THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

It is the fault of government who fail to legislate appropriately and then implement or apply the tax rules effectively. (Deliberately or by ignorance.)

We the people can make a difference with companies ,if you don't like the way they practise ,don't buy from them.

It is the fault of government who fail to legislate appropriately and then implement or apply the tax rules effectively. (Deliberately or by ignorance.)

It is also the responsibility of the individual to act within the "intent" of the "rules", rather than gleefully advantage themselves at the expense of others.

I suspect it's all tied up in trusts, you have the use of the money without actually owning it.

AFAIK, Cameroon has a country pile which he has the use of, without actually owning it.

It's a rich mans game.

There is a world of difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion. Tax avoidance, or reduction, is perfectly legitimate. Most pension schemes operate that way. Isas are a form of tax avoidance. For the government or any one else to throw up their hands in horror is sheer hypocrisy. If the government doesn't like certain schemes, it can change the tax rules. Simples. The fact is that a lot of the rules are in place to attract companies to invest in this country.
Tax planning is an important part of any company's decision to buy or invest. Why do you think companies prefer London to Paris, for example? Cant be because of the climate.
I use Amazon often. Nothing better than needing something and having it delivered the next day. Or a book and downloading it immediately. How many traders depend upon Amazon, as well as the Amazon staff and horde of white van drivers? It's up to the government, if it doesn't like the tax arrangements. Amazon is a great company that is based on growth, not profit, at this time. And last time I heard, you pay tax on profits and dividends, not turnover.

Change legitimate to legal?

grannyboy - 06 Apr 2016 11:10 - 69670 of 81564

No matter which side of the fence you sit on, either opinion can be argued against..

The fact its not evasion but avoidance and is perfectly within the law, it wasn't just invented its been going on for years...The time when people should be upset is when politicians and those with influence say one thing and do the exact opposite and benefit from it.

Some people see what these taxes are going on, and which they disagree with...Like paying into socialist organisations like the EU, which takes in vast amounts of countries taxes and spend it on vanity projects, and spending vast sums to rectify their mistakes...Paying benefits from what appears a bottomless pit(or money tree) to immigrants who hav'nt contributed to the system...

Of course companies should'nt be able to escape paying taxes from their operations in the countries they operate, but when you've got weak government who accept meagre amounts and claim it a victory should suffer the public humiliation..

jimmy b - 06 Apr 2016 11:20 - 69671 of 81564

Half a million immigrants that poured in to Germany are unaccounted for ,not claiming benefits and not in the system ,where are they ?

TANKER - 06 Apr 2016 12:18 - 69676 of 81564

the EU is going to be the new Syria war their are now more terrorists in the eu than in Syria Pakistan turkey .

we must close our borders and arm the police or army to patrol them
and we must round up all illegals and deport them and any known hate preachers

Haystack - 06 Apr 2016 12:23 - 69677 of 81564

I buy all my books from Amazon plus many other things. It is not the fault of Amazon what the tax rules are. They just want to minimize their tax. It is not even the fault of our government. It would do no good for us to change our laws if other countries didn't do the same.

TANKER - 06 Apr 2016 12:24 - 69678 of 81564
