The Apple Mac Thread - Online Problem Solving.

Stan - 18 Oct 2006 09:24

I know there is a joint Computer solving thread but the few Apple questions on there do sometimes get missed, so thought that I would set up a dedicated one for the Mac.

...Bye the way I am quite Computer illiterate apart from what I have picked up...so no point In asking me much -):

Ian,

I wonder If you could make this thread available on the Investors side as well please?

That's neat Stan! Image Capture should be in your Applications folder, so you should not have any problems there.

Oh good, It has to be logical and simple in operation for me, as I'm no camera buff -):

Not that we can't do the things that this clean-up piece of software provides, but it just keeps it in one place and will serve as a reminder (to me) to do some regular cleaning and not wait until the thing starts to get slower and slower.

Question is, are they a genuine outfit, and has anyone installed and run it please?

Flush DNS Cache, Crikey! doing that speeds things up when everything else has been cleaned.

I'm attempting to download the "Firefox Software Update" for Browser31, I then get a box saying "connecting to update server" and looks like its streaming but has been doing so for about an hour.

Question is? Is that usual that it takes so long or has it frozen.

I restarted the computer and am currently doing the same thing again.. with no difference.

KidA - 01 Aug 2014 14:09 - 77 of 138

Stan,

I'm on OSX 10.6.8 and did a Firefox update the other day - About Firefox shows 31.0, it took less than 5 minutes.

Cheers,
KidA

That's funny Kid I am also on OSX 10.6.8.. and it's still whirling 2 hours later.

Thanks for the info though, and back to the drawing board.

Stan - 02 Aug 2014 09:56 - 79 of 138

I've reset the browser but still no joy, sticking with the present one of 28 unless anyone has any ideas.

Anyone here down loaded and using the latest Apple OS Mojave on their desktop?

If so what do you make of it any hitches, theres only one thing that looks good to me.

Stan - 12 Oct 2018 08:33 - 81 of 138

TTT what about you Kim your an Apple man?

kimoldfield - 12 Oct 2018 10:44 - 82 of 138

Hi Stan, sorry for the late reply! I am using my old MacBook Pro today, I downloaded Mojave on my newer one yesterday and it no longer works! A trip to Apple Liverpool is now the only answer by the looks of it!

Stan - 12 Oct 2018 13:43 - 83 of 138

Thanks very much for that info Kim I will await for your account of your Apple visit before downloading it.

kimoldfield - 12 Oct 2018 13:57 - 84 of 138

Stan - 15 Oct 2018 11:59 - 86 of 138

Have you had a chance to get it sorted yet Kim?

kimoldfield - 15 Oct 2018 13:05 - 87 of 138

Not yet Stan, haven't had the chance but hope to be able to do so later in the week. I'll post when it is fixed (or binned!).
