THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Gorgeous, pouting Luciana has an eye for the main chance, still, better than no chance I suppose.

Labour's Luciana Berger considers run at being mayor of Liverpool

The shadow mental health minister is giving serious thought to entering race for Merseyside’s top job following Sadiq Khan’s win in London

Monday 16 May 2016 23.25 BST

Luciana Berger, the shadow minister for mental health, has announced that she may seek her party’s nomination to stand as the powerful new mayor of Liverpool, becoming the latest prominent Labour MP to consider quitting Westminster to run one of Britain’s major cities.

The Liverpool Wavertree MP told the Liverpool Echo that she was seriously considering a run at the job of metro mayor, which will carry a package of new powers over housing, education and planning, once a devolution deal struck as part of George Osborne’s “northern powerhouse” project comes into force.

She said: “I’ve been flattered by people across the Liverpool city region approaching me in recent days, encouraging me to put my name forward as a candidate for the new position of metro mayor.

“This role – covering a new area including Halton, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral, as well as the city of Liverpool – is vitally important for the future success of the region.

“I will be consulting with family, friends and members of my constituency Labour party in the coming days, before reaching a decision on whether to put my hat in the ring.”

She is a Blairite and like many similar MPs have given up on Labour getting elected. There are career Ms in Labour who know they have no chance of a Minister's post for ten years or more (probably more).

She should have joined the tories, her dad qualifies....very rich and a nasty bastard to boot.

The waiters only remember those that give a good tip, not those that pay the bill - as my departed friend Samy often told me.. :)

iturama - 18 May 2016 09:50 - 71187 of 81564

Samy often said that he didn't believe in God, so I asked him, if so, why did he donate to a synagogue in Rio de Janeiro. I don't he said, but there is no harm in having a little insurance...

University students have been banned from throwing their mortarboards in the air due to health and safety concerns.
Some graduates at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich have been hurt by falling hats in recent years, student newspaper The Tab reported.
Students have been urged to mime the throwing action instead, and have hats added digitally to the photo after.
Clearly a university dedicated to producing the mollycoddled.

I'm worried about the Olympics now , the javelin will probably be feather throwing , the hammer will be ping pong launching and the putting the shot will be shuttlecock easing .

Fred1new - 18 May 2016 11:00 - 71190 of 81564

If you were the "boss" of a University and had a report on you desk saying that someone had sued the University for allowing mortar boards to be chucked into the air at a "celebration", and one of which had land corner first into the eye of a participant causing him/her to lose their sight, what would you consider for the next knees up.

Daft, it seems, but might make a dent in the back pocket.

I wouldn't want to be a teacher running a "6th form" rugby team these days.
