Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

As for the Tory leader, we need someone to bring the country together, with name recognition. Not many tories will vote against their leader but the undecided certainly will, especially if it is perceived that the Brexiteers are being punished, like Junky from Nowhereland would like to do.

Clearly you have no respect on this board C. I have found that the best whites (wines to be clear) come from the Dão and Douro regions. Try the grilled giant gambas, if you like shrimp, 3 are sufficient unless you are really hungry or just greedy.. :0

ps Dão is pronounced down with a scouse nasal touch.

There is a wine called Aveleda. It is slightly fizzy, what the French call petiante (or something like that). It had a bad name like Mateus Rose but Aveleda is different in Portugal. They used to add sugar for the UK market. In Portugal it is a far nicer wine served cold on a hot day. It is what I tend to call a swilling wine as it is fairly low alcohol.

We like to sit outside at our garden table of a summer's evening with the Aldi Teppanyaki Grill on the table. It cost about £15 from memory and is an electric hot plate kinda thingy, that's easily switch on and offable. It's just the jobby for cooking a medley of say, prawns, baby squid, salmon steak, halibut fillet, asparagus, sliced courgette, sliced par-boiled potato, etc, etc.

This little machine is also brilliant for steaks and other meats. It's nice to be able to cook on the table top, chat and have a drink of wine, whilst you are keeping an eye on the food, that's cooking before your very eyes. When the meal has finished, it's 'wipe clean' and 'pop it back in the box' for next time. I call it 'Doddle Cooking'.

I don't go blasting lots of money on wines and spend about £7-10 per bottle or so. I do look for wines which have won awards. Generally, we would wash down a fish dish such as the above with a lovely dry white wine (probably also from Aldi - I'm thinking maybe 'Gavi' (NW Italy). Here's another one I'll be trying with fish: (Note the prize winning sticker labels) 'Sauvignon Blanc' (NZ) from the 'Exquisite Collection'

For steaks and stuff they also have some excellent reds in the same collection. 'Doddle Shopping' if the wine's all at the same place, too, eh?
