i hate to add yet another thread ( which may never get a single post ), but is this how a financial site evolves? there seem to be plenty of posters but not many who are interested in the same stocks. therefore dozens of threads with no comment
any views?

My very first request (which i did post on the wants/request thread at the time) when i switched form advfn to mam was to have trade and order times added to level 2 as its impossible to see how long orders have been in place for and whether the trades being reported are delayed or not.

I'm new to this site and also failed to introduce myself after lurking for a few weeks.
I'm Richard and trade stocks and am hoping to start trading CFD's soon.
I find the posts from regular contributors excellent and the MoneyAm support is good too. I was refunded very promptly after I had mistakenly clicked on the wrong subscription level (I'm not sure how many other sites would have been as understanding)
I too am an alcoholic!!

I find both the traders room and the investors room very useful as I can view about two weeks worth of posts on one screen unlike on the ADVFN FBB where there are about FIFTEEN pages of posts PER DAY.
I don't think this site will survive. Even those most "loyal" to it spend most of their day posting on ADVFN then come back here to say how they appreciate the quality of a quiet site.
The thing is we have all seen the same posters saying the same thing on ADVFN when the split from Etrade took place.

Sniffer, don't take this in the wronge way..but I think this site will more than survive...like croc said there are many others who do not post, the conributions are of quality, rather than quantity...u have to remember there are more sites than ADVFN...

a fair point, but im only into half a dozen stocks at the moment. i was merely trying to stimulate a bit of interest here as no-one seems to be interested in the stocks i hold.
not even tad where i am 85% , a penny share favourite, invested ( much to the annoyance of my accountant ).
surely any thread that generates a few posts is worth a go?
took the freebie on the premium service but still not convinced. i agree that quality not quantity is what is needed. have cancelled my sub to advfn and will probably join traders room soon. at least this site seems more able to bar miscreants

As a new boy to this whole thing I am really grateful that I found moneyam site and the Investors room. Initially I only bought 1 Stock because a friend had some. That was 5 weeks ago. From here I have learnt a hell of a lot from you guys and reading the posts and am now hooked.(I now have a reason to get out of bed each morning).New people dont get shut out and there are always people willing to help.I think its great and am sure I would still be in bed with just one stock without it. Thanks to everyone........
Graeme.

As someone who joined this site after"lurking" around in the background...I
agree it is a breath of fresh air and I can see lots moving over from ADVFN which is at best an informative site by it's debate...but is decending into the depths by its un-monitored abuse and an unacceptable amount of sickening postings...many of which have nothing to do with stocks.
Add to that the well known rampers(who use different names and making visits to this one!)and who resort to personal abuse and I can see many comming over,as a refuge from the gutter standards which ADVFN seemingly tolerates or condones..
Ample iii is an example of how a site can/should be run as regards acceptable posting standards, inspite of remarks about "web nanny",and for this reason I can see the appeal of ADVFN.With the uncertainty surrounding ample it would be a welcoming place for those who seek to post sensibly and a potentially better place than the ADVFN uncensored sewer threads.
Great idea to have self regulated postings but there is a need for monitoring and removal, or it will sink to the gutter/childish ( and in a good few cases the sickening obsentities) that are posted on ADVFN.
With the same format as ADVFN and monitoring, this site can become what ADVFN WAS....
Regards
C

Carvaggio,
I agree with you, although ADVFN have sharpened their act up a bit, and they will delete a post of you request them to. (The problem there is hundreds of people have already read it before it can be deleted, which is a huge reason not to use your surname, IMHO)
iii, Financebb, and sardinesplaice all moderate very effectively, and don't hesitate to ban abusers, which is the way a BB should be run, IMHO.
The problem is that the busier the BB, the more posts there are to read, and moderate.
I think the solution in ADVFN's case is to appoint some moderators, and allow them to "hide" posts that are doubtful, until a member of staff can actually determine whether it should stand or not. Three bad posts,. and you're out!

I find this site informative, helpful and useful. And free of the tedious drivel that people with too much time on their hands can post on internet messageboards.

Give it time and serious posters will come over..
ADVFN for all it's threads is decending into the mire..
The Monitor data is 1st class...
