Mediwatch-A World Leader in the Urology Diagnostic Sector (MDW)

banjomick - 10 May 2007 23:36

*****This thread is setup mainly to gain information
relating to Mediwatch in a quick and easy way and IS IN NO WAY A
RECOMMENDATION TO BUY!********

Mediwatch-A Synopsis:
Mediwatch was established in 1996 and has developed a range of specialist
medical equipment for the diagnosis of urological disorders. The group joined the
AIM in 2000 through a reverse into Prostcare plc, which at the time was valued at
8m.While the vast majority of sales were generated in the UK,there was a
substantial indirect export business involving a number of agents, supplying into
Europe,North America,Australasia and Asia,notably Japan.
Group revenues are set to increase rapidly following the acquisition of the former
Medtronic Urodynamis Division, which has introduced a fundamental presence in
North America. The deal was in 2006 with the sales division building from 2007.
With the inclusion of the Medtronic systems now owned by Mediwatch they now
can offer a 'One Stop Shop' for the diagnosis of various urology disorders with the
benefit of Mediwatch systems having the ability to electronically send data from the
various tests to a central data base!Oh and plus the added bonus of PSAwatch and
now PCA3plus!

More than 30 million PSA tests are performed annually in the USA alone!

Just for the record and to even things up,this is Treblewide's view (near end
of 2008):

"in short 3p by chrimbo and a real chance if they do not get rid of management they
will go into receivership.....when they bough the MDT business I said at the time it
must have been a bag of shite as they only paid buttons for it.......looks like that was
fairly correct......i feel sorry for shareholders"

Treblewide has been filtered from my eyes for his abuse, lies and general behavior but
it's a free country (I think) so do as you see fit.

It started with:

Treblewide - 05 Jun 2007 15:49 - 33 of 1747
still short

Treblewide - 18 Jun 2007 00:24 - 69 of 1747
interesting stuff from that article...very few men die from prosate cancer and it is not an agressive disease....treatment can be worse than the disease.......kind of suggests their whole business model is based on sand to me.......but hey who wants a balanced view.

Treblewide - 18 Jun 2007 00:31 - 76 of 1754
exercise and sex may cause a raised PSA...so you guys may have stumbled on a test for fit shaggers :-)

I am gonna name Me-Di-Watch

Gonna-go-bust-soon-iwatch

Treblewide - 18 Jun 2007 10:59 - 85 of 1754
minder...i do not make light of prosate cancer....show me one post where I do...i make fun out of this company yes but not the disease so wind yer neck in pal.

show me any trace of a profit and i will maybe change my mind

Treblewide - 18 Jun 2007 15:54 - 97 of 1754
minder made a small loss yes which I have more than made up for shorting it........and i guess your average holding is 3p.....aye right.

Aalso I closed out my short at 8p for a loss of the spread if memory serves me correctly.

currently short from 13.25....i thank you and goodnight

Treblewide - 23 Jul 2007 12:36 - 154 of 1747
more of the same......thank god i still do not own shares in this lot...will they ever
make a penny profit....looks doubtful......cannot even manage a small supply chain.

ect ect ect

with the last few posts:

Treblewide - 30 Mar 2009 09:16 - 1704 of 1754
you are a lunatic mick.....words fail me.

and ps i only post under treblewide on any financial web site....i know you cannot say the same......you have been calling this as a buy and nothing but a buy for about 7 years...it says it all really about your stock picking ability

i notice the downtrend ins now establishing itself....re-visit of the lows again by the looks of things

Treblewide - 30 Mar 2009 22:41 - 1712 of 1754
mick no i dont know what each product does...i dont think that is important...the numbers tell everything and even though you must spend hours on web sites searching for stuff that is not even related to MDW you fail to grasp the basics...they consistently lost money and now seem to be making some...my call to 3p was correct and i think if they had not got their shit together they could have gone under

i was not interested in them as a long play while they were loosing money depsite whatever rubbish you posted regarding piss sticks or whatever you bang on about.

and yes it was poor trading..having an avergae of 12 and averaging down to 6-7p while they were at 3p....is terrible trading...that cannot even be debated...the very fact you know so much about the products means you have fallen in love with this company......which is very dangerous when investing....

the numbers are the important things...i was right on 3p, the company is posting slightly better figures but we are in a bear market which has not bottomed yet so the price will fall further

you are a 1 trick pony that posts irrelevant links...dont bother to respond i can be bothered getting into a debate with you.....away and cut and paste some more flags

toodlepip

I have been chased from here and now ADVFN,has the boy got a problem?

treblewide - 3 Aug'09 - 14:46 - 22345 of 22412

post 22342 is classic.....so mick advfn is not a good source when the consensus is sell?

begs the question why you spend so much time polluting it with your bull tripe?

question....so MDW share price has gone up, it has gone down etc etc...during all of that time has mick ever been able to find any subjectivity in his posting ie has he ever critisised anything?

i really think he may be getting paid by MDW...the whole thing is very bizzare.

mick i notice you referred to your threads as "promotion of Mediwatch"

can you confirm if you are getting financially rewarded by the company for this?

