must be loosing volume hand over fist in the current climate and gagging for any new business.

stan ... you might get some follow-up contact from them offering something ..... I don't suppose I will as they didn't have my details despite sending me two auto-acknowledgements originally...

Stan - 23 Nov 2007 09:44 - 698 of 1427

Yes possible I suppose, see from their website they have a 10000 dummy trial on. Could be interesting.

Stan - 23 Nov 2007 11:28 - 699 of 1427

Would you believe it Chris, the boy Fabiola has just bought another 22,000 shares at EXPN.

Somethings got to be happening behind the scenes I know.

survived87 - 23 Nov 2007 12:32 - 700 of 1427

Yes, nearly 95k worth he bought ..... as you say must be for a reason and not on a whim....

CC - 23 Nov 2007 12:39 - 701 of 1427

come on then - what was the "special offer valid for tonight only"

Stan - 23 Nov 2007 13:45 - 702 of 1427

It's a secret not saying, Were were you last night then? -):

CC - 23 Nov 2007 13:51 - 703 of 1427

Keeping a low profile from CMC - you know they don't like winning traders ;-)

Stan - 23 Nov 2007 13:59 - 704 of 1427

They were offering a Education CD-ROM - valued at 99 + one years free subsciption to MarketStars - valued at 150 + 100 put into an account. All if you sign up on the night.

Fred1new - 23 Nov 2007 14:24 - 705 of 1427

I think I have seen one of the CDs and would not consider purchasing it. The other parts I leave to you.

Chris, can you remember the name of that Thai resturant that you pointed out to us last night in Bennetts Hill as we might go there Sat. Night please?
