THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Dumbo,

You seem to me to becoming more and more delusional.

Pop along to you GP, he may have some help for you.

Unless of course, the NHS has been dismantled by the present government.

Vicky,

Economic and political mismanagement lead to as many deaths as "wars". The process is slower and doesn't hit the headlines.

Economic and political mismanagement.

Your hero's would know all about that Fred.

Just to say, since no one else has yet made mention of it so far today, that Nigel Farage has resigned as UKIP party leader.

His objective in politics was to get the UK out of Europe. Job done!

So we now have [EDIT] three four party leader elections on the go. Tories, Labour, UKIP and the Greens.

Nigel says he feels the new PM really ought to be a 'Brexit person' - which is either Gove or Leadsom. Somehow, I don't think Gove is going to make the last two. I wonder if this important characteristic might swing the balance between Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom?

I hope so. Andrea is a very hard working manager, MP and a winner. She has an enthusiasm for Brexit and will undoubtedly get people behind her.

Interesting to hear how she wants Article 50 activated ASAP and to get on with things.

Yes good post Exec.

MaxK - 04 Jul 2016 11:50 - 72200 of 81564

Aye!

Came across very well, even the press were friendly (more or less)

72182 - a cock-up in a rape case? ..... an unfortunate juxtaposition!

cynic - 04 Jul 2016 12:16 - 72202 of 81564

exec - i do not doubt that andrea leadsom is a first class mp .....however, i think theresa may would (will indeed) make a better pm, withe leadsom undoubtedly having a senior cabinet post

so, while the tories start rebuilding, good old labour has its strings pulled by the unions (God bless 'em) so corbyn can stay as leader

MaxK - 04 Jul 2016 12:48 - 72203 of 81564

Lifted this from across the road.

Extraordinary. Schäuble admits he only threatened to exclude us from the market because George Osborne asked him to.

Seeing as how she is bragging about her ability to do it, should Andrea fail in her attempt to become PM and Theresa wins, then undoubtedly Theresa would give Andrea a special EU/Brexit 'Minister level' related job.

But I think Andrea will win her MP colleagues over after the first round of voting, which is merely to select the two top choices for Leader of the Conservative Party (and the job of PM). IMHO, these two top choice names will be Andrea and Theresa.

(Funny, eh? You keep looking for a really good lady leader and then all of a sudden, two of them come along at the same time.)

Andrea knows much more about the EU (and has a wealth of leadership experience in business and charities) than anyone else. She also has that very simplifying, easy flowing communicative style, that all great leaders have.

Haystack - 04 Jul 2016 14:13 - 72207 of 81564

Polling of Conservative party members who will do the final voting give May 60% against all the others. She was even 50% against Boris 38% before he dropped out.

grannyboy - 04 Jul 2016 15:28 - 72208 of 81564

Just because haystack's a member of the tory's and that 150,000 members
will decide who the leader is...It does not mean it will translate into votes
by the general voting public, particularly if its that slag May who wins, if
they want to gain any votes they would need someone who backed Brexit,
But I don't give a toss about the tory's.

Take the Labour party, they had a rise in their membership to near 500K
and voted in Corbyn..But its a racing certainty that they won't be voted
into power if corbyn is still at the helm.

Haystack - 04 Jul 2016 15:46 - 72209 of 81564

The nationwide polls show Theresa May ahead, even among Labour voters. Only UKIP wanted Boris more.

cynic - 04 Jul 2016 15:47 - 72210 of 81564

GB - i don't agree ....... the important bit is to find a leader who can (re)unite the party ...... "out" certainly did not remotely have a sweeping majority, so to specify that any new leader should or even must be from the "out" section, could well prove counter-productive

VICTIM - 04 Jul 2016 15:48 - 72211 of 81564

Chris Evans stepping down from Top Gear Yippee .

Haystack - 04 Jul 2016 15:48 - 72212 of 81564

Don't forget that 48% supported remain and some leavers have changed their mind. Add to that the Conservatives have more support overall than Labour, May should get re-elected easily.

grannyboy - 04 Jul 2016 16:59 - 72213 of 81564

"Don't forget that 48% supported remain and some leavers have
changed their mind"

I've also read several dozen people who said they voted remain, that
if there was another vote they'd vote to Leave because they've discovered
that before, the remainer's were saying the stock markets would collapse and
never recover and a world war would break out and a drought and pestilence
would sweep the planet.

They've now excepted it was all issued by a lying, deceiving, treacherous dollops
of dog shite, namely cameron and his bum buddy osborne..
