I thought on one occasion, you claimed to be objective and yet when you read any criticism of Israel, Judaism or anybody of "Jewish origin", whether the latter is either racial or religious origin, you tend to be hypersensitive and quite often respond abusing the writer rather than the refuting facts which are stated.

However, although, I don't like the tone of the thread and the remarks of Clubman, I "think" that Madoff pertained to be a Jew and probably, and the largest group of people, who Madoff abused, were Jewish. This would be as expected as ones friends, acquaintances and business colleagues, in a foreign country are usually firstly drawn from ones own culture.

I feel you, and one or two others, are all too often responding with a commonly heard chant, when anyone raises a criticism of anything Jewish or of Jewish origins.

cynic you are of course entitled to your view of Madoff, however it has become quite apparent from interviews with his jewish victims that they would not have invested their savings with his firm had he not been a jew.

in that respect, i would possibly or even probably not disagree with you, especially with regard to the "moms and pops".
however, had Madoff been of a different persuasion or similar, he would assuredly have been just as successful a swindler, though the victims would (generally) have been different - which is the point i have been trying to make from the off

in fact, what i think you have picked up on is the rumour that people who cashed in their investments - and there were inevitably an awful lot of them over the years - will be compelled to repay all profits thus made, even though they are and were innocent of misdeed or prior knowledge of the fraudulent nature of the "investment fund".

to my mind, that would be completely and utterly unjust - but an interesting point of law.

i am sure someone on here will know the UK law surrounding such things, assuming the same applies to the innocent acquisition and sale of stolen goods, always assuming reasonable precautions were taken to establish initial provenance
