Is that from Build 218, Seymour?

Alpari updated to 218 successfully a few days ago, but my ODL is still running 217.

Seymour Clearly - 05 Sep 2008 10:57 - 7204 of 11003

Yes Hil, it is. Seems to be running OK but haven't used it much since then. Will report better over the w/e

Edit I have MT4 on another machine with a different a/v setup. I'll see what it makes of it.

Exec, Thanks - what I meant about Google was the links seemed to be a bit vague about whether it really was a threat.

hilary - 05 Sep 2008 11:03 - 7205 of 11003

My McAfee didn't pick anything up as Alpari updated. My virus scans are scheduled for Saturday mornings, so I'll update ODL to 218 first and let you know if it reports anything ominous.

Seymour Clearly - 05 Sep 2008 11:04 - 7206 of 11003

Ok Hil, thanks

Bozo checking in again!
I'm just wondering whether Spybot is interfering with, amongst other things, the ODL platform thingie. Accessing sites has certainly slowed down since I updated Spybot, like what it asked me to do - only I now seem to have a permanent scan running all the time (SD resident, it calls itself).
Also, my default page (runonce?) stopped working, and some other URL favourites seem to have changed, including access to the traders room (I had to re-set it).

Guess you're going to tell me to uninstall Spybot :S

Dil - 05 Sep 2008 14:09 - 7208 of 11003

You can turn off the constant scan thing I think Choccy .

chocolat - 05 Sep 2008 14:12 - 7209 of 11003

That would be nice :)

hilary - 05 Sep 2008 14:16 - 7210 of 11003

ODL have been struggling all day, Chocopops, so I doubt it's anything to do with Spybot. If you click the Journal tab, you'll probably see a long list of login issues.

Notwithstanding, I think you can disable the S&D Resident wotsit. Right click over the padlock icon and you'll get a dropdown box from where you can fiddle about.

chocolat - 05 Sep 2008 14:27 - 7211 of 11003

Cheers Hil-tops - I had noticed the journal, but I always blame me first, on account of the fact that it's usually the way :S

I shall get fiddling then ;)

chocolat - 05 Sep 2008 14:37 - 7212 of 11003

Do I want to untick 'use resident in IE sessions'?

Seymour Clearly - 05 Sep 2008 14:40 - 7213 of 11003

Updated my second ODL MT4 platform without issue today - that's using the 'not free' Avast antivirus as my scanning service.

Agree about ODL - really struggling today.

Dil - 05 Sep 2008 15:08 - 7214 of 11003

That sounds like it Choccy , can't check from here I'm at work for a change.

chocolat - 05 Sep 2008 15:20 - 7215 of 11003

:)
Thanks gorgeous.

Anyone any idea how you enable Java with Google Chrome?

Haystack - 06 Sep 2008 11:57 - 7217 of 11003

This is from Google Chrome help. It does work.

"Google Chrome requires Java version 6, update 10. Please note that this is currently a beta version and may be more unstable than some previous version of Java. To download this beta version of Java, visit"

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ea.jsp

hilary - 06 Sep 2008 12:05 - 7218 of 11003

Seymour,

My ODL hasn't live updated to Build 218 yet, but my McAfee scan reported a Gobi virus in my Alpari Build 218.

This link on the Metaquotes website explains more.

ExecLine - 06 Sep 2008 12:24 - 7219 of 11003

Thanks Haystack. Some complicated stuff to read but I did get a result.

You're a Giant! :-)

I'm a customer of the Computer Doctors in Northampton. Most months they send out a link to their online Newsletter. It's in PDF format and you can of course, save the download or even parts of it, if you like.

Here's a link to their September Newsletter: http://www.computerdoctors.uk.net/newsletter/NL0809.pdf

There's a particularly interesting section in the Newsletter about using a Sandbox.

On their main site there is also an Archive of previous Newsletters and quite a good shopper searching link too. I sometimes use this when I'm wanting stuff or ideas but I also do like to use Google's Shopping link too.

Seymour Clearly - 07 Sep 2008 08:32 - 7221 of 11003

Thanks Hil, I had a feeling that would be the case. I'll have to restore the file to its rightful place now!
