THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Beware of curry-smelling seagulls.

A seagull turned bright orange after it fell into a vat of chicken tikka masala.
The bird fell into the container while trying to scavenge meat from a food factory bin on Monday. It was rescued by workers at the site in Wales, and picked up by a volunteer for Vale wildlife hospital, near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.
Staff at the hospital used washing-up liquid to remove the bright orange from the seagull’s feathers. They returned him to its original white colour but have not been able to wash away the smell of curry.

MaxK - 09 Jun 2016 18:08 - 71507 of 81564

It had lousy taste anyway.

Haystack - 09 Jun 2016 18:09 - 71508 of 81564

The bird has been named 'Gullfrazie'.

hay I see you support terrorists like the scum in Palestine they are lower than sub humans . they are shit and only want to murder people and 4 year old children
a nation of cowards

Haystack - 10 Jun 2016 17:28 - 71513 of 81564

They are a nation that have their land stolen and occupied and is continuing to be stolen on a daily basis. For Palestinians read French Resistance. For Israel read Nazi Germany.

cynic - 10 Jun 2016 20:31 - 71514 of 81564

not a fair comparison though i too think the israeli gov't is behaving reprehensibly

Haystack - 10 Jun 2016 21:50 - 71515 of 81564

It is not entirely fair, but the closest comparison. In one sense, it is worse as they are not just an army in occupation but are settling the other country with their own people and annexing parts of Palestine that they regard as now Israel.

VICTIM - 12 Jun 2016 07:14 - 71516 of 81564

Radical plans floated by Jeremy Corbyn to extend the right to buy to tenants of private landlords have won the backing of a major centre-right thinktank as a way to address the affordability crisis facing young, aspiring homeowners.

The report’s author, Peter Saunders, a research fellow at Civitas, says “generational inequality” has deepened over the last two decades as house prices have raced ahead of earnings. “The result is that the younger generation is now expected to pay a much bigger multiple of its earnings to buy a home than its parents did,” he says.

Saunders says that aspirant purchasers should be subject to the same right-to-buy eligibility rules as those who can currently buy their council or housing association homes, and that they should enjoy the same rates of discount.

grannyboy - 12 Jun 2016 16:38 - 71524 of 81564

Who in their right mind would want to buy one of these private stock
houses, from landlords that don't put a penny into any refurbishment
and just rent out these hovels to any desparate sole.

The reasons for the high property prices are mass immigration and not enough
house building, with the main reason being continuous mass immigration.

There's also the behaviour of the building firms themselves where they buy building
plots but don't build any houses, thus keeping homes in short supply resulting
in higher prices..

Haystack - 12 Jun 2016 16:40 - 71525 of 81564

Most landlords maintain their properties to a high standard as to do otherwise would be bad business. You just read about the bad landlords. You should try reading more sensible newspapers other than the Mirror and other left wing rags.
