THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Fred1new - 30 Jun 2016 08:16 - 72064 of 81564

I seem to remember:

Defence Secretary Liam Fox has resigned after a week of pressure over his working relationship with friend and self-styled adviser Adam Werritty.
Mr Fox was being investigated amid claims he broke the ministerial code.
In a letter to David Cameron, Mr Fox said he had "mistakenly allowed" personal and professional responsibilities to be "blurred".
Mr Cameron said he was very sorry to see him go. Transport Secretary Philip Hammond will replace Mr Fox.
Labour said Mr Fox had not upheld the standards expected of ministers and his departure had been "inevitable".

Something to do with misuse, which joe blogs might have ended up in court for.

Good leader.

So Sturgeon is finding out that the EU is unwilling to listen or change or accommodate any other view . Maybe she should go away and have a think , although I think her sort of person would find it difficult to do a U turn .

MaxK - 30 Jun 2016 09:11 - 72069 of 81564

Gove going for the top job :-)

Now the feather should fly, Boris over cooked it.

she was silent on the run up to the vote .

she is a dud

Fred1new - 30 Jun 2016 09:42 - 72073 of 81564

Vicky,

I think Sturgeon is probably thinking 2years down the line and examining the possibilities without cutting her or Scotland's throat.

Perhaps, if Cameron had thought a little more and promised a little less one wouldn't have the expensive confusion and chaos which the UK has now to face.

It is easier to destroy than to build!

Chris Carson - 30 Jun 2016 09:46 - 72074 of 81564

Aye and 2 years down the line (more like 20) Labour will still be third in Scotland Freda :0)

MaxK - 30 Jun 2016 09:49 - 72075 of 81564

Jockland is now on the back burner (no disrespect, but they are punching well above their weight)

The real exit people are coming out of the woodwork, boris is no more.

VICTIM - 30 Jun 2016 09:50 - 72076 of 81564

The fact that she trotted off to Brussels so quick sort of tells me she thought she should strike while the iron is hot . I don't think she's looking two years ahead at all , they can't afford to go into the EU on their own surely and also debatable she would get a split from the UK in a referendum . As i said she's finding out how awkward the EU really is .

grannyboy - 30 Jun 2016 09:52 - 72077 of 81564

There's no confusion...We want out of the EU..We WILL get a FREE trade
agreement, with no obligation to free movement...

Now the remainer's would like to say we have to have free movement to
get a free trade agreement....

Well the remainer's said there would be a world war, the world would explode.
We were doomed they screamed!!!...

THEY WERE WRONG THEN...THEY'RE WRONG NOW!!!!....

MaxK - 30 Jun 2016 09:55 - 72078 of 81564

Gove speech:

The British people voted for change last Thursday. They sent us a clear instruction that they want Britain to leave the European Union and end the supremacy of EU law. They told us to restore democratic control of immigration policy and to spend their money on national priorities such as health, education and science instead of giving it to Brussels. They rejected politics as usual and government as usual. They want and need a new approach to running this country.

There are huge challenges ahead for this country but also huge opportunities. We can make this country stronger and fairer. We have a unique chance to heal divisions, give everyone a stake in the future and set an example as the most creative, innovative and progressive country in the world.

If we are to make the most of the opportunities ahead we need a bold break with the past.

I have repeatedly said that I do not want to be Prime Minister. That has always been my view. But events since last Thursday have weighed heavily with me.

I respect and admire all the candidates running for the leadership. In particular, I wanted to help build a team behind Boris Johnson so that a politician who argued for leaving the European Union could lead us to a better future.

But I have come, reluctantly, to the conclusion that Boris cannot provide the leadership or build the team for the task ahead.

I have, therefore, decided to put my name forward for the leadership. I want there to be an open and positive debate about the path the country will now take. Whatever the verdict of that debate I will respect it. In the next few days I will lay out my plan for the United Kingdom which I hope can provide unity and change.

grannyboy - 30 Jun 2016 10:00 - 72079 of 81564

What a humiliation it must have been for the Scottish witch, to get the brush
off for her dream of being ruled by her Brussels masters.

The voters of Scotland know that to get independence from the UK would be
suicidal..Plus their deficit would scare the power brokers in Brussels to the point
of them telling the Scotish witch.."To don't asked again, as refusal often offends"..
