How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Good win for Utd

England won the toss and decided to field - well thats thrown me! seems the decision was made on the basis of Bell being the supersub hence fielding allows us to use an extra batsman

WOODIE - 15 Dec 2005 06:25 - 7014 of 10502

morning fundy got to go out at 7 this morning so will have a look when i come back

Fundamentalist - 15 Dec 2005 06:30 - 7015 of 10502

Morning woodie

catch you later - very quiet start so far (mainly due to Afridi batting down the order!)

WOODIE - 15 Dec 2005 06:32 - 7016 of 10502

only seen about 15 mins looks like i got the best of the action!

Morning Guys

Strange decision for Eng to take the field even with Bell as the extra batsmen?

Would have thought they'd want to take the initiative, bat first and try to put in a decent innings for Pakn to chase down.

Well, Pakn making a solid start instead

Fundamentalist - 15 Dec 2005 06:40 - 7018 of 10502

Bak

I think 2 factors behind the decision:

1) the choice of Bell as supersub (have to bat 2nd to make use)
2) last time England were here we batted second and chased 305 under lights, mainly due to the fact that there was a lot of dew around in the second innings and the ball was hard to control (and impossible for the spinners to grip)

Personally would have had a bowler (prob Andersen) as supersub and batted first if i won the toss

Steve

Thanks for explanation. Just hope the plan works out.

Fundamentalist - 15 Dec 2005 06:50 - 7020 of 10502

Not looking good so far and think England have called it wrong, especially with their appalling record batting second (maybe Fletcher thinks we need some more practise at chasing a total!).

Pakistan spread already at 295/305 (looking to sell at 300) and Pakn price off 18 ticks since the start

bakko - 15 Dec 2005 06:55 - 7021 of 10502

Agree with you Steve.

Pakn seem to be scoring with ease at the moment.

If it carries on like this I won't get a chance to trade this game..LOL

Fundamentalist - 15 Dec 2005 07:04 - 7022 of 10502

Be plenty of trading ops in the England innings Bak

Fundamentalist - 15 Dec 2005 07:10 - 7023 of 10502

Just sold the spread at 303 and we get a wicket :-)

Fundamentalist - 15 Dec 2005 07:13 - 7024 of 10502

And another one :-)

bakko - 15 Dec 2005 07:47 - 7025 of 10502

Sorry I disappeared there. Decided to climb back into bed for last 30mins.

Seemed to have helped Eng just a touch.

Anyway, nice trading.

bakko - 15 Dec 2005 07:50 - 7026 of 10502

Now that I'm up there's a flurry of runs from the last over!

Fundamentalist - 15 Dec 2005 07:55 - 7027 of 10502

Just sold Pak runs again at 308 (made 23 points on first one)

bakko - 15 Dec 2005 08:01 - 7028 of 10502

Eng could do with a wicket at this point. Pakn in control once more