664k overdrawn....takes a long time to pay back at 39k profit every 6 months.

drawn down overdraft has increased by 170k and they paid 33k to service that overdraft and made 39k profit...as i keep saying my local fish and chip shop make more money than this lot.

margins have been squeezed...psa watch now off the agenda in terms of updates....not 1 single reason to buy and yet you lot think this share price will go up??.....am mystified why it would increase? genuinely why is this comapny under valued?? i cannot see it and dont bang on about fairfax saying they are going to make x amount...they have never been near to getting it right

if i were a holder i would be selling now at 6p if i could and buying back in the 2-3p range which the chart is saying is now a certainty....i expecta full year loss

i told you all to sell at 14p and at 11p (it is all there in black and white) and that it was going to 3 pence..i got abuse mick called me an idiot and suggested it was going to 50p......still a sell and my short (which was posted in real time over the road) is nicely in profit.

toodle pip...will log back in when it gets to 3p....

still time to get out at 6p.....dont understand why you would not sell at 6p when they are obviously going to half in value...if you are a long term mdw bull you can buy twice as many shares at 3p and maybe possibly one day see a profit on your holding?

treblewide - 4 Aug'09 - 12:44 - 22381 of 22412

last chance to sell at 6p for your shares folks

treblewide - 4 Aug'09 - 14:48 - 22387 of 22412

so question...is psawatch is so great...why has there been no huge surge in revenue figures from UK and Europe on the back of it being sold?

the whole reason a lot of you hold this is psawatch...it has not made them any money in Europe which could be argued when taken as a whole is not much smaller than the USA.....this company is not going to change overnight with US approval...at bets it would be a selling opportunity for long term holders

i really think a lot of you have to ignore some of the nonsense ramping going on here...the company is draining cash and there margins are reducing (despite this wonder PSA machine they have for sale)

i really think the future looks bleak for mediwatch...if someone can put in concise terminology why MDW is a buy i am all ears....dont point me at fairfax report...they are a bunch of clowns as well...that interim report is shocking and i mean really poor.

costs out of control...margins squeezed, cash running out...no real revenue growth, does this sound like a growth company to you?

sell at 6p

treblewide - 4 Aug'09 - 15:50 - 22391 of 22412

god i have heard it all now...mick can you counter my points about declining margins and cash issues without nonsense posts about peopel having insider information...what a crock and what a clown.

so just so i have this straight in my head...when you put in effort to ramp these shares it is all great and you expect cuddles? (and if anyone disagrees you throw your toys out the pram liek an old woman)

when i put up a few posts to explain why i am short it is an organised attempt to get the share price down because i have insider inforamtion from the US?

were you the Iraqi information minister in a previous role? lol

treblewide - 5 Aug'09 - 19:24 - 22409 of 22412

treblewide - 5 Aug'09 - 19:29 - 22410 of 22412

i wonder what thier overdraft is limited to....1M?

if so they have 12 months of life left at current perfomance...how many of you hlders have considered the chances of them going bust?....i would not rule it out...would love to know how much further the banks will let them go into debt before they pull the plug

treblewide - 5 Aug'09 - 19:37 - 22411 of 22412

seriously if i were a holder i would look at the interims and ask how much longer can they go on burning cash.......and with all the averaging down the bulls have done over the years i bet some are more exposed than they should be....good luck...think you might need it

men with prostate cancer may not have a raised PSA

banjomick - 18 Jun 2007 00:29 - 73 of 1785

That's why the AUA have changed the guidelines this year! To get checked on a yearly or regular basis to form a chart and any worrying rises can be looked into, simple!

Treblewide - 18 Jun 2007 00:29 - 74 of 1785

2 out of 3 men with raised PSA do not have prosate cancer

Treblewide - 18 Jun 2007 00:37 - 78 of 1785

:-) of course I am but it is all in the cancer research article...thank god a reputable source with a balanced view........have a read of it...you are investing in a company whose model is based on testing for something that is not fatal and the cure is worse than the disease....even if the test results come back positive it may juts confirm they like a good ride and even if none of that is true ie they are single with no sex...2 out of three of them do not have prostate cancer....you must be worried

come on Mick even you must admit you could ride a golf buggy through this business model...it probably sums up why in three years they still only turned over less than 2M (less than a good restaurant) per year selling PSA testing.

gonna-go-bust-soon-iwatch

banjomick - 18 Jun 2007 00:44 - 79 of 1785

lol Treble.
I feel you are deliberately missing and nay even evading the true worth of the PSA test and the effect PSAwatch will have in assisting in the fight to cure Prostate cancer at an early stage.

