THE TALK TO YOURSELF THREAD. (NOWT)

goldfinger - 09 Jun 2005 12:25

Thought Id start this one going because its rather dead on this board at the moment and I suppose all my usual muckers are either at the Stella tennis event watching Dim Tim (lose again) or at Henly Regatta eating cucumber sandwiches (they wish,...NOT).

Anyway please feel free to just talk to yourself blast away and let it go on any company or subject you wish. Just wish Id thought of this one before.

cheers GF.

for max, i'll repeat post 72406 ..... i should also add fred, but that's rather a waste of time

AL replaced by whom?
MG? ..... what a horrid thought, but still

MaxK - 11 Jul 2016 15:30 - 72411 of 81564

Shurely the tories could come up with a credible contender, theres over 300 of em.

But anyway, it looks like a coup d'état, and the members can go play with themselves.

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 15:39 - 72412 of 81564

that's unreasonable ...... there were 5 or 6 contenders and then 4 were eliminated by due process
AL, sadly in many ways, found she hadn't the stomach for the job, so that left just one in the ring

so would you now suggest pushing BJ or MG or some other into the ring?
that idea doesn't smell too good either and surely would be no more than a token gesture anyway

i hope TM is now formally adopted as "pm elect" with minimal delay so that she can set out her stall properly, and more importantly, form her cabinet, which i am sure will include some strong brexiteers

Our friend posted this a few minutes ago across the road...seems to sum it up.

The Conservative Plan A was for remain to win the referendum. When Plan A was messed up then Plan B was put in place to have May waiting in the wings to take over as PM. The trouble with that plan was Boris looked like a real threat - so he was 'removed' and Gove was set up as a sitting duck. Unfortunately plan Gove went tits up when Leadsom beat Gove into second place. Leadsom was beginning to pose a real threat to plan May, with support for her growing within the membership - so Project Smear replaced Project Fear and now Leadsom has now been 'removed'.

May is now on a mission to convince the leavers she really was in favour of Brexit all along. Her Cabinet choices will be an interesting selection - let's just see how many MPs who voted to leave are in there. Grayling as Chancellor?

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 16:06 - 72414 of 81564

flash from bbc news
TM to be declared PM within 48 hours

==============

i know DB; he was somewhat "lively" on here for a while, but may have got banished; i don't recollect
anyway, i do love the way he posts with certainty!

Fred1new - 11 Jul 2016 17:02 - 72415 of 81564

Is Cameron buggering off on Wednesday his last U-turn?

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 17:08 - 72416 of 81564

i'm sure you'll enjoy a change of character to assassinate

you probably can't find much to say about JC as he's never to be seen and is a limp lettuce when he is

Fred1new - 11 Jul 2016 18:17 - 72417 of 81564

Manuel,

I didn't even try to assassinate Cameron.

He was committing a long drawn out suicide.

As far as Corbyn being a lettuce is concerned, at least the flies don't congregate on him unlike some could name.

grannyboy - 11 Jul 2016 19:36 - 72418 of 81564

Well at least there should be a few weeks more of the Labour party falling
apart to keep us occupied, before we revert back to T.May attempting to do
a stitch up on Brexit..

The need for UKIP is more evident then ever...

cynic - 11 Jul 2016 20:14 - 72419 of 81564

you're right; JC just gets eaten up by little slugs and snails

Fred1new - 11 Jul 2016 20:41 - 72420 of 81564

I am interested in what he is up to.

ExecLine - 11 Jul 2016 21:32 - 72421 of 81564

One problem with TM is that she's not good at everything.

She stands a really good chance of ballsing Brexit up, IMHO.

Haystack - 11 Jul 2016 21:59 - 72422 of 81564

No PM is good at everything. That is what the cabinet is for. May has had financial experience, but did not try an make too much of it. She worked as a financial consultant at the Bank of England.

iturama - 11 Jul 2016 22:20 - 72423 of 81564

Financial consultant? It was her first job after leaving university at the age of 21. She was at the BoE for 6 years 77 - 83.
Don't try to make it up Hays.

Haystack - 11 Jul 2016 22:26 - 72424 of 81564

After university, Theresa May worked at the Bank of England and was head of the European Affairs Unit and senior adviser on international Affairs at the Association for Payment Clearing Services.

Haystack - 11 Jul 2016 22:28 - 72425 of 81564

I knew I read it somewhere

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36735469

Theresa May - the basics
Age: 59
Position: Home Secretary, MP for Maidenhead since 1997

Education: Grammar school, degree in Geography from Oxford University

Job before politics: Financial consultant at Bank of England

MaxK - 11 Jul 2016 23:00 - 72426 of 81564

Haystack has found a new love, and has been programmed to defend her against all comers.

Dave btw, is no more, and has been deleted from Hays protection sub routine.

The tele was out amongst the punters looking for quotes, but it was all a bit disjointed..I suspect they had to edit quite heavily.

Haystack - 11 Jul 2016 23:13 - 72427 of 81564

I am disappointed that we have lost Cameron. He was one of the best PMs for a long time.

Haystack - 11 Jul 2016 23:29 - 72428 of 81564

TV news tonight is a wall-to-wall slugfest of ambitious Tories oozing obsequious platitudes in the hope of getting a job.

Yes. Indeed, he did do a rather excellent job. A very classy guy and a phenomenally good orator too. Quite inspirational with it as well.

Why the hell he actually resigned, beats me. But in doing so, it makes him exceedingly honourable.
