Up 5% in just a few minutes.

Can anybody answer the question in my previous msg?

washlander - 07 Nov 2003 09:17 - 11 of 14

Apple from what I understand this could be various brokers settling up. Buying and selling to each other. They then have to sell on in the market to make a profit. Hence the price malipulation that everybody complains about. I asked this question before on afterhours trading. Little woman if she reads this may clarify better as she appears quite clued up on these matters

apple - 07 Nov 2003 10:23 - 12 of 14

Thanks washlander

I had decided to buy some more but now it is going to cost more than before these out of hours trades.

Anybody else clarify why this is allowed?

little woman - 07 Nov 2003 10:39 - 13 of 14

My understanding is that it has always gone on, but because every trade has to be reported (including internal trades) we are aware of it, which in the old days we weren't.

Prices are set by the MM to try and encourage dealing. If they manipulate the price too much then no one will deal and they won't make any money. The MM have to walk a fine line between getting it right or not!

There is no reason why you can't sell or buy shares one of you holds to a someone else at what ever price you both agree by filing in your own paperwork, paying stamp duty etc. without going through a broker.

Thanks little woman.

There was good news again for TrafficMaster this morning. (sse below)

I just get the feeling that they new about it yesterday.

LSE opening - Trafficmaster lifted on SmartNav deal

LONDON (AFX) - Shares in Trafficmaster made modest progress in response to news that SmartNav, the system that combines state of the art satellite navigation with Trafficmaster's traffic information, is being made available by Subaru and Isuzu as an approved accessory in all their new vehicles in the UK.

This agreement to add Smartnav to the accessory range has been made with International Motors Ltd, Subaru and Isuzu's official UK importer.

Trafficmaster shares were 2 pence firmer at 42 by 8.09 am.