"it probably sums up why in three years they still only turned over less than 2M (less than a good restaurant) per year selling PSA testing."-Gaaawd your getting boring...PSAwatch is only just officially launched! Do you read my wonderful Fred?

banjomick - 18 Jun 2007 00:54 - 80 of 1785

PROSDEX is an interactive website designed to help men decide whether or not to have a PSA test. It was developed by Professor Glyn Elwyn, Research Professor in Primary Medical Care, Cardiff University, the NHS Cancer Screening Programme, Cancer Research UK and Oxford University.

Professor Glyn Elwyn, Research Professor in Primary Medical Care, Cardiff University, "In developing PROSDEX we have worked closely with men who have a broad range of experiences relating to PSA testing and prostate cancer. This means that PROSDEX is designed specifically to meet the needs of men by encouraging them to think through the consequences of the test before they request one."

Julietta Patnick, Director, NHS Cancer Screening Programmes said, "We know that more and more men are requesting PSA tests, however, the issues surrounding PSA testing are very complex. This innovative new site will provide men with the information they need to make an informed decision about whether or not to request a PSA test."

Treble
A bit lateral I know but PSAWatch, to me, is like the invention and implementation of pedestrian crossings. They are there to warn you of danger which is not always present. Many people don't really take much notice of the lights and get away with ignoring them. That may well not be fatal - but the warning is there - ignore it at your peril - fatalities result. I think most people would prefer to have the warning so that they can choose. For men, the PSAWatch - or just PSA testing - is there to help people make informed decisions, quickly and economically.

I certainly believe that this company has a very positive future in helping men make some informed decisions about their health.

Minder - 18 Jun 2007 10:06 - 82 of 1785

I think treble was a little piishhed last night, LOL.

Time to close the short ;o)

Treblewide - 18 Jun 2007 10:15 - 83 of 1785

morning mg etc other mediwatch dudes...yes few beers last night while watching Tiger blow the US Open...still valid arguments Minder old bean.

would not be long here.....all fundamentally flawed IMHO and still ahve never made a penny in profit

Minder - 18 Jun 2007 10:56 - 84 of 1785

Treble,
First, you ignore the fact that MDW has many Urological devices that are already used worldwide, some of which are the Gold Standard, just read the comments about AUA on the new website.
Second, we all know that PSA is not a great test for Prostate Cancer, but with over 40 million tests conducted last year and that figure rapidly rising, it is obvious that it is the best we have and together with DRE can be a very useful tool to indicate further tests are needed. The new thoughts on the matter (especially from across the pond in the US) are that a PSA log, over time would give a far more accurate idea of who might be suffering the more aggressive formsof the cancer. This will require regular testing with baseline tests done at a much earlier age than at present.
Third,Bioscan is not just about PSA tests, it has the capability to test for many Cancer Biomarkers and at least two are in development.
Fourth, you are using old sales figures from a Company which has changed and enlarged hugely since last year, if you think the figures will be the same this year then you are barking (also as banjo said PSAwatch is yet to register in the revenue figures)
Fifth, you seem to make light out of Prostate Cancer and for that you should be ashamed, there are plenty of people out there who have been diagnosed too late and who will be dying from the disease,

"Who's affected?
Prostate cancer is the most common male cancer in the UK, accounting for almost one in four of the male cancers. Each year, nearly 32,000 men in the UK are diagnosed with prostate cancer and more than 10,000 die from it."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/conditions/prostatecancer1.shtml

Lastly the PSA test is not just used to screen for Prostate cancer, in fact many of the tests are performed after Cancer has been diagnosed and sometimes a raised PSA can highlight other problems that will need medical intervention. From Mediwatch website,

"Prostate Disease Diagnosis and Surveillance

Knowledge of a patient's PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is important in a variety of clinical situations. Access to a PSA result, within 10 minutes, in a clinic may shorten the diagnostic pathway, improve the patient's experience and lead to efficiencies in the delivery of healthcare. PSAwatch has been designed to be utilised in several different clinical circumstances

Men with LUTS (lower urinary tract symptoms)
Suspicious DRE (digital rectal examination)
PSA surveillance and PSA velocity
Monitoring response of prostate cancer to therapy (hormones, radiotherapy, brachytherapy, cryotherapy or HIFU)
Prostate cancer screening with age specific range
Prostate cancer active surveillance

The arguments will rage on, but until something better comes along the PSA test is here to stay and will be utilised more and more. Mediwatch with it's much quicker, cheaper and easy to perform POC test, is well placed to benefit greatly from this and further developments.

