Yes Optimist, it was the first thing I tried, but IE7 starts to open then just closes down.... just as IE8 did...
Am going to go for a reinstall of IE8 - will report back - thanks...

I am running Firefox v3.0.1 and using Yahoo mail and have never had a problem. Your problem looks to be more extensive than just IE7.

I've just upgraded to IE8 Beta2 with no problems.

Initially, it seems to be a bit more polished than beta 1 and some minor problems with some sites no longer occurr. I've yet to try out the new toys that they've added.

I have just installed IE 8 and it looks pretty good. No problems yet.

I have just upgraded my XP with the dreaded SP3 release....

However it has totally messed up my Parhellia video screen settings on my 3 monitors Only recognises 2 of them other is blank... one is fine the second one less than clear... sems set at a lower resolution

Restoring it back in time to a pre install date not working for some reason bespite trying several restore points...

Should I try and re install Parhellia software again...?

Well, reloaded the latest ie8 (beta 2) whilst making sure everything else was closed (including Skype which was open previously) and things are now back to normal... well, as was before IE8.... firefox 2 or 3 still won't open yahoo mail and only opens gmail if I clear all cookies... also FF3 appears to have a known problem with Acer 7004 laptops... firefox 2 seems OK though and I only need it for property bee...

Not sure what the advantages are of IE8, seems minimal to me...

I got the message that the latest Firefox won't work with the AVG anti-virus toolbar. Not really a huge problem for me as I get all my emails through Yahoo who scan the attachements with Norton for free, but wondered if anyone else had come across this problem?

I don't think you need to re-install your Parhelia software again. However, you do need to change back from single to multiple monitor settings.

On the Desktop, just 'Right click' anywhere - up pops a white window.

You might even see a Parhelia control panel link but for the moment, I'd recommend you just ignore it. Later, when you are more familiar with changing graphics settings, then you can experiment with it and play around with different settings. The following stuff is easy, straightforward and also a tad 'generic'. :-)

Click on 'Properties' at the bottom of the white window. Up pops the 'Display Properties' window.

Click on 'Settings'.

I would guess you have four leads but only three monitors. Here you wil see them all numbered up.

This is where you can activate/re-activate them and choose one of them to be the primary monitor. The primary monitor would ordinarily be the one with all the Windows Desktop icons.

Set these up first. Next you can change the Screen resolutions. Perhaps '1024 x 768' might be best?

If you select the [Advanced] button and then the 'Monitor' tab for each of the three monitors you will see here to change the Screen refresh rate. Perhaps '85 Hertz' might be best?

When you want to come out of these windows, just click on 'OK'.

I have noticed something odd about IE 8. If I run the task manager and look at the processes, I see that there are two instances of iexplore.exe - one taking up about 16meg and one about 32meg. If I kill them both off I still get two when I start up the browser again. That didn't happen with IE 7. As you open more tabs or more windows of IE then both the instances increase in size.

Another odd thing is that on the header tabs on MoneyAm the right hand set of Traders's room, Investors' room and Forward Diary are missing, but the help tab above them is there. The relative positions of the tabs compared to the top one containing help is very different.

If you click on the compatibility button then those items re-appear.

In theory, IE8 renders the page exactly as the html standard requires so it could be MAM's fault. Then again, Beta 2 is doing a better job of displaying the BB list page than Beta 1 so Microsoft may not yet have sorted everything.

Strange or wot?

Here are my latest Microsoft Security Updates. The list was made from and was taken from 'Review your Update History.

NB. You can access this list via the Control Panel icon, named 'Automatic Updates'. This takes you to:

Then click on 'Review Your update history'.

The list is quite extensive and these are just the latest. They are all successful and have a 'green tick' against them. However, do you see the date for them? It's actually '01 September 2008'.

Has anyone else checked theirs?

If so, are your dates given as '01 September 2008' too?

Exec - All your Sept 1 ones were delivered to my machine automatically on Aug 19.
But in my wife's BT Yahoo Spam mail folder, which she checked today, are four items dated well into September. Very curious. Julian v Gregorian?

Guess which lovely person it is in our house who has used a 'Right click' on the clock at the bottom of the Desktop and has been into September and October to check on holiday dates, flights and the like and then clicked on 'OK' instead of 'Cancel' to come out of it?

She is lovely really, but she is also a bit wierd. She tells me, that for a start, she has slightly more than the average number of feet and that it is the same for her number of eyes.

This has taken loads of time to put right, has really messed up my machine and is definitely worth some special favours from said person, I think. Agree? ;-)

Well, not exactly millions, but, well, about two.

There is a problem with the deffault time severs that Windows uses - They do not work with Windows.

Goto the Internet Time tab on the clock settings and enter an alternative server. Google "time servers" for more info.
