Please report bugs and enhancements (BUGS)

andy.lovell - 04 Nov 2002 11:26

If you're having any problems, or want to suggest some improvements, please post below!

Level2 changes
In the last few weeks we've needed to implement some code changes to make us compliant with the LSE's rules on the access of Level2 data.

The following requirement is now in place:
You can only use 1 program on 1 computer to access Level2 on MoneyAM using a single username.

This means that you are able to view as many Level2 windows using any one particular browser, or program, that you wish, however you will not be able to use both Firefox and Internet Explorer at the same time (the same goes for using Quote Tracker or TradeSeeker at the same time as viewing it using a web browser)

If you find you're being logged off of MoneyAM's Level2 with the message 'you've logged on from another location' then check the above and make sure you're not running any other programs at the same time before reporting this as a bug.

Andy

I hope you can solve the login bugs quickly because I get problems everyday in trying to log in. Irritation has its limits therefore I hope the solution isn't too far off.

Best of luck with it.

TullettJ (MoneyAM)
Login has been OK for me today so hopefully it is fixed

Martini: Glad to hear logins are much better for you.

Shezzalad: There was a new release today, so things should have got better.
If you're still getting this behaviour on Friday could you let us know - along with any details (browser/OS/3rd party software such as Semantec Personal Firewall) and what you did when you see the login. Thanks.

MoneyAM, my post No. 710 above seems to have been overlooked. Thanks.

TullettJ (MoneyAM) - 20 Feb 2003 22:47 - 721 of 7315

lemain,

Sorry for not getting back to you about this, I missed it :)

We are aware that the site is optimised for 1024x768, but we are currently looking at reworking the HTML so it fits into 800x600.

Fingers crossed.

J.

Johnathan,

Any views on Finns Level 1 and GNI Level 2 conflict in earlier post on CPI?

Not long (how could I with Congestion Charge)

Cheers

Ash

TullettJ, Thanks.

I am still finding lots of examples where the News flag on a stock is incorrect. MKS have one set but the news item does not refer to them, it is for Barclays. The contents of the news item doesn't mention MKS either.

Earlyriser - 22 Feb 2003 07:21 - 725 of 7315

It would be helpful to have an epic code against the 'Read', in the News articles on the Home page. Pressing this to get straight through to the Quotes page. This would save time trying to find code to do further investigation on the company.

There are problems with price quotes, charts, etc. for prices that are not quoted in pence. Although the vast majority of shares are quoted in pence, there are a few strange ones that aren't. See for instance JEL, which is 35.00 but that should be 35 and not 35p. Also BVF/BVFW, the prices of which are actually in dollars.

Most price services admittedly ignore this point, ADVFN does as far as I can see. The old ESI/E*trade used to display an additional field, GBX for most shares but GBP for pounds, USD for dollars. III/Ample hides the information in the screen with the share price chart, e.g. http://www.iii.co.uk/investment/detail?code=cotn:BVF.L&it=le . It should really be put next to the price on the quote page. I've been told that Digital Look gets it right.

As a second point, have a look at your charts for JEL and BVF, they are very much up the creek. I have seen this before, it happens when the quote being charted alternates between the scaled value and the unscaled value. E.g. for JEL it alternates between 35 and 3500, and for BVF between 55p and $55. I suppose this point is more serious.

Haystack - 22 Feb 2003 14:18 - 727 of 7315

Have AM got procedues in place for price/capital reorganisations. If there is a 1 for 10 share substitution then the charts have to be rebased for the share unit price otherwise the chart makes no sense. I used to use www.investtech.com before I realised that their price feed is duff and I used to have to Email them with price reorgs. quite a bit. I am not sure of the mechanism that normally communicates this info. to sites like this and ADVFN. I know that ADVFN do handle this, although they had problems with it at the beginning.

Felix(MoneyAM) - 24 Feb 2003 10:44 - 728 of 7315

Thanks for spotting the issues with JEL/BVF etc. I'm currently looking at
a way of detecting and correcting this type of problem.
Haystack, to answer your question about how historical data gets
rebased for stock splits, the short answer is that currently this is
largely a manual process - a situation likely to improve in the future,
Felix
PS Have just applied a fix to JEL, so the graphs for it now look more sensible - or, at least, the same as SSRT's.

danfulton - 24 Feb 2003 11:07 - 729 of 7315

Would it be possible to enable resizing of the stockwatch applet - as in ADVFN.

Helps to organize screen and get rid of scroll bars - all screen real estate is important !

teletiger - 24 Feb 2003 11:11 - 730 of 7315

Can,t get stockwatch up this A.M. Cont/F5 no help. Message is "stockwatch applet not found".

IanT(MoneyAM) - 24 Feb 2003 11:17 - 731 of 7315

teletiger,

We have no reported problems at this end - can you logout of the site and close all of your browsers then log back in.

Let me know if this clears the problem.

Ok now. I tried it first without the browser. Didn't realise it was a must for streaming.

Felix(MoneyAM) - 24 Feb 2003 16:01 - 734 of 7315

I did a search for all stocks for which
MAX(price) / MIN(price) > 300
in an attempt to find stocks which have the above price scale
problems.
There are actually quite a few of these, but mostly because of the
recent state of the market (i.e stocks plummetting). The list
might actually be of interest to traders, so I've uploaded it
here.
Did also find some anomalies with historical data this way, which I'll
investigate.

Not sure about your fix for JEL (1 year chart)...

Felix(MoneyAM) - 24 Feb 2003 16:24 - 736 of 7315

The graphs are now correctly scaled, but suggest a rather curious
history for the company. My JEL graph looks the same as SSRT's,
nothingventured's, and iii.co.uk's...
