THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

So Sturgeon is finding out that the EU is unwilling to listen or change or accommodate any other view . Maybe she should go away and have a think , although I think her sort of person would find it difficult to do a U turn .

MaxK - 30 Jun 2016 09:11 - 72069 of 81564

Gove going for the top job :-)

Now the feather should fly, Boris over cooked it.

TANKER - 30 Jun 2016 09:39 - 72070 of 81564

TANKER - 30 Jun 2016 09:42 - 72072 of 81564

she was silent on the run up to the vote .

she is a dud

Fred1new - 30 Jun 2016 09:42 - 72073 of 81564

Vicky,

I think Sturgeon is probably thinking 2years down the line and examining the possibilities without cutting her or Scotland's throat.

Perhaps, if Cameron had thought a little more and promised a little less one wouldn't have the expensive confusion and chaos which the UK has now to face.

It is easier to destroy than to build!

Chris Carson - 30 Jun 2016 09:46 - 72074 of 81564

Aye and 2 years down the line (more like 20) Labour will still be third in Scotland Freda :0)

MaxK - 30 Jun 2016 09:49 - 72075 of 81564

Jockland is now on the back burner (no disrespect, but they are punching well above their weight)

The real exit people are coming out of the woodwork, boris is no more.

VICTIM - 30 Jun 2016 09:50 - 72076 of 81564

The fact that she trotted off to Brussels so quick sort of tells me she thought she should strike while the iron is hot . I don't think she's looking two years ahead at all , they can't afford to go into the EU on their own surely and also debatable she would get a split from the UK in a referendum . As i said she's finding out how awkward the EU really is .

grannyboy - 30 Jun 2016 09:52 - 72077 of 81564

There's no confusion...We want out of the EU..We WILL get a FREE trade
agreement, with no obligation to free movement...

Now the remainer's would like to say we have to have free movement to
get a free trade agreement....

Well the remainer's said there would be a world war, the world would explode.
We were doomed they screamed!!!...

THEY WERE WRONG THEN...THEY'RE WRONG NOW!!!!....

Gove speech:

The British people voted for change last Thursday. They sent us a clear instruction that they want Britain to leave the European Union and end the supremacy of EU law. They told us to restore democratic control of immigration policy and to spend their money on national priorities such as health, education and science instead of giving it to Brussels. They rejected politics as usual and government as usual. They want and need a new approach to running this country.

There are huge challenges ahead for this country but also huge opportunities. We can make this country stronger and fairer. We have a unique chance to heal divisions, give everyone a stake in the future and set an example as the most creative, innovative and progressive country in the world.

If we are to make the most of the opportunities ahead we need a bold break with the past.

I have repeatedly said that I do not want to be Prime Minister. That has always been my view. But events since last Thursday have weighed heavily with me.

I respect and admire all the candidates running for the leadership. In particular, I wanted to help build a team behind Boris Johnson so that a politician who argued for leaving the European Union could lead us to a better future.

But I have come, reluctantly, to the conclusion that Boris cannot provide the leadership or build the team for the task ahead.

I have, therefore, decided to put my name forward for the leadership. I want there to be an open and positive debate about the path the country will now take. Whatever the verdict of that debate I will respect it. In the next few days I will lay out my plan for the United Kingdom which I hope can provide unity and change.

What a humiliation it must have been for the Scottish witch, to get the brush
off for her dream of being ruled by her Brussels masters.

The voters of Scotland know that to get independence from the UK would be
suicidal..Plus their deficit would scare the power brokers in Brussels to the point
of them telling the Scotish witch.."To don't asked again, as refusal often offends"..

Chris Carson - 30 Jun 2016 10:03 - 72080 of 81564

Agree gb.

VICTIM - 30 Jun 2016 10:08 - 72081 of 81564

The Scottish MEP who said to Juncker , The Scottish people haven't let you down , and i ask the EU not to let Scotland down , then got a round of applause must be feeling a bit of a jerk today Freda

jimmy b - 30 Jun 2016 10:35 - 72082 of 81564

Fred would love to see Scotland leave the UK ,he hates Great Britain .

ExecLine - 30 Jun 2016 10:36 - 72083 of 81564

Theresa May was(is) a Remain supporter. This makes her much more likely to be better received than either Johnson or Gove when it comes to face to face negotiations concerning Britain's position with the EU. Clearly, they cannot actually hate her as much as the others.

I was a Boris fan, in that he can be extremely inspirational. This quality alone can make him an exceptionally good leader. Now politics is an exceedingly dirty business. A good example of this is how Gove is now saying Boris 'can't do it' in his opinion and so he is going to put his own hat into the ring. Was Gove's wife's e-mail slip a cunning stunt? Yup! I think it was. I dare bet Boris couldn't give Gove his required Immigration Numbers Limits. Well, no one can, IMHO. But it did give Gove the 'get out' he needed to go forward on his own.

Well I don't think Boris could 'do it' without Gove at his side to add the necessary credibility. But would Gove be better than Boris? I doubt it.

I do find it interesting to watch the leadership contest proceedings and witness very little coming from the Boris camp. He is obviously fighting hard behind the scene to garner support. With so many people now standing against him, it would appear he is having some difficulty getting it.

I think Liam Fox has a spoiled past. So, all in all, I now think we are going to see Theresa May win the contest and become the next Prime Minister.

jimmy b - 30 Jun 2016 10:43 - 72084 of 81564

I think it will be between May and Gove.

ExecLine - 30 Jun 2016 10:45 - 72085 of 81564

I see my MP, Andrea Leadsom, is going to have a go.

Theresa can surely easily beat her by offering Andrea an extremely senior position in the cabinet. My money would be on Andrea Leadsom being appointed Chancellor.

Imagine that! Two women running things. Hmmm?

jimmy b - 30 Jun 2016 11:04 - 72086 of 81564

I liked her during the debates .
