Please report bugs and enhancements (BUGS)

andy.lovell - 04 Nov 2002 11:26

If you're having any problems, or want to suggest some improvements, please post below!

Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

Virus warning

All,
checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus so
I believe this is real.

I checked snopes.com , and it is for real.

Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with
an attachment entitled 'Invitation,' or 'Merry Christmas' regardless of who
sent it to you. It is a virus which opens an Olympic Torch which 'burns'
the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from
someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the
reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better
to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called 'Invitation,' even though sent to you by a
friend, do not open it. Shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by
Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by
McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This
virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital
information is kept.

SEND THIS E- M AIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!

COPY THIS E-MAIL, AND SEND IT TO YOUR FRIENDS. REMEMBER: IF YOU SEND IT TO
THEM, YOU WILL BENEFIT ALL OF US.

john50, surely this is just the same old hoax that's been doing the rounds for a couple of years now.

john50 - 12 Dec 2007 20:51 - 7094 of 7315

Kayak - 13 Dec 2007 00:31 - 7095 of 7315

john50, any message that ends by exhorting you to copy it to all your friends is a hoax. You are being asked to spread the hoax.

MightyMicro - 13 Dec 2007 02:29 - 7096 of 7315

It's also amazing that these hoaxes, like phishing attempts, all seem to emanate from people that can't speak or spell English very well. (No offence intended to any Italians with a perfect command of English that might read this, Kayak.)

After a couple of blissful days of having live toplists again, they appear to have slipped back to delayed during yesterday.
Is this being looked into?

It's because the boards have been afflicted with the PHP/MySQL parsing quotes curse again during the last few days, the upshot of which is that it's inserting backslash '\' characters beforehand... sometimes. It often happens when previewing before posting and on editing and re-posting. I wrote a bulletin board system in PHP a few years back which was very similar to the MoneyAM/ADVFN style and filtering out bad user input and naughty code injection attempts can cause a few headaches of its own.

The upshot is that the extra quotes screw up web link code which ends up becoming a sub-reference of the hosting site's address - in other words Greystone's links and all the others which get screwed up are still in your browser's address bar - but you have to delete everything up to the second "http://" part of the address or the "www." (normally) start of the addrss if you have friendly URLs set in your browser preferences.