Minder - 18 Jun 2007 11:14 - 86 of 1785

"so wind yer neck in pal" treble you are so butch, LOL, head hurting a little this morning.

I would say this post makes light of prostate cancer (post 78)

":-) of course I am but it is all in the cancer research article...thank god a reputable source with a balanced view........have a read of it...you are investing in a company whose model is based on testing for something that is not fatal and the cure is worse than the disease....even if the test results come back positive it may juts confirm they like a good ride and even if none of that is true ie they are single with no sex...2 out of three of them do not have prostate cancer....you must be worried"

Ask 10,000 families a year in this country whether it is "not fatal", ask the tens of thousands of prostate cancer sufferers whether the "cure is worse than the disease"

Treblewide - 18 Jun 2007 11:56 - 87 of 1785

minder....that is not me that is saying that, it is cancer research...so you are accusing cancer research of making light of prosate cancer...a bold claim my friend

banjomick - 18 Jun 2007 12:31 - 88 of 1785

Treble,
I'm afraid I find your reasoning very shallow and badly researched.
Very easy to knock AIM companies.....back tonight.

Treblewide - 18 Jun 2007 12:45 - 89 of 1785

all the research in the world does not make profit... prospective p/e of 100 is fact is it not?

anyway enough for now...have fun

Minder - 18 Jun 2007 12:54 - 90 of 1785

treble,
Please point me to the link and quote where Cancer research refer to Prostate Cancer as "something that is not fatal and the cure is worse than the disease".

It is quite clearly very fatal, the second most fatal cancer in men! 10,000 people die of it every year in the UK alone. Over three times as many are diagnosed with it each year. Here is the point you miss, they will have been diagnosed after having a DRE and PSA test followed by a biopsy.
Yes the PSAtest is not that accurate, but until other Biomarkers are developed it is the best we have, there is also no way in knowing how aggressive some people's cancer is compared with others without conducting things like the PSAtest. Alright some people may have a false positive result and some with prostate cancer might not be diagnosed with a PSA test, but many who have cancer find out after a series of tests, the first of which would be the PSA test and DRE.
The PSA test is not new, nor are the arguments for and against it, PSAwatch is though and it offers a cheaper, quicker, easy to use, Point of Care alternative to those that are undertaken at the moment (and there are millions of PSA tests performed each year).

Treblewide - 18 Jun 2007 13:17 - 91 of 1785

please see url and here is the pertinent paragraph in full

http://www.cancerhelp.org.uk/help/default.asp?page=2719#psa

The benefits and disadvantages of prostate cancer screening
When doctors plan a screening programme, they have to think about what happens when the disease they are looking for is found. Is there an effective treatment? What would happen to those people if they were not screened? Prostate cancer is not always an aggressive disease. It can be very slow growing. Many men with prostate cancer don't have symptoms. Prostate cancer grows slowly in many older men and they are unlikely to die from it. These men don't really need treatment. The treatment has side effects and could cause more problems than their cancer.

Other men do need treatment. But, unfortunately, doctors cannot always tell with any accuracy which prostate cancers are aggressive and need treating and which can safely be left alone.

So if prostate cancer screening was introduced
Some men with cancer would be missed
Other men without cancer would be given tests they did not need
Some men with very slow growing cancers would be given treatment they did not need
There is still a lot of discussion about prostate cancer screening. Are the risks of not finding cancers (and giving men false reassurance) or side effects from tests greater than the benefits of screening? Will a screening programme using the tests we have at the moment reduce deaths from prostate cancer?

A trial called ProtecT has been looking into treatment for prostate cancer for some years. Now, Cancer Research UK and the Department of Health are funding an extension to this trial. The extension will compare the outcomes for men who weren't screened for prostate cancer with those who had PSA testing within the ProtecT trial.

There are two large international trials looking into prostate cancer screening. In Europe the large ERSPC trial is still recruiting patients. In the USA the PLCO trial has closed and those taking part are now being followed up. The combined results of these trials are due in 2008. Please note: these trials are not listed on our database because they are not recruiting in the UK.

The situation regarding screening may change as the results of these trials become available over the coming years. If you would like to look for prostate cancer trials in the UK, click on the blue clinical trials button to the left of your screen and choose 'prostate' from the drop down menu of cancer types.
