ok - my shares are held in a nominee account with BSL

The bit I dont understand is :

If I want to sell 100,000 seo shares - and I use sets to place my shares and manage to get a buyer on sets - how do we physically exchange shares and cash ?

How is BSL involved?

firstly they will have to be sold through a SET`s broker,so you won`t necessarily be able to trade SETSMM anyway, but its not YOU who is doing the trading anyway, its not punter led, your broker will deal as the intermediary as usual, your a/c will be credited - as usual, basically for trading purposes for the small guy it doesn`t change a thing-EXCEPT -you can see the MARKET- BUT ONLY PART OF IT.
Most annoying, I thgt. this might be a breakthrough in clarity, not a chance.

In a nut shell its still mm led.

ps don`t be afraid to ring your broker for advice on the new system- they are obliged to tell you of the changes

lol,
a mate of mine is a ski-instructor , loves shagging, and calls his
job decription " ensuring that my ladies have frost-bitten asses and sunburned knees, and that I have the opposite"

ptholden - 11 Jul 2005 18:04 - 7144 of 27111

seq

Followed what you said earlier, but I assume if you have a direct access account you can trade directly through the book, negating the need for a broker?

pth

Sequestor - 11 Jul 2005 18:05 - 7145 of 27111

pth-not sure about that, but sounds right.

ptholden - 11 Jul 2005 18:33 - 7146 of 27111

Seq

Pretty sure that's how the Day Traders operate (CMC spring to mind). Also able to take advantage of auctions and other such like black arts.

paulmasterson1 - 11 Jul 2005 19:00 - 7147 of 27111

PTH HI,

Indeed, anyone can buy Bloomberg Trading platform, or Proquote, and trade electronically, ie SETS "Proquote Trader optionally includes SETS order input capability."

Cheers,
PM

Sequestor - 11 Jul 2005 20:27 - 7148 of 27111

Ignore PMT he is a total cretin, he doesn`t even understand what SETS is about,
there is NO direct acess despite the terminology,it is a misnomer- you still have to pay a % to E-TRADE , CMC, or whomever intermediary you use- read this
---------
Ruth - 04 Jul 2005 13:13 - 11 of 63
Issacs i agree, but im currently doing about 20 round trades a day, mainly scalps, which doesnt suit direct access really, my direct access costs would be almost 4 grand a week, which would leave me negative on the week after costs, :-)
i know it sound madness doesnt it 4 grand a week, and thats only on 20k deal sizes, the mind boggles dosent it,
----------

oh yes PMT anyone can deal direct, you fcuking moron, just start up a co. lets see, how about calling it Barclays Stockbrokers?,get an LSE license they are available

jaysus lets hope he is banned soon.

The German bank was probably Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. Could be wrong but I believe they are the counterparty for ETrade's direct access.
I have heard of one DMA providing offering a fix fee per month with no charges beyond that regardless of how many trades and their size. However, the fixed fee was of the order of 10k per month.

DUHHH!!!!!PMT?????????

dclinton - 11 Jul 2005 22:43 - 7150 of 27111

Seq, why are you being so hard on PMT? Nowhere did he say it was free to trade direct access. You can, in fact, trade direct access through a number of brokers and of course they charge a commission - there's no free lunch in this game. That doesn't mean it isn't direct access to the order book just as much as my US daytrade account provides direct access to the level-2 book for US stocks.

Chiva20 - 12 Jul 2005 07:48 - 7151 of 27111

Morning All, another day another SEO dolla

paulmasterson1 - 12 Jul 2005 07:59 - 7152 of 27111

Dclinton Hi,

Thanks :)

Seq has been sqelched by me since I first saw his/her posts, and has obviously got a problem with that, and takes every opportunity to attack me or my stocks, even though he/she knows I can't seee what they are posting.

Personally I don't give a fcuk what the idiot says.

Cheers,
PM
