THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

Ok, piss off Cameron. #TheresaMay

Cameron been booed by the Wimbledon crowd, is i should imagine for
granting the voting public a referendum, because most of the crowd would
be 'remainer's'...So that's what their motivation for booing...

I'd just boo the twat, because he's just a slimey slug.

Yes we should all celebrate the imposition of May being elected Tory leader,
after all she was a great success as leader at the home office, where she oversaw
the explosion in immigration to HUNDREDS of thousands per year, immigrants able
to travel through 23 miles of tunnel, rubber dingy's having free reign to cross the
English Channel...

Yes definitely one for the cv..

Haystack - 11 Jul 2016 13:29 - 72388 of 81564

What are the chances now of actually leaving the EU or even stopping free movement?

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 13:35 - 72389 of 81564

for all the obvious reasons, it will not be possible to stop at least theoretical free movement for eu citizens if uk is to trade with that bloc
however, there should be a variety of variations that could be implemented that would do something to stem the flow - eg stuff related to benefits to name something easy
i also think that even eu now recognises that "open house" as it now stands is not acceptable to many member states

grannyboy - 11 Jul 2016 13:35 - 72390 of 81564

Besides the 350 million pound slip, i've yet to hear what the other falsehoods
that the 'remainer's' claim the LEAVE side used to lull the voting public into
voting LEAVE?.

It was stated on one of the political programs yesterday that the reason
the 'remain side' lost the referendum was because they couldn't find five
reason that put the EU in a good light...

grannyboy - 11 Jul 2016 13:41 - 72391 of 81564

Well besides being somewhat of a damp rag, Chris Grayling and several
other Tory's eurosceptics believes that May will honour the referendum results
and carry out the wishes of the majority of the UK electors, and invoke article
50, in short order..

Otherwise if she fails to, we shall see how much backbone the likes of Chris
Grayling has...

iturama - 11 Jul 2016 13:41 - 72392 of 81564

Well if she is to be anointed, let's get on with it. The country needs leadership and some certainty. Pity about Andrea but she know best how she feels. She also knows now what a bunch of rat bags she has as so-called colleagues. Many are the the type that had a fag at school to warm the lavatory seat for them.

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 13:45 - 72393 of 81564

TM has stated specifically that she will honour the referendum result

grannyboy - 11 Jul 2016 13:48 - 72394 of 81564

Yes the rat bags resemble those of the KKK and some Freemason clan..

But what the feck someone has to carry out the orders of the gangsters
from Brussels...

grannyboy - 11 Jul 2016 13:51 - 72395 of 81564

"TM has stated specifically that she will honour the referendum result"

Not according to Haystack (72390).

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 13:53 - 72396 of 81564

a reliable source ...... he does swing with the breeze somewhat :-)

MaxK - 11 Jul 2016 13:59 - 72397 of 81564

What happens to the membership vote, are they telling them it's a done deal and they have no say?

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 14:02 - 72398 of 81564

would it be fair to make a boxing analogy?
one of the fighters, after say 4 rounds of an evenly contested bout, throws in the towel
to whom do the judges award the fight?

MaxK - 11 Jul 2016 14:09 - 72399 of 81564

What has that got to do with it?

And appointed the judges?

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 14:11 - 72400 of 81564

i accept that the current outcome is not very satisfactory, but what else would you propose?

ExecLine - 11 Jul 2016 14:12 - 72401 of 81564

Andrea Leadsom, July 7th BBC Interview, clarifying quite a few things (this is well worth watching, IMHO, particularly her ideas on stimulating the economy of the UK and getting the message over, that the UK is now 'open for business'):

Today, 11th July, Andrea, having considered her position, believes the country is best served by a rapid decision on who is to be PM, but has only enjoyed the support of 86 of her colleagues, as against over 60% of the MPs who supported Theresa May. Accordingly, she decides to back down, offering Theresa her full support.

Lots of people are very sad about Andrea's new decision to back down, including me. I now hope she is given a very senior position in the cabinet so that her Brexit passions can be used and exercised to the full.

MaxK - 11 Jul 2016 14:17 - 72402 of 81564

Her votes should go back in the bin and the contest continued, it's not as if it was scheduled for next week.

MaxK - 11 Jul 2016 14:18 - 72403 of 81564

The PCP have effectively cut off the membership vote.

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 14:23 - 72404 of 81564

AL replaced by whom?
MG? ..... what a horrid thought, but still

MaxK - 11 Jul 2016 14:29 - 72405 of 81564

There were 5 or 6 hopefuls, some with good initial followings, all brushed away by May and Leadsom.

Then Leadsom drops out...result = no vote by anyone.
