Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

You left something out Stan.

However the government has gone further than the directive, by also banning charges on American Express and Paypal too.
I believe other forms of electronic payments such as Applepay will be affected also.

Having said that there is no doubt that the EU has driven down rip off charges, most noticeably for mobile phones. If only it could do the same for the agricultural swindlers.

All that this is going to do, is lift up prices charged to everyone by 2-3% to pay for it.

EU's Brexit chiefs want to 'punish' Britain to stop other countries leaving, senior German MEP claims

A senior German MEP has warned that two of the EU’s top Brexit chiefs want to “punish” Britain to stop other countries trying to leave the bloc.

Hans-Olaf Henkel, the vice chairman of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, urged the UK “not to listen” to Michel Barnier, the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator, and Guy Verhofstadt, the European Parliament’s Brexit coordinator.

It comes as EU and UK officials engage in a third day of talks in Brussels as the two sides seek to hammer out the terms of Britain’s divorce deal.

There is one amusing aspect of the nurses being sued for parking charges.

Corbyn and the left have been tweeting about how disgusting it it is of Hunt to attack the nurses.
They have all had to delete the tweets after it was pointed out that the hospital is in Cardiff and Labour run the NHS in Wales.

I think the same they do not want any other EU countries to see a decent settlement in case it gives them ideas .It will all have to be their way .I hope Dave Davies is not going to buckle to their crap.

Hays I pointed that out to Stan and Fred but I don't believe the Welsh government have anything to do with parking charges I think it's down to Cardiff and the Vale Health Trust.
