List your Squelchers here so constructive dialogue can be improved.

Prophet - 06 Apr 2003 20:35

Name & Shame. Surely the squelch function is supposed to remove any trace of an individual who's views you no longer wish to hear?

Share your black list with a few other frustrated souls here and perhaps the overall quality of the boards can be improved.

hilary - 07 Apr 2003 20:59 - 7 of 52

rofl Fugitive. That's brought tears to my eyes.

:-))

Haystack - 07 Apr 2003 22:11 - 8 of 52

I have never felt the need the squelch anyone. There is such a thing as will power. It works far better. Squelching and posting abuse against people always seems a bit Mary Whitehouse to me.

ainsoph - 08 Apr 2003 00:21 - 9 of 52

excellent choices little woman ...... not sure I have ever seen a constructive or interesting post from any of them. May be we should be able to vote peeps off a thread

i don't have an axe to grind with anyone (life's too short and all that) but i do believe goodfella to be genuine in his fundamental analysis comments, i suppose it's just human nature to take the michael when the opportunity presents itself:-)...i support mnu and so get it all the time :-)

I find goodfella extremely childish and his forecasts on many shares have become a joke. I also note he is apt to mislead peeps by altering official news releases ..... but everyone to their own - I guess

Dont get involved, you only cause trouble for yourself

shagnasty - 08 Apr 2003 08:59 - 13 of 52

A credit card deposit would prevent unwanted people from coming here, and would dissuade the sad ones from posting, e.g. those banned from other bulletin boards for nefarious reasons, those with another alias etc.

I do as I please and goodfella doesnt frighten me - just saying it as I see it.

Beau62 - 08 Apr 2003 09:11 - 15 of 52

Nas....people using more than one alias should really be stopped from doing so. I'm no techie, but I assume most people post either using their home or work pc (or possibly both). You would think that technology these days would be able to identify the IP address of their respective kit and anyone trying to use the detected pc's with a name not registered to that address would not be able to post. Surely that would limit the number of people screwing the system the way they do. Obviously it would be harder to grab those who have a vista of kit to choose from in an office, particularly market related companies, but in the main the majority would be detected and prevented from ruining boards and misleading others in the way that they clearly do.

I welcome any such future security initiatives because I only post using one password on all sites and have absolutely nothing to hide. Others, I would suggest, would not be as forthcoming as me as hidden agendas and more sinister reasons for posting seems to be the norm these days.

If I wanted to, and I don't, I could quite easily log in under a new name and start spouting nonsense. Sites, such as these, seem to make it easy for people to do this, which is of course, why they do.

I welcome any comment from the MoneyAM team to confirm or refute my comments.

Rant over.

ainsoph - 08 Apr 2003 09:21 - 16 of 52

seems to me that the peeps using multiple aliases have mostly been the gang from advfn and they seem to be openly boasting of the situation ...... I was happy to give moneyam my details - maybe they should insist everyone else does .....

guru 1 1/4 - 08 Apr 2003 09:23 - 17 of 52

Beau62
The only person that has admitted to using multiple aliases is one of your co-conspirators on advfn-neo, don't see you attacking him though, for convenience he even listed his aliases.

shagnasty - 08 Apr 2003 09:24 - 18 of 52

Here here,ainsoph,
anyone posting here after being banned from advfn, or using a multiple alias is not welcome

IanT(MoneyAM) - 08 Apr 2003 09:26 - 19 of 52

Beau,

With regard to disabling certain IP addresses so that a banned user cannot re register and access the site.

We are currently developing this and hope to have it enabled in the near future.

That would be very refreshing and would stop people using multiple aliases from the same computer.
Unfortunately it might not stop posters who have access to more than one computer but will certainly limit many posters ability.
Thanks
Guru

shagnasty - 08 Apr 2003 09:33 - 21 of 52

yes , lets hope that banned fugitives from other bb`s are soon found out.

Beau62 - 08 Apr 2003 09:34 - 22 of 52

Guru, your attack on me is totally unfounded and I shall treat your remarks with the contempt they richly deserve. I conspire with no-one. I enjoy the banter and the soap opera like saga, yes, and merely feel that those taking a hiding bring most of it on themselves anyway, and by golly, I do laugh at many of the comments.

If I felt the need to attack anyone, I would do so in defence of a particular disagreement I may have at any given time.

My comments were based on people using more than one alias, regardless of whether they are pro or anti ainsoph or, for that matter, pro or anti neo. Clearly I can see where you are coming from.

To even further ridicule your comments, only last week I was classified a clone of ainsoph on advfn.

It would be a good idea to actually get your facts right before jumping to ludicrous conclusions and making yourself look a right lemon.

Thank you. I welcome that effort and wish you every success.

I think it's always interesting to see the company that people keep and I think it would be fair to say you tend to support the loonies most of the time who admit they use multiple aliases ...... and yet you come on here and say you want to stop multiple aliases.

As for people bringing things on themselves and you laughing at the situation - seems rather odd in light of your other comments ....

Anyway never mind .......

shagnasty - 08 Apr 2003 10:01 - 25 of 52

here here ainsoph, anyone who uses more than one alias, here or on any other bb is a charlatan , why I know of one person posting here with one alias and blatantly admitting he is another alias on iii, what a loser that guy is,

gravy - 08 Apr 2003 10:25 - 26 of 52

Webmaster (ian) :

You can see the unrest that just one person on here causes and
if you really think one person is responsible, well that's laughable.
Wether or not he will do it on here it has been proven that ainsoph
has uses masses of multiple handles to push shares on other sites.
He was still using 2 names on iii yesterday (rtshed and tt) so just
keep your eye out.

Also webby : Ainsoph got me banned from iii because I posted my view
that Tadpole would issue a profit's warning and this is when the share
price was 18p, the profit warning happened and the price is now 3.5,
I hope you are not going to adopt the same attitude when I make a correct call ??
