cynic - 26 Feb 2007 10:14 - 725 of 3050

looks as though Cynic has missed several boats this morning (SOLA, VML etc), but never mind ...... am already pretty extended and portfolio has certainly done well enough this morning.

SOLA
Pleased to note that Diverso seem not to be dumping any of their holding

Cynic -third person disease-wouldnt you know it.Any one going to the live event next Monday?

cynic - 26 Feb 2007 13:07 - 730 of 3050

third person disease = not understood

fortitude18 - 26 Feb 2007 13:10 - 731 of 3050

only the Queen refers to herself in the third person..

anyone know that the payback period on one furnace is only 6 weeks. You will not find that Return on capital invested on any company in the FTSE3000 other than SOLA

cynic - 26 Feb 2007 13:27 - 732 of 3050

quite so, but still fail to see the relevance of the comment ..... grammatically, i am pretty sure i am correct, though happy to be corrected

cynic, you certainly got your 'correction' prediction right on target today.

cynic - 28 Feb 2007 08:16 - 735 of 3050

sp has already fallen through 25 dma and is heading towards 50 dma (currently 510) ...... will this provide any support or even the psychological 500?

given that this latest panic was started by the Chinese (am sure you all know how and why), it is inevitable that Chinese-based stocks will be hardest hit

goldfinger - 28 Feb 2007 08:47 - 736 of 3050

Chinese stocks taking one hell of a battering.

soul traders - 28 Feb 2007 09:27 - 737 of 3050

Just sold all of my remaining free carry holding in SOLA. Don't want to get caught in a bear market; there are plenty of stable investments out there (GF, I am sure I will be looking into some of your recommendations in the near future).

good luck to all.

cynic - 28 Feb 2007 09:48 - 738 of 3050

hope you made some good money there soul*

HARRYCAT - 28 Feb 2007 11:53 - 739 of 3050

soult - Surely this is a market correction, not a bear market???
Also, you are implying that SOLA will drop further? (otherwise you would have held)
Also, you are implying SOLA is an unstable investment?
Not getting nervous are you? :o)

porky - 28 Feb 2007 12:19 - 740 of 3050

You can`t keep a good value share down, which we have in abundance in SOLA.
Cheers and good luck holders.

cynic - 28 Feb 2007 13:00 - 741 of 3050

i think the wise would either have already taken at least some profit and would be resisting the tempation to buy more, at least until next week when the dust just may have settled

cynic - 28 Feb 2007 16:05 - 742 of 3050

despite what some may thinkl, i post this 3 day chart purely because of the way sp has (re)acted during that time ...... plunge followed by slight recovery and/or apparent stability followed by further grimness.

while sp will not fall indefinitely, if this 50 dma provides no support, then next level is fairly minor at around 480 ...... below that, and one could (not will) see freefall to 400

Chart.aspx?Provider=Intra&Code=SOLA&Size

HARRYCAT - 28 Feb 2007 16:32 - 743 of 3050

Surely that would be relevant if only SOLA was falling? The whole market has taken a big hit, so on your logic every chart would be in a downturn and heading for it's own 50 dma.
Of course the final outcome may be as you predict, in which case I will eat humble pie.
