THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

as already posted on the referendum thread :-) .....

sajid javid, who is a strong supporter of staying in, hit the nail on the head .......
uk will be stronger "in" in a reformed eu

as i have posted before, the problem is that currently the eu plutocrats have no particular interest in changing anything .... for them, everything is lovely and cosy with their bank accounts growing like japanese knotweed

if uk votes to leave, though i suspect that will not come to pass, then there'll be the most awful mess, but it may well provide the catalyst for a root and branch reform of the whole eu structure and democratic process within it

Corbyn was elected Labour leader with such a big majority that it gave him a powerful mandate to take on the Tory government and the increasingly morally corrupt and intellectually bankrupt British establishment.

Unfortunately, he has failed to live up to that challenge.

The most serious failure concerns his attitude towards the EU.

June’s referendum on British membership is by far the biggest issue facing the country for a generation.

But Corbyn’s position has been pathetic — particularly since he voted against Britain remaining in was then known as the Common Market in 1975. At the time, he was a political protégé of Tony Benn, one of the leaders of the No campaign.

Back then, he regarded the EU as a malign attempt to build an anti-democratic empire that damaged workers’ rights.

So why is Corbyn now pro-EU?

His U-turn is partly due to the fact that he no longer sees it as a capitalist club. Also, he has been forced to accept that the vast majority of Labour MPs support EU membership and he would therefore be badly isolated if he opposed them. He’s fearful, especially, of alienating the Blairite faction in his Shadow Cabinet.

always trust the mail as one would the express, or the socialist worker :-)

however, as i have written before, the labour MPs must be under a gagging order, as one hears not a peep of dissent, though the split in the general populace must sure be reflected in their ranks

Watching the Neo-cons self-destruct while they think and reconstruct the party and construct practical policies.

No urgency.

But the present "con" government, like headless chickens, seems to be racing to destroy the social structure and fabric of the UK.

It seems they are attempting to destroy the "institutions" which has served society for 50 years, rather than modify or improved them for to-day's needs.

Changing schools into Academies without parental consultation is the same as when Labour converted schools into Comprehensives without the same consultation. It will mean councils having no involvment in education. The schools will be run by charitable trusts. The assets such as the buildings and land will be held by the councils who will become landlords to the trusts. These changes may be happening due to ideological reasons, but so were Labour's.

Fred1new - 26 Mar 2016 13:32 - 69467 of 81564

Shirley Williams was in a hurry to get changes to comprehensive education.

The speed was "political" and the infrastructure was not prepared for the changes.

Neither were the teaching staff.

The results were chaotic and led to lack of school discipline and teaching standards.

The "cons" are falling into a similar pattern of behaviour.

Education like NHS and "Welf are Social services" need a period of stability not continuous "reorganisations" and "disruptions".

Also, not changes made from ideological political positions.

cynic - 26 Mar 2016 13:51 - 69468 of 81564

i don't see that the results need to be chaotic at all, nor a lowering of teaching standards nor an increase of school indiscipline - it seems to me that nowadays, this is sadly lacking to non-existent except where you have a predominance of parents who have aspirations for their children - eg asian and/or middle class families

whether or not there is any real or even perceived gain in the change, i am unsure

Cameroon is destroying the tory party, just as Corby is doing the same to the labour party, and Cleggy has already done for the liberals.

Tory civil war over Europe deepens amid claims Cameron is ignoring Eurosceptic ministers

Vote Leave, the Eurosceptic campaign group led by Michael Gove, claims that the NHS has 'plummeted into financial crisis' under Jeremy Hunt

The Conservative civil war over Europe has deepened amid clashes over the government's handling of the NHS and claims that David Cameron is ignoring Eurosceptic ministers.

Vote Leave, the Brexit campaign group led by Michael Gove, said the NHS had "plummeted into financial crisis" under Jeremy Hunt and accused the Health Secretary of "scaremongering" over the risk of leaving the EU.

It came as a senior Government source told the Daily Telegraph that David Cameron now refuses to acknowledge his ministers who backBrexit.

The source said that Mr Cameron refuses to make eye contact with Eurosceptic ministers and ignores them when they pass in corridors. Downing Street denied the accusation.

In a further sign of the growing divisions within the Tory party, a "Downing Street insider" was quoted comparing eurosceptics to Isil over their apparent refusal to negotiate.

Earlier this year the Prime Minister lifted "collective responsibility" rules for members of the Government, meaning that they are able to campaign on both sides of the EU argument.

Mr Cameron warned ministers on opposite sides to treat each other with "respect and courtesy", but the campaign has been marked by a series of unseemly spats which have divided the party.

A source said: "It has got pretty bad. David doesn't even make eye contact when he passes the eurosceptics in the corridor. It's like school when you annoy the popular crowd. But I suppose that's all he knows so it is to be expected.

A 'Downing St insider' was quoted comparing eurosceptics to isil over their apparent refusal to negotiate.

So has that been government policy...To try and negotiate with an entity that wishes to destroy the western free world and return it to the dark ages??...

Donald Trump..."A lot of the free world has become WEAK"

Best leave it to Dave RF.

'Call me Dave' is well known around the world as the snake oil salesman and a piece of vomit..

grannyboy - 28 Mar 2016 13:18 - 69481 of 81564

Pakistan authorities have conducted raids and they say they've found numerous caches of weapons and explosives...

If they knew about these arms storage's..Why wern't they raided earlier??...

But not to worry call me dave has sent a message to Pakistan saying he will help in anyway he can, once he's got the important things out the way, like his holiday in the cannary islands, and opened the border gates a bit wider to allow more islamist to saunter into the UK, he'l then spend billions of pounds of tax payers money to sate his conscience....
