Mediasurface - one to watch?? (MSR)

Haven't seen anything about this great little company here yet, but its all the rage over on iii and advfn.

They've just sent out an RNS to announce another deal with the Home office (http://www.londonstockexchange.com/LSECWS/IFSPages/MarketNewsPopup.aspx?id=977869&source=RNS), which comes on top of several high profiles wins this ytear alone (http://www.mediasurface.com/news/pressreleases/?view=Standard) - Interconti hotels, AEGON, SSA Global.

Trades are moving fast now.

Thoughts?

an intranet solution for their Corporate and Investment Banking group across

7th April 2005, Newbury, UK: Mediasurface plc, the leading AIM listed content management provider, today announced the acquisition of Class-Act Bv, the Netherlands-based supplier of the Silverbullet content management system. The deal, for the intellectual property of the Silverbullet product and services of its authors, is worth 400,000 euros, made up of part cash and equity.
Silverbullet is a low-cost ASP solution with numerous customers and profitable revenue streams. The company reported revenues of 480,000 euros for the year ending December 04. Based on proven Microsoft technology including a SQL Server database and using .NET technology, Silverbullet allows small to medium-sized organisations to set up a website quickly, at a very low cost, taking advantage of predefined layouts and styles that can be tailored to reflect corporate branding and individual customers' preferences.

This deal allows Mediasurface to cover the full range of customers seeking content management solutions: from low-end to high-end, both through the Silverbullet product and Mediasurface Morello. It also offers Silverbullet customers continuity, enhanced support and infrastructure as well as a clear upgrade path said Stefan van der Horst, Class-Acts CEO.

Lawrence Flynn, CEO of Mediasurface said: This is a proven product in the SMB (Small and Medium Business) space and enables us to penetrate a new marketplace and expand geographically and be profit enhancing. He continued: There is no conflict of interest between our Morello product and Silverbullet. Cost is the issue that has in the past prevented SMBs from benefiting from reliable content management solutions from the big name vendors. Continued product development of Silverbullet is assured in line with the needs of the marketplace it addresses. Silverbullet, which is likely to be re-named in line with the Mediasurface brand, will be available as a rental solution only, whilst Mediasurface and Morello will only be offered as licensed products.

Time to revive this thread - MSR is about to break out it looks like after great annual results and a lot further to go in 2007 - some say profits to double this year. Recently recommended by Tom Bulford on RHPS.

I bought in this morning, but does not yet seem to be showing.

sd I wondered where you had been hiding - access method was to find a juicy bone and see who was chewing it. Bought in for my daughter's portfolio but timing not great - I expect some profit taking with (relative) dearth of news. But I understand the sector from my own earlier involvement and I like their customer base, the nature of their contracts, the sell on potential and the software maintenanance revenue. They seem to have a very nice niche with good US potential. I think that they will be seen to have been very much undervalued in a year's time, partly because the nature of the company and cumulative revenues is not properly understood.

Good to see Gartmore adding another 2% to their holding taking them above 10%. They are obviously really positive about the growth pattern. They do seem to have leadership in a significant niche. This could allow continuous long-term growth. a la Sage, or make them a tempting takeover target.

How ya keepin', Eric?

Used to be fun on these boards a while back, but don't see so many of the old faces around. Partly my fault for migrating to the other place which takes (wastes!) so much of my time.

Found some interesting stocks over the year, not all of which have been successful, but sloooowwwwlly, I think I am starting to get the hang of what suits my investing personality.
Still in ASC, COH, DGT(!), DEBT(!!) and SEO(!!!) but also in LUP, MYH, MSR, RCG, WNG. Looking for an exit point for my oils which I really do not understand. Very happy with my mines EUM and KMR both due to come on stream this year and looking positive.

If only I could bring myself to operate my stop losses as set, I'd be a lot wealthier by now!

Hi, my doggy friend - man's best friend, the dog! Don't think Tony Blair has a dog. Queen has lots of dogs.

Not like the old days, is it? The SEO thread still amongst the most active, despite its relative demise. I like this one; still in DGT and ASC plus AZM (of course), BNH and JR. Not so active as little free funds - outgoings tend to exceed income in retirement. Never believed in stop losses anyway; my observation is that the automatic ones kick in at the wrong time and the personally operated ones tend to get over-ridden by 'logic'.

Good piece in Shares today about MSR. Agree thoroughly. The FO example hits the nail on the head: mega licence fees which go straight to the bottom line; significant fees involvement then on-going maintenance and enhancement. At the moment they appear to have a corner of the market and I am not aware of effective competition. They also appear to be very active in product development which will make it very difficult for new entrants. I don't see why the upward trend should persist for some time.

I assume there is a 'not' missing from your last sentence?

Here's what I posted on the other side on 2nd May after results:-

I see from the CEO's statement that, excluding the 400k spend on Pepperio launch, underlying PBT would have been 750k against 350k last time - 114% increase YOY, not a bad improvement on turnover up 37% - for an operating margin (for H107) of 12% and an ROCE (for H206/H107) of about 60% (up from 8.3% and 43.4% for FY2006 respectively).

On the same basis EPS would be about 1.49p for a PE of 16 and a PEG of .33.

All fantasy, because they did spend the 400k on promoting Pepperio and we cannot predict how fast this one off cost will be amortised over future revenues. But gives an idea of how Morello is doing. Hopefully, we'll see the fruits starting to bear on Pepperio in the finals and beyond.

Never did take your advice on AZM. Hope you've made some dosh there.

What do you reckon to DGT post consolidation? It has to go somewhere sometime doesn't it?

ASC, like COH, is a hold and forget for 25% pa over the next 3-5 years for me.

Thanks for the analysis on MSR. One needs to accept that there will be regular hits on product development and launch as they seek to stay ahead of the game. But the 400K on Peppario will have a really good return. The other critical thing in this sector is reference selling. Not only will there Government sales lead to other sales but the same will happen in the US. So rather than a mere straight line growth, this could border on the exponential. That's caitious Uncle Eric speaking as well!

Incidentally, this is an excellent time to go into AZM. See my post today. Looking for three-fold by year end. ASC is a banker in the locker and I agree your 25% p.a. DGT will make a breakthrough sometime but may be next year. They do appear to be a force in the market-place which is not reflected in their sp or capitalisation. If it is not generic growth they would be a takeover target, although an acquisitor would need to satisfy the key employees. I am happy to back the management: I am very impressed indeed with Rawlonson. Perhaps, again, it is one to tuck away. I eventually went into BNH a lot slower than I should have done - they meet the same sort of criteria as ASC and MSR.

The answer might well be that Tony Blair is a dog! Slobber all over you but likely to end with a bite. Gordon Brown is one of those hang dog types - worried what he does behind my back - I blame him for my pension calamities as many others do.

The acquisition of Immediacy has been well received by the market. This appears justified by: (a) complimentary product between Morrello and Pepperio; (b) good client base with 900K of annual support revenue; (c) potential exploitation of Immediacy in new markets covered by MSR; (d) client base for upgrade to Morrello. Potential for accelerated growth.
